An idea I had was that a group of Cyclopes were capable Sheep farmers and had lived on a series of small islands to use for livestock grazing. However, a group of humanoid settlers wish to use the fertile grazing fields for their building homes and converting the land into farmland. A group of adventurers learned the Cyclopes weren't barbaric and felt bad for wanting to wipe them out. So instead, the party sided with the Cyclopes and established a trade agreement to ensure the Cyclopes won't be attacked unless a local government will come in and assist them. I know that isn't how real life works, but my players loved the idea of helping Livestock giants thrive within a region.
*I raise my weapon in the air, and a grand lightning bolt strikes it as I yell with intense ferocity* I have liked and commented! As the year of the giant begins I continue to serve the dungeoncast! While I still mourn the passing of the grand year of the Dragon, I have renewed joy in my heart. For now i can celebrate the birth of the titanic year of the giant! After giants all I need are gem dragons, miscellaneous dragons, and beholder kin and my life shall be complete. Also on an unrelated note I've been thinking, I believe it is time to expand the pantheon of the dungeoncast. The great lords of knowledge and laughter are obviously worthy of greater deity status but I would like to include freeland and the special guest Jake in the pantheon. The only question now is will they be lesser deities or more like saints of the dungeoncast? I will have to contemplate this dilemma in my short rest... Hey there everybody welcome to this comments short rest where I'm not talking about what I used to be talking about. No! I'm talking about...love! Yes that's right, love. I love each and every last one of you, for you are all fellow lovers of the great dungeoncast! In fact I love you all so much that like a female ettin looking for a mate, I am going to hunt you down. Yes I will hunt you down and fight you, for what better way is there to show my love for you than coming after you to mercilessly beat you and take you home with me. . . . Ok I'm going to end the short rest now because this got weird. Yes been waiting for my weekly dungeoncast episode all day, wooh! For those underdark cyclops I just get the image in my head of a party running into one but it's just sitting around sucking the farts out of a flumph and its one eye is all red and its just high out of it's mind. Oh my god! That image of a nude cyclops Just automatically makes them way more terrifying! I can't get that out of my head! I'm just imaging one flailing around with a club or something while fighting the party but it's huge dick is just flopping around everywhere! It's just as bad as the titans from attack on titan would be if they were anatomically correct! I need to go bleach my brain for the next week straight until the next episode comes out have a good day everybody!
Actually Ettins are true giants. in the D&D giant language, Ettin means runt. The Ettin god was the last of Annam's children. If you want to know more, look up AJ Pickett here on UA-cam
I'm actually planning on using cyclops in my next one-shot. This video dropped at the right time. Thanks guys, looking forward to more success in 2020.
I am currently interested in Giant lore (both Real World and Forgotten Realms), because of this realm I'm designing, where Humans live alongside Hill and Stone Giants, Trolls and Ogres, due to the humans having some Giant blood in them. It's also influenced by Germanic folklore and the Nieblunglied. Half-Ogres and Half-Giants are a common race in my kingdom (which is located near Damara).
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a video on the lore of Kas I haven’t really been able to found what I wanted to know online and I was hoping you guys could cover it please!!! Btw I really enjoy your videos!
Very much love the idea of an artisan-type cyclops who plays the goofy apprentice of a small wizard. So the year of the dragon has come and gone, where are my gem dragons guys?
I think folks are missing out on something when it comes to solitary sapient beings. I think it's worth exploring given our knowledge of how humans react to prolonged isolation. Perhaps self imposed isolation is a social/cultural construct for some strange reason in their past? Perhaps these solitary beings, if raised and nurtured in a social environment, it might counter act much of their negative behaviors. /shrug
This is something that would be interesting to deal with in someway. The one thing to keep in mind is that since these fantasy races aren't human isolation might effect them differently as humans suffer from isolation due to being mentally wired up to be social creatures.
Ettins are not D&d exclusive, they exist in both Norse Mythology and are also in The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe. Do better research guys. I figured that out with just a Google search.
The word Ettin is an old word meaning Giant. It is derived for the Olde English word eoten which can be traced to the ancient norse word Iotunn or Jotun (Also just means giant). The Ettins from C.S. Lewis' work are also simply giants reminiscent to those of norse mythology. None of these have an semblance to the D&D Ettins introduced in the original monster manual by Gary Gygax, save for a name that is a permutation of a permutation.
@@Thedungeoncast I remember seeing a two head giant "ettin" in old the old "Popeye Meets Sinbad" cartoon. That was made in 1936 (my mom was into retro stuff I guess). Definitely well before Gygax. I'm sure there are some other stories that go way back that describe giants with some variation. You can watch the cartoon if you search on UA-cam at: skip to 3:00 ua-cam.com/video/TRq9_PbaIBI/v-deo.html In Norse myth giants (Jötunn) and trolls might have many heads depending on the text. Kind of like how some titans in Greek myth were said to have hundreds of arms and would throw rocks one at a time to the point it was like a machine gun. Tolken mentioned a two headed troll in the Hobbit (which are basically two headed hill giants) lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Ettens Growing up with Norwegian grandparents, I remember many statues and art pieces around their house of two headed troll that were basically our equivalent of an ettin. plot hook. a Ettin hires a party to assasinate their other head.
This could also be used with demogorgon.
"I'm willing to be shamed by my kin. Just kill him."

This is a BIG deal! Titanic even! Dare I say...Giant 😂
Got two players who just can't ever seem to work together? Have a hag curse them into an Ettin. It's a great team building exercise!
*insert two heads are better than one joke*
*two eyes > one eye*
Ashen Wuss four eyes > two eyes
@@GodzillaRex100 GRANT US EYES!
I love the idea of a cyclops just reacting with wow to anything slightly magical
Dieties and Demi-Gods in D&D covered the greater and lesser Cyclops. They were much bigger and over 20 feet tall

Kas the minotaur? Or Kas the Destroyer (aka Vecna's homie)?

I would love an episode about the Naga, the snake creature with a humanoid face. They look awesome!
A two-headed cyclops would be different.
Looking forward to post-work, bois.
Curse da foo who leave a dislike
@Herald of dissonance *Right?* We could show up at their home dressed up like the monsters they left a dislike for.
*Reads this comments and checks only to see there are 2 dislikes*
Me: it's time for a crusade...*draws morning star*
I also like lady in the water!!
Brian's reaction to Demogorgon getting mentioned (shout out to Demogorgon) is the same reaction I get when The Dungeoncast uploads a new video
Giant announcement this episode! Billiam and Wrian back at it again.
WOOO, I FREAKING LOVE GIANTS, I AM SO PSYCHED FOR THIS.
There is a magic based Cyclops in the Tal'dorei campaign setting book by Matt Mercer its pretty cool. It's a CR 10 I think.
Ah yes, Lyle's classic one eye
Oh yeah guys happy new year I forget that this is in the past lmao!!!

Try "Krull" for another cyclops inspiration for campaigns.
Will Empyreans be covered this year?
14:07 Im picture a Bill and Ted wow
and the funny thing is they can actually have the same hair cut
Cyclops is a big guy 4 u
Home brew the Hesiod cyclops out of maybe a storm giant- larger, more powerful and more intelligent
Since superquest saga is in space, do you think you will do an episode on spelljammers?
