Quickly change display settings with the Windows+P Shortcut

- In this video, I demonstrate how to quickly change your display settings in Windows using the Windows Presentation Mode keyboard shortcut, accessed by pressing the Windows key and the 'P' key. Please note, the momentary blackouts of my desktop in the video are an artifact of the screen capture software used, they did not happen on the laptop itself.
This literally saved me, Sir. Thank you so much!
My problem was that my computer screen was broken and my display screen was stuck on an extended screen. I clicked on my settings to change it, right-clicked the screen, and clicked on display settings to change it, even tried asking Cortana but the open tabs weren't showing up on my extended Monitor and I didn't know how to fix it. After browsing for solutions on a different device, I finally came upon your video. I tried the Windows+p short cut and moved my cursor blindly on the monitor's side and clicked. And I got back to duplicate screen. It was so simple I felt a bit silly for being so anxious. Why couldn't I have known this sooner?

My friend my laptop is broken too and i press the win key + p but nothing happend my monitor is connected to laptop but nothing happend what can i do for that?
@@snobcraftpvp5560 Your friend have windows 10 on laptop? Because win key + p work only on 10. If your friend have other system try to use FN key (next key to left control usually) + F8.
is he using an hdmi cable?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE WINDOWS + P. I once dropped my laptop and it went broken so i bought a new monitor. Then i went to extend screen and i saw the broken screen so i couldnt change it back. I pressed windows + p and clicked around and it went on the right one. Tysm

Thank you very much. You literally saved my life I mean by job. When I'm using the duplicate monitor I accidentally pressed the PC only which is having totally black screen. Like a blind I pressed many keys but nothing changed. I watch many videos to find the short cuts. I finally found this. Without seeing the screen I was able to switch to the second monitor. Thank you again.

Yes! This works so great when I have one monitor turned off or switched to a different input. The Display Settings menu always seems to pop up on the window that I can't see. I was happy to learn about the WIN + arrow keys to move it to my active monitor, but this is like the full meal deal. Thank you for sharing! Very nice concise demonstration as well.

You saved me a heart attack im a music and graphics producer and i have my life into my laptop, a couple days ago i got into a nasty little scrap with someone and we were destroying my room and the individual purposely tossed me into my laptop and we fought ontop of it and completely destroyed the laptop screen and it wasnt picking up my hdmi as the input method, which was always my setting...anyway i appreciate your very quick simple and detailed video thank you!

I had my gaming pc plugged up to my TV and monitor at the same time. It was extended to my monitor and main desktop to TV. Honestly I was too lazy to go to my TV to change settings and or unplug the hdmi cord. So you saved me 5 steps, so thank you.

This came up as the first answer in a Google search and I appreciate this was titled in such a way that I didn't have to watch the video to find out what to do. I clicked the google link anyway just to thank you. Seems like a huge oversight on Microsoft's part that you apparently can't access the display settings from the search bar, or that the display settings screen doesn't mention the Windows key + P key for this stuff. Some of the games I play don't like to be minimized to let you access the desktop and change the GPU settings with a right click.

Thank you! Whenever I plugged in my second display, both displays went black. Even though I wasn't able to see the screen, I followed the shortcut instructions and got them both configured properly now.

my problem is I switched to second screen only to my LG smart tv and my computer screen goes blank so no way to change it back to duel screen using Miracast

When I change the option and leave the projection pane it goes back to the pc screen only setting! I have 2 monitors and it's just duplicating on both screens.

Help me i just reseted my laptop but the problem is my laptop display doesn't work so i use with external display now when i reseted it my laptop not showing any thing in my external display waht do i do.?
No one can ever answer whats actually important, I'm only using mine AS a laptop for some dumb reason, every time I unlock or lift the screen up its default is "PC SCREEN ONLY" and that starts the screen rotated left, instead of set up like a laptop should be like a wide screen tv or computer, I need the default to be "EXTEND" How do I switch it so I never have to hit the f10 button and switch it to extend again

Hey Mate, really like your videos and really hoping you can help me please.....I accidently selected Show Only Second Monitor in the display settings and now I cannot get it back to Extend the Windows +P brings up the option panel but it does not activate the other monitor. I have also tried removing the drivers and then allowing windows to load them back in but the other display simply does not register on the PC anymore is there anything I can do to get both monitors working again, Many thanks :)

I got a broken laptop screen, im pairing with a monitor but only the broken screen of laptop shows picture ( cracks ) and the monitor is just all black, it worked like a week ago but now its broke? Help me please
Thanks for this. I was wanting to connect my gaming laptop to my TV. I've no need for the laptop screen to be on at the same time. Do you think using Second Screen only would help frame rate increase on the TV as then the laptop isn't having to render on two screens at the same time. And I guess also I can change settings so the game displays in 4K subject to hardware in my laptop?

1.) Turn on your PC / laptop
2.) Wait till it turns on (it shows the windows icon
3.) Press the key combination in the video above that is (window key +P) and then press the 'up arrow '×2 and press enter
Your laptop/PC would perform these functions as it is the monitor which is sleeping 😊

I'm wondering if there's a shortcut to switch which display is the main display. I switch them quite frequently while gaming for example because many games don't have the option to run primarily on the secondary display and it'd be nice to have a faster way to do this
To the best of our knowledge, there is no keyboard shortcut in Windows to switch the 'Main' display (Microsoft has a reference for all Windows 10 keyboard shortcuts here --> support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12445) The only way of which we are aware to change the 'Main' display setting is using the Display Settings application as we demonstrate here --> ua-cam.com/video/7nnKztRZXsw/v-deo.html

inside the display settings on Multiple displays,there is no "'duplicate displays'' option.And using windows+p, clicking duplicate from extend doesn't show any changes.Why so??

*Just to confirm if you have TWO monitors and you want them to be as one you'll just click extend then they will be combine like 1 long monitor since its now acting up as one because you extend it?*
