It could very much be both. I’ve seen a lot of vintage articles dealing with these sorts of things, and they’re usually surprisingly lighthearted about it. On the one hand, it was taboo, not even legal, but there’s also plenty of evidence that queer people could live relatively unbothered if it was kept private. (Which is still a bit of a reality.)

The lyrics and rhymes are well-written, the singing is enjoyable (and has no auto-tune, which did not exist back then), the song is written in the "intro-verse-verse-chorus-verse", and the orchestral music is much better than the today's computer-generated music and its clap-like beats. This song seems to be a combination of ragtime music and early jazz music, which are both great music genres.

Hate to be that guy... but this is definitely NOT vinyl. Its shellac which has a very different crackle and surface noise than vinyl.
