Oh my gosh, thank you SO much! I have always wanted some galaxy shoes and after my white ones were badly stained I painted them black and did this tutorial. It helped so much because I had no clue had to do the galaxies. :)
My two kids 8 & 6 made their own galaxy shoes all themselves after watching this video! So fun. Thanks for posting!

TIP: if you need/want to make your shoes waterproof just iron them. hope his help's everyone!

Same here! But its good to have a first try on some cheap ones then do some on the real thing.. The end turn out will be perfect, at least you tried and it will be original

put newspaper in the shoe first to keep it stable
To not make it come off in the rain, you can normally get waterproof spray, just spray the shoes after they dry from the paint and it should be good! x

hey but make sure your using acrylic paint so its doesn't wash off in the rain
I actually think u should use fabric paint if u have it because the paints r permanent but acrylic paint is washable

I got acrylic on my jeans in art in 9th grade... I still wear the jeans now (freshman in college)... 5 years later after washing so many times the paint is still there! (The jeans have a patters so no one notices but I notice cause I'm the one who put it there)
Can I make a suggestion? Fill your shoes with newspaper or paper towels to keep paint out of the inside of the shoes. The paint you used to make the Galaxy is great. My niece will love doing these.
People at my school who wear Nikes make fun of me for wearing these Converse... In fact, they think it's funny that I wear converse. Only my friends understand. (i'm a boy btw)
At my school theres a lot of guys that wear them. Most guys at my school have like a mix betweens Nikes and Vans/Converses
My cousin he's in high school camel back and he loves converse more than Nike's and Jordan's at my school they dont make fun of you but at my school Jordan's are popular I have some andi love converse too I have black ones

CuteCrafters it depends on what colors you use 😃 i did my own graphic tee with acrylic colors. I washed it and the color didn't come off. ☺

depends, maybe twice a month but you know.. if it rains.. "galaxy shoes" turn ugly.. I wasn't talking just about washing them..

I have done several custom shoes over the years for personal use and commision. Acrylic and fabic paint, once allowed to set for 24 hours, will be waterproof. i have a pair of converse that i completely customed, and the shoes fell apart before the paint began to fade. i put those shoes through hell, i can guarantee that the paint wont wash off as long as you use acrylic or fabric paint.

These are really awesome!! You could stuff the front of the shoes with crumpled newspaper so that it stays stiff, and you could paint them easier :)
They are not the same as are they shown at the beginning!

I watch this while video usually I don't because i'm lazy and I don't have time to be watching all long videos but your voice makes it so interesting!
Make sure that you set it with a spray or something so that if you get them wet all your hard work won't go to waste.
i think this is the best DIY of the galaxy shoes i have seen . Its a really great video thx dani it will really come in helpful with the fake vans that i have that are worn out!!

Cost friendly ideas: off brand vans are $5 at Walmart. Acrylic paint 50¢ at Walmart. And the sponges and paint brushes would be maybe $2. Personally I already have all those paint colors and sponges so I would just need the shoes.

To help the shoes stay up put newspaper or plastic bags in the shoe also so it doesn't get inside of the shoe, you're welcome
next time you do a shoe project you should stuff plastic bags inside to keep the shoe from falling down. ps love the shoe!!

I would suggest stuffing the shoes with newspaper, or something of the sort to, prevent it from sinking in while you're trying to paint it.

+RebbyRaeSun mine weren't peeling at all. The shoes might be a bit stiff the first few days due to the paint. I'm considering doing it again. :)

You should use fabric paints.
They're the same , it's just that the paint won't wash off.

you should also put some paper inside the shoe to hold it up and so the colour doesn't go through, tho that isn't very possible but still, just in case :)

Here in the Philippines, the cheap products in your country is so expensive here. So, can I use ordinary paint? and Can I only use Navy blue, Voilet, Pink and white?
