      And her products are amongst the highest quality of the kind you can find on the market at a very reasonable price. She could have easily charged double or more and made a killing, because she actually has the audience who would buy it. But she didn't. You can see the commitment she has to the brand by the quality of the stuff she has put out. Her polish has overwhelmingly positive reviews.

    • @GdV30
      @GdV30 4 роки тому +266

      Aditya Venkat her polishes are insanely good. I’m a huge polish lover and I knew they would good but she definitely didn’t settle for good enough. Then you add her price point. It’s why she sells out of fast.

      @@CaroleBiscuits I agree there would be nothing wrong with it, but I think in her case it's true. She already makes much more money than she will probably ever spend, because she doesn't live a expensive life. She spends her money on tea and nail polishes and doesn't even go on vacation most years (poor Ben lol). Plus they help charities who help animals and give free schoolarships to students, so it's good news for a lot of people if they make more money.

    I put Cristine on the same level as Jenna Marbles. I love her because she is so violently herself and does what she wants. She is one of the few public figures that I will continue to support, regardless of what her content is. Plus, as a woman who grew up with UA-cam, I absolutely love seeing weird women becoming insanely successful by being weird.

    • @MethuselahWinter
      @MethuselahWinter 4 роки тому +111

      Same! Plus Jenna has evolved over the years as she and her audience have grown, but still retaining that old weirdness that made her channel popular and fun to begin with. I've watched her since the beginning, my old fav being her complaining about airport people wearing heels and stupid clothes. Her old stuff is still great but her new stuff is who she is now as a 33-year-old lady. Jenna, Cristine, and Saf are my "weird women holy trinity" because they are unapologetically themselves and it makes me wanna do the same. Julien, Ben, and Tyler are also awesome and I really would love to see them do some sort of bro podcast, while the girls do a collab or they all do some sort of triple collab lol

      THIS! She's amongst the very few people who've done something like this. Usually when UA-camrs giveaway stuff it's being sponsored by the company that creates the product. I feel like you need both of them to achieve True Wisdom ™ (on adulting). Going off of what Ben said about being arrogant, I think he could sometimes fall into that "it's not that difficult just do what you have to do" mindset, not understanding why some people struggle. But he is super quick to see bullshit, call it out and find a logical alternative. Whereas Cristine benefits from his pragmatism, she is more compasionate and could teach a thing or two on taking risks. I realize i went full ted talk, i just love how well they complement each other.

    Cristine's answer to the last question was so perfect and is why I consider her one of my biggest role models - I work full-time as a Data Analyst as well and I became a qualified makeup artist through school on the weekends, and then Face Awards came to South Africa for the first time and because I entered that I had to learn how to shoot and edit tutorial videos - I've discovered a new creative outlet to supplement my creative expression - however at work with all the software engineers and devs I'm kinda patronized for having another job/skills that seem redundant because they can't be utilized in my primary job. I would like to do makeup full-time but it just isn't financially feasible at the moment. I'm just so happy that there's someone like Cristine who has managed this duality in choice of life so successfully. She really gives me hope.

    I loved the conversation about young boys wanting to wear nail polish. I’m a nail technician myself and I specialize in detailed nail art. My 7 year old son has been horribly teased at school because he likes me to paint his nails and do cool art on them. I’ve made sure to explain how people could react but I’m so proud to say he was totally happy to explain to people that it’s ok if they don’t want to paint their nails, but it’s something he enjoys and that’s ok. 🥰 proud mommy moment. I’ve also showed him the videos of Ben talking about his views on men alienating polish and showed clips of Julien from Jennas videos as well. Bad bunny was another example as well. All it takes is a conversation about how to be true to yourself. I wish more parents would be understanding and open to letting their child explore as long as it won’t hurt them. I think it’s beautiful to see them blossom into their own person.

      I think it's sad that our society rewards people pulling pranks, being douchebags, playing video games, reviewing toys or makeup with millions of dollars but people doing important work are underpaid. I've worked in medical oncology research for years and had to be in school for 8 years to be in that field. My time spent using a pipette and looking down into cultures and gels for electrophoresis has damaged my hands and neck to the point that I'm disabled. There's little monetary reward or even recognition from society but Logan Paul is a household name. What we do is important to society and that is our reward.

      Lurah25 wow that’s horrible. They always tell us at work about the dangers of spending too much time pipetting. They say to take 15 minute breaks if you’re spending the day pipetting. I don’t pipette that much since I work in analytical but I didn’t realize it could really get that bad. I’m sorry to hear that. And for sure those kind of jobs that we worked are so important and yet we get paid so little compared to these useless entertainers. Very sad how people’s value doesn’t actually translate into money.

    I've followed Cristine for years. Never knew about her school past. Im from the UK, was bullied from the age of 10 to even when I was 17 and in college. At 19 I finally moved out. Had no friends, never saw my family but now I'm thriving. I work 2 jobs and have 1 day off per week to see family and many friends I've made at one of my jobs. I'm now saving up for a car so I no longer have to rely on busses. I was extremely dependent on my family and friends but now I'm completely independent and it feels amazing. When I was in highschool I never thought I could be this person at 20 years old. I didn't even think i'd get past my 18th birthday. Guess what I'm trying to say is sometimes going away and becoming your own person will be the best thing you can do for yourself.
