    Certainly one of Czerny's most INSANE etudes.

    The ending (actually the whole thing) is hilarious! I felt like I was watching a Mario Cart game!
    Czerny is so innovative with the possibilities of runs and riffs, I often wonder if he influenced Chopin or the other way around.
    Thank you so much for a super-rare recording of an etude that usually puts a grimace on our faces. We should be smiling and chuckling instead!

    The couple bars starting at 0:55 sound like something I'd hear in Tchaikovsky, super awesome performance (and that final cadence was hilarious)

    Amongst the other etudes of op.299, this one is particularly gruelling, insane, bonkers, laughably pianistic. What Saint-Saens had in mind when adding the pianists too Les Carnaval des Animaux.

    I just discovered your channel. Great videos, instructive and creative. I worked on this Czerny study, an excellent brain and finger stretcher. You play it incredibly well - nice dynamics!. Thank you. Definitely want to support. BTW, I think you're using the word "mad" in the sense of "crazy", "looney", (vs angry) - the way you change the harmonies in those last chords - very fun - you've got to after the 1000th run through.

    I wonder how long this took to practice and perfect, beautiful and satisfying to watch.

      Well actually I approached it many times to practice, but mostly it was sparse 10-15 mins sessions in between of many other projects and activities, so no idea how much time I really spent on this. It took more time than any of other 9 etudes which I played for my new piano technique course on op.299 by Czerny, mentioned in the description, but not as much as most of Chopin Etudes would take to polish though.

    Hi, Denis! Greetings from São Paulo, Brazil! I like your videos so much to the extent that I'm a subscriber to your YT channel. On a side note, I would be most grateful if you could consider making a tutorial of Chopin's Prelude no. 1, Op. 28 one of these days. Till then, stay safe and all the best!

      Hi Rodrigo
      Thanks for your feedback!
      This prelude is covered within a 6-hour course on a complete op.28. I don’t plan to make another tutorial on UA-cam for this one specifically:

    • @DenZhdanovPianist
      @DenZhdanovPianist  Рік тому +1

      Haha unfortunately with some sound editing and piano tuning experience you can really hear when the video is sped up, because the overtones beat with an unnatural speed then. So no, I don’t do that, although… oh that would be tempting… so much practicing hours could go towards something more fun! 😞

    00:42, it sounds like you went into triplets. Other than that I think you did a great job. Well done!

    • @DenZhdanovPianist
      @DenZhdanovPianist  Рік тому +6

      That is actually my favorite spot because I am syncopating it on purpose. The tempo of the 16th notes is the same, there are no triplets, just some rhythmical shifting for fun.

    • @matthewclarke5008
      @matthewclarke5008 Рік тому

      @@DenZhdanovPianist, I know what you were doing, this is obvious, but it sounds like triplets. You have to be careful as things don't come across as intended. You could alternate between offbeat and syncopated accentuation to make it clearer. I think if you want to play with the score in such a way, I sense a creative spirit in your playing. You could get away with it by calling it an 'arragenement'. That way nobody will question your choice of accentuation or alternative chords and so forth. This is not to diminish from what a great job you did. Again well done.
