I use this camera when hiking in Ireland, so lots of rain, mud, bog. I find it very versatile in these conditions and it has served me well. I find that low light is not the friend of the camera and I never really go beyond ISO 100.

If one compares this to it's predecessor, the FT5, which one could not go below 10sec for time lapse interval, no charging via the USB port, no 4K, no viewfinder, less depth rating although if one is serious they will buy a separate housing for the FT7 but no Leica lens. I will test this camera out caving soon but with UW video lights. Great honest review! I'm subbing!
You recommend for waterproof the Sony action cam and Gopro, but these are not photo camera's.

FT7 has serious artefacts in panning top to bottom bottom to top. You can even see it in your footage of the sky.
A very fair review however Panasonic does make very reliable stuff, so this camera might be cranking out average images for years while some fancy flagship phone has had problems with its tiny ois motors.

I know it's only cheaper waterproof camera with finder, but I still expected more. Image on higher iso looks same like from my 11 years old fuji compact camera, max usefull iso was 400 and even that was pretty bad.
This is a good review and was my experience with this camera. Was quite disappointed with results

Nice job reviewing. Did you ever test the camera with a smartphone app? I purchased this camera and could not get the iPhone app to communicate with the camera for remote shooting. Neither could the camera store on two different cameras. Also, is it possible to have an external battery or AC power supply that can power the camera for more than the 300shots that the camera battery is good for? The timelapse settings allow great flexibility but I am not sure if the 300shot limit allows users to benefit from those settings? Those are the other reasons this camera did not meet all my needs.
You can't power it from outside. as soon as you press the power button, charging stops.

The 24p 4k video is an attractive feature not available on similar cameras.

I find the review rather biased and say what? This camera’s image and video quality is comparable to camera 10 to 5 years ago? Try going down to 28 meter underwater and tell me that again.
nice camera i am sorry to say i have been reading some reviews and it seems this camera has a problem taking clear pictures i have the DMC ft 5 and 6 both took great pictures i am sorry to say that is enough reason for me not to buy this camera

Maybe someone likes it enough to ignore my review :)) Or they appreciate my honesty and use the links to buy something else. But honestly I never was satisfied with underwater camera options. Nikon had the underwater 1 series camera; this was the only one I liked but is out of production for years now.
@@Camerahoarders My 2 cents worth, the way the lenses are "folded" into the little box, covered with whatever lens material makers use, renders images generally soft at best. I unfortunately have several underwater cameras, mostly Fujifilm, and they are reminiscent of teh very early days of digital photography. I've an old XP100 which captures great JPEG's quickly, sharply and well saturated, however, none of the successors could match it in my opinion. Just before I read/viewed your vlog, visited your encampment at Patreon, I decided to buy the Panasonic. While I was at it, I got another Fuji, the XP135. Our dogs and I go around a lot of water, mud and dusty places, so the photos are not "critical", just fun, and well, fuzzy anyway..😉
For $350.00 there are better cameras to buy at this price.... if you don't have to take pictures underwater that is. LOL
