A sea drake is encroaching upon your vessel. When suddenly the sea grows restless. The waves crash over the side. A hand erupts from the sea followed by a hand an body, a storm giant wielding a massive bow. The giant takes aim at the drake, and with a loud thooum the faint fires the bow and skewers the drake.

The sad thing is the Hill Giants are still smarter than the fighter from the first Final Fantasy game. He started with a intelligence score of 3. It doesn't grow much, even at level 27.

Well yeah, obviously, why else would they named Giant Pandas?

  • @impartialthrone2097

Okie, so what I get from this is that each type of giant is inapired by/based on different giants from real world legends and stories.
Hill Giants are like the generic europwan giants that lumber around eating and killing.
Stone Giants I honestly have no idea.
Frost and Fire Giants are straight out of Norse Mythology, from Jotunheim and Muspelheim respectively.
Cloud Giants are.the Jack and The Beanstalk-style giants.
And Storm Giants are like a blend of Zeus and Poseidon but with the size of the Titans feom Greek Mytyhology.

  • @cuthailon

Wouldn't frost giants trade slaves for weapons with fire giants? That would seem like a maut thing?

    • @Thedungeoncast
      @Thedungeoncast  6 років тому +2

I could definitely see this being done and seen as maut.

    • @impartialthrone2097

Wouldn't it be more maut to earn their weapons by either claiming them from foes they defeated with their bare hands or by making them from the parts of huge beasts they killed with their bare hands?

I am planning a giant battle with my 3.5 group. They are level 8-9 but they are loaded with strong magical items and have gained some extra special powers so I would say their ECL would rise to 10-11. Plus they are accompanied by an NPC with ECL 14. So, because of their level I was going for storm giants, but after listening to this podcast I realized I didn't know a f*ck about giants lol this is really helping me create the backstory for this scene of my campaing. But now that I know how storm giants are, it would require a special reason for these guys to fight them. I am considering using hill giants instead or maybe castaway stone giants, or maybe some crazed cloud giants (I guess I should check the CR before that haha). Any suggestions? BTW I noticed that there are specific videos about each type of giant except for the storm giants, did you guys not plan to do it or did something happened that it wasn't possible?

Just you you know dwarves and Giants hate each other. They have a history of war, and dwarven greed means they resent that Stone giants are better at stonework than they are because they absolutely are. They like 3x as long and have a devine drive to do nothing else. They are better, just as fire giants are better metal workers, which they also resent.

Actually humans used to be giants. So in a homebrew setting a 7'-8' human could imply giant ancestry due to humans being under a curse that there creator deity placed on them due to their sin.

I am planning a warlock who came from a 1000 year lineage of ( human) gladiators who had a female hill giant back then who had a baby who started my bloodline. His people amassed great wealth by everyone being amazing gladiators and winning INSANE amounts of money. He isn't good at all in fighting, so ( first in the bloodline) prays to his hill giant ancestors to help him be great in melee combat, although weak and "sickly". His ancestor answers ( but shes a feind), and tells him if he follow her rules, and does things she tells him, eventually she'll give him a boon..... our games last until lvl 10 ( so far). My question is : at what level, would it be fair, for him to be granted the boon, of automatically be able to use the ENLARGE spell, once per long rest (only on himself) as a boon, for staying in character and consistently doing everything she wants and keeping to her rules? I'm thinking specifically he cannot attack any hill giant unless he's attacked first, avoid fighting other types of giants unless she specifically tells him it's ok, AND he acts a bit racist towards small sized characters at all times. Like I said, as of now, game ends at lvl 10.
