All of the reviews I have seen talk about the macro, but does anyone know how it performs for landscape photography? If it's my choice for a vacation camera, I need to be able to have crisp images of a beautiful coast or other far away scenes, not just good macro.
I have the TG-4, and most likely will trade it for the TG-6 in the near future. This is actually my main camera for non-professional use, also because I love macro. This camera is by far the most capable macro system you can buy for under 500 USD - unless you want to make prints larger then DIN A3 or love pixel-peeping. Then you may increase you budget by 10 times and buy something with a larger sensor and a good macro lens. Good luck however to find something which can go as close to the object as the Olympus can AND provide automatic in-camera focus stacking.
I'm excited to use this camera for above and below water. I like your critique of the camera. But it would be helpful if you showed in which mode you shot in . Eg at 1:30 mushroom. What setting did you use underwater? Was it in the fishy icon? I hope the camera won't be too fussy to use!
Hi Bit of a long shot don't know if anyone can help?I am travelling in the next few weeks and like the look of the TG6. I have an old Canon DSLR that I don't want to carry around. Though I like taking photos I am still after many many years pretty useless on the technical side. I want an easy to use rugged camera. Will not do underwater shots.Unfortunately I do not have much time to get used to the camera before I'm off. My fault! Can you recommend some easy to locate settings for landscape/street photography. I'm ok with iSO but the rest more or less baffles me and I've never used an Olympus before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello! For the TG6 you can put it in the Aperture priority mode and choose a high F-number between f8 and f11. If you don't have time to change multiple settings then the scene mode landscape setting does a great job on this camera! Thanks for your question and have a nice time on your trip!
please help me , my videos shot by tg 6 are not readable or wont appear on my phones( samsung note 5) , as of now i have no laptop , ...my friend told me that tg 6 video format is different .
Just stumbled upon your video, very good presentation, clear voices and very good review. I might have missed the explanation…. How did you control taking the picture under water from your phone? Was there an app? Thanks again from Vancouver Island Canada 🇨🇦
Part of the Olympus ‘OI Share’ app is a remote control for the camera. Your phone screen becomes the viewfinder, and you have exposure control. I use it with my OMD camera - I assume this is the same.
The high speed sequence was cool. Did Olympus address the ghosting or aberration issue when you photograph toward the sun or light source? I get a circular pattern on my TG-5 photos when I take a photo in the direction of the sun, or even at a slight angle from it. Other than that, I find the TG series to be amazing cameras.
Hi Daniel! The guys who did the tests have confirmed an improvement in the lens under bright conditions. If you get the opportunity you can also try one out in store once the camera is released!
Hi Sergei! We can only give an estimate from when the team used the camera but we would say from 60-90 minutes using 1080p video with no problems. But please remember that playback function and stand by will also use up power as well. Hope this helps!
Hello! Yes these camera is perfect for family photos because it can go everywhere with you! Its quick focussing as well will help you get shots of your pets running and kids playing! Thanks for your question!
I have to tell you I have seen many product demos but you have mastered all the key elements of success! The presentation on human level, storytelling, interaction between each other, exploring all options without boring interludes which where they lose me and of course the Hey I am the most important part of the video instead of the product you are demoing. I look forward to more of your shots. I will be buying the Tough Olympus 6 for sure. You sold me on it! (I do have a weakness for Beautiful Blonde women but hey man I have two redheaded sons so you came in at a close second!)
Congratulations on winning! Macro is great fun when you get started! We'd love to see the shots you get, tag us on Instagram @Jessops & #jessopsacademy when you upload them. Thanks for your comment.
Yes, of course! And where it belongs, too - right in the center of its opticle axis. This is actually needed and very practical for one of its core functions: focus stacking, which is hardly possible without some kind of fixed position (although with luck I sometimes get good results out of my hand).
Hi Johnny! Macro shots are great fun and this camera is a perfect pocket solution for that! Why not head into your local Jessops and try one out when it's released?
We unfortunately cant give you a firm date for release either, Though we can advise the Black version will in around the end of June and the Red version in the beginning of august. Best advice would be to give you local shop a call ahead to check!
DO NOT BUY. I had the predecessor. The little door to the usb-connector broke off due to a stupid accident. It appears that Olympus doesn't repair camera's as soon as the 2 year warranty period has passed. You cannot get it repaired anywhere else, because it is a specific part only available via Olympus. So if something happens and you'd need a repair, you can just throw your camera away after the 2 year warranty period has passed. I tried to contact Olympus on this, but they don't even react on my request for a solution. The customer service of this company is so terribly lousy. .. It's a good camera, but as soon as some accident happens and you need a repair you're busted. My advise would be: NEVER buy Olympus.
The lens cap should come with the camera, not as an optional accessory.

6:28 baby fish! Image stabilization is not good.

Rabert's World save some money and get the TG-5 as the only differences are a few more under water options and doubled screen resolution. 👍
I just got the tg-6 for around $300 on amazon this black friday. Cant wait to do some macro photography.

Great review!

Excellent macro shots.

They slightly reduced the chromatic aberration but the center blue dot still does occasionally appear.

Except they didn't test like the title states. It was more about the features
Interesting, I just won this in your competition via Instagram, still getting to grips with macro as it's something I've never done !

I just found the tg 6 under water and got it for free 😎
😅
Great video. Does the TG-6 HAVE a tripod mount? I do not see it on the Olympus website.
Yes, of course! And where it belongs, too - right in the center of its opticle axis. This is actually needed and very practical for one of its core functions: focus stacking, which is hardly possible without some kind of fixed position (although with luck I sometimes get good results out of my hand).
For a camera store and dedicated camera channel, the quality of this video is terrible! Especially the colour grading.
The video isn’t bad. Remember UA-cam compression ruins videos once uploaded.
@@trainman665 that issue would affect all videos equally, so it still looks like shit compared to other videos in YT.
07:08 seriously? Put an sponge better.
I love doing macro shots of small insects or ripening berries. Looks like a great little camera. I may purchase it in the coming weeks.
