We can't 100% say whether the cops were called or they were passing by and just decided to check up on him. But if someone actually called why shouldn't they be able to see who he is and what his business is and put the person's mind at ease? For all we know there could've been a robbery in the area recently and people feel uneasy about vehicles they've never seen. Identifying yourself to police should only be a problem for you if you have something to hide or are looking to kill time by arguing for no good reason.

As for why, I think it.boils down to a couple of factors, the first being the general... devolution of our culture, people in general are angrier, ruder, and more tribal militant than in the past. I know it is easy to say and hard to do, but I genuinely believe that those put in a position of power and trust have to be held to higher standards. Actually it doesnt matter if there are trespassing signs or if the owner asked him to leave it still cannot be trespassing. The way the vehicle is parked, he is on a public roadways that has an easement so many feet from the center of the road which allows for the public to park if needed. Absolutely cannot be trespassing. If their was a no parking sign, we would have a traffic violation then and he could be cited for that.

It use to be if police illegally pulled you over and found something illegal the Courts had to acquit but now the Courts say if they find something illegal they can now prosecute. Now, there are still cases where LE will pull you over, and they don't have to tell you what they stopped you for until they file the report, giving them time to find a good and valid reason (which I don't like at all). However, if there is no valid reason to stop you or search you, then no, anything that is found as a result of them violating your rights, is not admissible. You are indeed mistaken, the Supreme Court has NOT ruled on anything that would change that.
Getting your ID is like crack for officers. They treat it as an addictive game, where they rack their brains to find the right combination of words, then lawful reasons, and if that fails then they move on to corrosion, lies, and intimidation. I stopped watching at the first video, it made my blood boil. Those cops need to walk down a dark alley, and ... Way too many bad cops, it's not just a few bad apples, it's a systemic issue, and good cadets are all too often quickly turned into bad cops. When i was in my 20s I was on my way home from work overnight. I was going down a curving two way single car road. I was going close to the speed limit, maybe a few miles over like most people do, but nothing illegal. A vehicle all of a sudden pulls out in front of me, and I had two choices, A: smash into the back side of it, B: Swerve around him to avoid the accident, and I already could see there was no cars coming the other way. After doing so, it was seen by a State Trooper who was sitting at the bottom of that hill that I crossed double yellow lines. To him it just looked like I was passing someone. So the cop pulls out after I go by him sitting. He turns on his lights and follows me. We were on a road that had absolutely no shoulder to pull over on. I did however know the road, and there was a small electric substation just over the next hill. I pulled over there. He got out of his car making all kinds of a ruckus at me. He got my license and ran it. Then he comes back to my car and tells me to get out and come back to his car. I suspect to see if he can smell anything like weed, or alcohol. He starts to write me many citiations, failure to control vehicle, breaking double yellow line, failure to stop for emergency vehicle and reckless driving. THEN on top of that, he pulls a book out from under his seat and I quote" Let me see what else I can write you up for" This trooper wanted to try to hit me with all kinds of charges for no reason. I even told him I avoided a collision by swerving. Any way I fought these 4 charges. I was ready to go before a judge, and I had pictures and evidence showing exactly what happened. The prosecuting attorney, I guess didnt want to waste time going before the judge and was willing to drop two of the charges, the bigger charges and just leave me with the two lesser. Like an idiot I accepted it an plead guilty to the two lesser. It cost me some money and some points. Looking back I wonder if I made the right choice or not. It was obvious the cop was having a rough day, or he was just being a very bad cop.
Technically...no cop ever swears to uphold your rights....they are sworn in and just repeat what they are told to say....95% of police officers couldn't tell you HALF the amendments in the Constitution. They get 6 months training in the academy....and not a single minute of that training consists of any training on Law or Civil Rights.

This happened to me in Texas. I'm in IT and had a big project that paid well for a few days. I was simply waiting in my car in front of a convenience store. I was detained and I told them that I was getting paid $2,000/day for a project. If I was to be detained for the day, me or the company will go after them for that and they will have to pay it. The company's lawyer arrived at the precinct with a $100,000 lawsuit for illegal detention. I was let go but the company is still suing them.
Dude had to have had an AWESOME lawsuit case against these officers. Wow! The district attorney had already told the initial officer he didn't have anything.

Why is it so hard for cops to understand that we don't want our ID ran? It gets recorded in a database and then the next time you interact with the police it makes them more suspicious because they see in the database that the first cop ran your ID. It builds up this record of having your ID ran when you never did anything wrong.
Same with cops sitting behind you in traffic and just running your plates..that is most definitely illegal, random plate running just for the hell of it, just to find ANYTHING to pull someone over..incredibly illegal

Just so you know, that's not how that works. The database cops used to run your information does not show a list of all the times your information was run. They typically just call it into dispatch and find out whether the person is clear of any warrants or anything like that. But it does NOT keep a list of who and when their info was ran and how many times. Same thing with plates. I'm not sure where you got that info from but it's 100% false

Enforcers know exactly what their immunity covers... every once in awhile the evidence is concrete or has already "gotten out," enforcers cannot be protected, that is the ONLY reason they face repercussions. If politicians could get away with no repercussions such as rioting, these enforcers would never see a jail cell.
I never let cops follow me for more than 1 block. If they don't immediately speed around you going the speed limit, they are fishing for some reason to pull you over. Don't let them do that, just go ahead and pull over and make them do what they are going to do. They WILL find a reason, just like this guy said.
I once noticed I was being followed, couldn't tell it was a cop, did 4 right turns to see if I needed to call 911 like I was taught. See the cop lights go on and get pulled over for suspicious driving because no one drives in circles. I said I saw a stranger following a lone woman's car at night and did what I was taught, take 4 right turns to confirm being followed and call 911. He lectured me and fucked off (He had nothing to ticket me for)

Cops are really corrupt I got pulled over from coming out of the movie. He stated he got a call about a suspicious car that matched my old beat up Camaro. Another time I got pulled over and cops asked me where I work and live. I called the cops about harassment. And this cop started messing with me. I was changing my tire on my car and a cop came threw a jack by me and told me he needed my if for helping me. Not charged for anything. Not all cops are bad, but most of them are. Especially if you are a minority. I have several more stories, but never charged for anything.

I am just making an observation based on experience.
As for why, I think it.boils down to a couple of factors, the first being the general... devolution of our culture, people in general are angrier, ruder, and more tribal militant than in the past.
The other major factor is that, except in the most extreme cases police aren't punished for bad behavior beyond an occasional slap on the wrist.

Actually it doesnt matter if there are trespassing signs or if the owner asked him to leave it still cannot be trespassing. The way the vehicle is parked, he is on a public roadways that has an easement so many feet from the center of the road which allows for the public to park if needed. Absolutely cannot be trespassing. If their was a no parking sign, we would have a traffic violation then and he could be cited for that.

Now, there are still cases where LE will pull you over, and they don't have to tell you what they stopped you for until they file the report, giving them time to find a good and valid reason (which I don't like at all). However, if there is no valid reason to stop you or search you, then no, anything that is found as a result of them violating your rights, is not admissible. You are indeed mistaken, the Supreme Court has NOT ruled on anything that would change that.
Getting your ID is like crack for officers. They treat it as an addictive game, where they rack their brains to find the right combination of words, then lawful reasons, and if that fails then they move on to corrosion, lies, and intimidation.

When i was in my 20s I was on my way home from work overnight. I was going down a curving two way single car road. I was going close to the speed limit, maybe a few miles over like most people do, but nothing illegal. A vehicle all of a sudden pulls out in front of me, and I had two choices, A: smash into the back side of it, B: Swerve around him to avoid the accident, and I already could see there was no cars coming the other way. After doing so, it was seen by a State Trooper who was sitting at the bottom of that hill that I crossed double yellow lines. To him it just looked like I was passing someone. So the cop pulls out after I go by him sitting. He turns on his lights and follows me. We were on a road that had absolutely no shoulder to pull over on. I did however know the road, and there was a small electric substation just over the next hill.
I pulled over there. He got out of his car making all kinds of a ruckus at me. He got my license and ran it. Then he comes back to my car and tells me to get out and come back to his car. I suspect to see if he can smell anything like weed, or alcohol. He starts to write me many citiations, failure to control vehicle, breaking double yellow line, failure to stop for emergency vehicle and reckless driving. THEN on top of that, he pulls a book out from under his seat and I quote" Let me see what else I can write you up for" This trooper wanted to try to hit me with all kinds of charges for no reason. I even told him I avoided a collision by swerving. Any way I fought these 4 charges. I was ready to go before a judge, and I had pictures and evidence showing exactly what happened. The prosecuting attorney, I guess didnt want to waste time going before the judge and was willing to drop two of the charges, the bigger charges and just leave me with the two lesser. Looking back I wonder if I made the right choice or not. It was obvious the cop was having a rough day, or he was just being a very bad cop.

It amazes me how little concern cops have for the right of citizens, the same rights they swore to uphold and protect.
Technically...no cop ever swears to uphold your rights....they are sworn in and just repeat what they are told to say....95% of police officers couldn't tell you HALF the amendments in the Constitution. They get 6 months training in the academy....and not a single minute of that training consists of any training on Law or Civil Rights.
Unfortunately, it's all about the power-trip for many of them. And this is in the age of body cameras. Imagine how they must have acted before they knew they were being recorded?!

And the laws that you bring out here are the same laws that protect a lot of REALLY dangerous people. So when you're NOT a dangerous person and you don't have psychotic ego and IQ above 90, you should be able to understand WHY this cop tries to figure out and answer politely.
It's also not against the law or against the rights to be polite, to understand, to be helpfull to make people around not worry about your presence in a neighborhood where there are families, old people, disabled people, weak people etc. etc.

This happened to me in Texas. I'm in IT and had a big project that paid well for a few days. I was simply waiting in my car in front of a convenience store. I was detained and I told them that I was getting paid $2,000/day for a project. If I was to be detained for the day, me or the company will go after them for that and they will have to pay it. The company's lawyer arrived at the precinct with a $100,000 lawsuit for illegal detention. I was let go but the company is still suing them.
Dude had to have had an AWESOME lawsuit case against these officers. Wow! The district attorney had already told the initial officer he didn't have anything.
That's the reason for the confrontation. Big paycheck!
Also, when cops tells you to stop interrupting them, that infuriates me to no end, especially when they're in the proces of lying, violating someone's rights and continously have interrrupet their victim as well.
What infuriates me is when someone is sitting in their car and they begin to question what they're doing or where they're going, how late it is, they got a call, etc. Last I checked I'm grown and can be where I want when I want. 🙄

I love how police can “investigate” issues like sitting in your car or responding to calls about suspicious people, but when it comes to responding to victims of a crime or witnesses of a crime they are quick to dismiss those claims as “I didn’t see it” or “it’s a civil matter I cannot help.”

I am not thinking that the cop is corrupt knowingly as he knew his bodycam was on. Just completely ignorant of the laws he had sworn to uphold. That is a black mark on whatever academy he graduated from, his training officer, and ultimately his department.

Why is it so hard for cops to understand that we don't want our ID ran? It gets recorded in a database and then the next time you interact with the police it makes them more suspicious because they see in the database that the first cop ran your ID. It builds up this record of having your ID ran when you never did anything wrong.

Happened to me bike riding in wildwood, nj at night. They asked my id. Badgered until i gave it. Months later i got pulled over for a turn on red. I was asked about the wildwood encounter
Just so you know, that's not how that works. The database cops used to run your information does not show a list of all the times your information was run. They typically just call it into dispatch and find out whether the person is clear of any warrants or anything like that. But it does NOT keep a list of who and when their info was ran and how many times. Same thing with plates.

Enforcers know exactly what their immunity covers... every once in awhile the evidence is concrete or has already "gotten out," enforcers cannot be protected, that is the ONLY reason they face repercussions. If politicians could get away with no repercussions such as rioting, these enforcers would never see a jail cell.

I never let cops follow me for more than 1 block. If they don't immediately speed around you going the speed limit, they are fishing for some reason to pull you over. Don't let them do that, just go ahead and pull over and make them do what they are going to do. They WILL find a reason, just like this guy said.

I once noticed I was being followed, couldn't tell it was a cop, did 4 right turns to see if I needed to call 911 like I was taught. See the cop lights go on and get pulled over for suspicious driving because no one drives in circles. I said I saw a stranger following a lone woman's car at night and did what I was taught, take 4 right turns to confirm being followed and call 911. He lectured me and fucked off (He had nothing to ticket me for)

One time I had one following me and just pulled over and he pulled in behind me and asked why I pulled in and I was just honest. I always just let them, if they ask they won't stop until they get their way. After he found nothing he told me I can't be parked there and told me to move along so I did very slowly until he left me alone. I'm not playing their games.

Cops are really corrupt I got pulled over from coming out of the movie. He stated he got a call about a suspicious car that matched my old beat up Camaro. Another time I got pulled over and cops asked me where I work and live. I called the cops about harassment. And this cop started messing with me. I was changing my tire on my car and a cop came threw a jack by me and told me he needed my if for helping me. Not charged for anything. Not all cops are bad, but most of them are. Especially if you are a minority. I have several more stories, but never charged for anything.

I believe many departments now require some sort of degree, but it's not a Constitutional degree that's for sure . Imho the problem is they get 6 months training while it took me and 10s of Millions of other skilled tradesmen 4(+) years of schooling and 8,000 (+) hours of documented apprenticeship to obtain our State Registered Journyman certification. It's crazy when you think about that.

Damn… I have been a practicing attorney for just over 20 years now and I have NEVER heard of a ladder being referred to as “burglarious tools”. That swine was grasping at ANYTHING in a desperate attempt to “win” and that should be incredibly alarming to anyone and everyone watching. While the laws regarding when an individual is required to present identification varies widely from state to state, the vast majority are clear in stating that citizens have a right to privacy and are not subject to any demands made by law enforcement unless they have/are/may be committing (or committed) a crime. I swear too many cops are on that Minority Report shit and it needs to stop. The number one thing we can do to reign in officers is to abolish qualified immunity! Contact your local government officials, congresspersons and/or senators and tell them you are a constituent of theirs. Voice your concerns about the rampant misconduct and ignorance of law enforcement officials and let them know that you are strongly in favor of the abolition of qualified immunity! I apologize for the lengthy comment, I just can’t stand seeing shit like this.

I remember in elementary and junior high school, they would have police officers give talks to the students and every time, at some point in the talk, they would say "It's not my job to just put people in jail." I think back on that now and all I can think is "But that's literally ALL you do. And you try really hard to do it."
