"We are going to make a booknook 2 meters deep" "The shelf is only 25cm deep" I think these two sentences summarize the entire energy of the channel, like looking at a seemingly impossible task and going "LETS MAKE THAT! LETS GO!"
We have a saying in Norwegian: "Violence and vazeline makes everything fit." 🤨
I really thought there will be a 2 meter tube coming out of the house xD
Nerdforge is basically the embodiment of "tell them they can't do something and they will do it"
I'm an aspiring architect that has a concerningly large passion for interior design, and THIS IS INSPIRING! Like, imagine a library or bookstore where the different genres are marked not just with signs (which there are more ideas to give each sign personality), but also book nooks that match the genres!
This has been a dream of my sister and my entire life. We wanted to make a tea/book shop with each section themed around the books and genres. Sadly, never came to fruition, but it lives on in our minds.
@@Dragonspun What a beautiful idea, I would totally visit that kind of tea/book shop on regular basic! I hope you can somehow fulfill that dream, even if it would be in your own private home library!
It's a good day when Nerdforge uploads
I get more excited for a new Nerdforge video than for any other channel!
SAME!!!
agreed
Hmmm not sure if i agree or not
Me too!!! 🎉🏴
So real
this is the simplest example of drybrushing that I've seen and it's a brilliant little tutorial.
I think the coolest thing about this is even though I know how it's done, in those shots at the end of the video, my brain is convinced the mirror is flat-facing me, not at 45 degrees. The zoom in at 29:29 with the shifting focus in the following close-up is amazing.
This is amazing!
I'd just like to say, probably the best Skjera Bagera I've seen! Amazing build Martina and Hansi (plus Nöri x)
Putting it next to Discworld books made me imagine a parallel universe in which Sir Pterry was still with us and this was made as The Shambles, as a gift to put in his bookshelf. ❤
Finally! I was waiting! :-) Thing is i am a Professor and since i discovered your channel i am not only addicted but convinced my PhD students to celebrate their years long journey by not just binding an ugly hardcover version of their doctoral thesis. Instead they should be more proud and leatherbind it in a very individual way. Like making an old leatherbook = dissertation in the lotr style with elvish letters and an amazing landscape two towers cover or so. All because of you. Love it. We really should take us more time to consciously acknowledge our achievements.
I would encourage you to look into how leather is made and what the animals go through and try to find compassion for them.
Would be amazing.
@@TigerwomanXsweden vegan leather maybe?
I'm a student almost done with my master's degree and you are an absolute genius, I bet your students love you! Thank you for this amazing idea (now I just have to actually write my thesis😅)
I know you say the tiny painting isn't your strong suit, but what you've done is actually beautiful and amazing... phenomenal even. I love your energy and your creativity. Thank you for sharing things like this. :)
Bonus points/respect for Terry Partchet being closest to it!!!
Literally L space.
You and Hansi are such a perfect match! You, bouncing around like spring loaded chaos and Hansi, somehow managing to keep things under control. I absolutely love the both of you. And I don't mind the wait between videos because it seems like the longer the wait, the better the episode is gonna be. And you did not disappoint this time! Absolutely brilliant idea and execution!
CREATIVE, as usual! I like the use of mirrors in your designs... SCIENCE!
0:16 🦅🦅🦅 Thank you for converting metric into *Freedom units* . 🦅🦅🦅

@@Nerdforge *bald eagle sound effect*
@That_randomSwiftie It's probably a falcon, actually, bald eagles just sound like seagulls.
@neondemon5137 true that bald eagles sound like big seagulls, but the sound actually comes from a red-tailed hawk! Theyre beautiful little creatures, Ive worked with some :)
I literally applauded and cheered at that reveal, it's a freaking portal! Amaaaazing, for sure the most impressive work I've seen from you guys yet. Also, what better than having Discworld beside it. RIP Sir Terry.
I love that you mass produced the buildings and still ended up with each and every building being unique and original. Beautiful. You guys are amazing.
Nerdforge has genuinely become my comfort channel, because apparently Martina’s upload schedule is linked to my well-being and any time I’m sick there’s a new video out. So now, every time I’m sick I watch Nerdforge and I feel better (I’m not cured, unfortunately, but mentally I feel a lot better)
So thanks Nerdforge :)
This is probably the coolest project you guys have ever done as far as I am concerned. I actually teared up at the end with how cool I thought it was. I’m not genuinely debating if I have the crafting skills to even attempt something similar.
Trust in Marina to always find the most ambitious upgrades to anything and everything possible
You should add a sound system off some sorts to the book nook so that you can hear the world inside the bookshelf
Excellent idea.
Seeing the Discworld books standing next to this awesome booknook, makes me think that I would love to see a Discworld~-inspired project!
Never fails. One of my favorite channels drops their first video in over a month and I’m at work. Tch. I’ll be back to watch it later on my lunch break.
Now the next time you need to have one or two figures that have movement, simply move from one side to the other or back and forth and that can also be controlled by the Arduino. Would be an interesting challenge maybe add mounted knights moving to another part of the city.
Still an outstanding build, well done.
You might want to look into magnetic connectors for the lights, they are available at Amazon magnetic pogo pin connectors.
right next to my favorite author of all time.. Sir Terry Pratchett!! absolutely perfect.. and the street looks just like one from Ankh-Morpork!
one thing about nerdforge? they will constantly make stuff seem easy and fun to do, even if youre not into it, and you gotta admire that. love you guys!
A TINY WORLD TO GET LOST IN!
You could create a book nook that begins as a dirt road and ends with a cozy town, castle, or anything else that would be interesting to discover at the end of a dirt road.
I'll take one of these in a sci-fi theme please! Love the little details and the foresight to put a camera inside the separate pieces before installation for a closer look into the final result. Love you Martina and Hanzi!
Thanks for all the hard work on these videos!
I love all the things you make. If that book nook were in my office, I would program the Arduino to give the scene some different modes. Day/night, and a random thunderstorm mode with clouds and flashes of lightning. It would be such a delight to see the street lights bloom at the end of a hard day of work, and be charming to see a little storm in the little world.
If we could get the world leaders to sit down together and watch Nerdforge videos we'd have world peace in under a day. You can't help but be happier after watching these two work.
Amazing video! Brilliant morror usage and love the little animals detail. You might consider taking the audio you added to this video during the end reveal and add it to the actual book nook so you can switch it on when you show it to people. Would be so cool to turn on the light and have that sound track slowly come up while people are mesmerized taking in the details. Thank you for sharing.
That's incredible, i'm amazed how well that turned out!
It would be so cool if you turned off ALL the other lights in the room and only left on the booknook.
Always great to hear skjera bagera!
Oh god, how freaking awesome
like every project of yours I see, every time I think "Well that's the masterpiece, there couldn't be anything more cool" but THEN...
I legit thought we were all about to endeavor on an odd exterior alteration to your home...but a clever welcomed twist ensued
Martina, thank you! Each of your videos is like a door to a fairy tale for me, a door to something magical and beautiful!
I wonder if you could take the plate/stamp concept and add it to a rolling pin or a lint roller type handle? You could have them attach temporarily as a sleeve on a weighed marble roller so it would take less physical pressure and for wood textures that don't need to be straight, you would have more control to wonki-fy them!
REALL
You'd have to curve the hard material around a rolling pin.
Maybe doable with acrylic/plastic - but not easy to do.
Don't know if that's something you can buy.
But then you'd also have to apply the same pressure everytime.
I think they use pretty dense foam - so you'll probably tire out pretty quick, after maybe 5 sheets.
She had maybe 50 there.
I've seen people make 3D printed texture rollers, they could maybe use those next time?
hand rolling pins are too weak to make deep enough imprints in XPS :( maybe combined with a sheet metal roller it could work though 🤔-H.
@@Nerdforge Weaver Leather Supply has this very tool for embossing belts. Take a look at their *"Creaser Embosser"* videos from 5 years ago, to see how it works and to reverse engineer your own.
it would be super cool if you made another one of these but cyberpunk themed !!!
Measuring the amount of neon so you could make it all out across the run of it, but would be amazing... maybe one that's visible the entire run instead of a corridor
I did not see the mirrors coming, (had no idea how you were going to make it work) that's genius!
Heh, I knew it would be mirrors but literally every other detail of how they managed to produce such a detailed scene is what blew my mind. Mirrors sure, but making it actually look that real while using mirrors? Incredible.
Awesome! Amazing work as always!
One small addition i'd suggest is add an acrylic panel on the front and try to seal up the rest of it to prevent dust getting in there, cleaning the mirrors will be a PITA.
15:05 Hi! Why not use a one-way mirror?
Where a standard mirror's reflexion does not touch the object it's reflecting, a one-way mirror does.
I wondered about this too. It is possible to find mirrors with the reflective surface on the front to eliminate the gap.
they are less reflective, so the illusion wouldnt be as good. First surface mirrors exist, but couldn't get one for this
@@Nerdforge thanks for your reply. I didn’t know they would less reflective. It turned out amazing!
@@Nerdforgefront surface mirror aka first surface mirrors don't have that problem of at least not as much.
You two have done a wonderful job as always. Thank you for all the hard work you put into everything y'all do. Much❤ to both of you.
That blew my mind. At first I was wondering if you had a 2-meter-deep hole in the wall or something, but this is so much cooler!
Such an amazing project! Using stamps to texture the foam is such a great idea and the effects look realistic. Absolutely love your work and your creativity!
A NEW NERDFORGE VIDEO!??? Friday can really begin 😎
your attention to detail is on another level and it shows in the end result. no matter the task you find a creative way to do. watching your videos always itches me to go back to drawing and trying to make something out of my element hehe
29:53 is my reaction to this masterpiece, lol
When your guests come round you should set up ambient noises “sounds from a market place “ like in the video to play when they view it and put the speakers at different places to give the feel of depth and space
Oh and maybe a cat noise and horses dogs barking that kinda thing just like the video
Oh and you need horses on cobblestones
1:17 and you know what else is massive low taper fade
this is one of my favorite projects that you've done. Wow! It looks so cool! What an amazing concept, you could literally make any fantasy street/wood/place in your bookshelf with these techniques. I had no idea how you were going to do this, and it just turned out so amazing!!
this is the best booknook i have ever seen
As if I didn't already love you guys enough, the Pratchett Discworld novels (with the awesome Kirby covers, naturally) is just
Would this booknook be considered Cornerworld? 🤔
More L-Space.
At first I thought that you were going to do a forced perspective sort of thing, with the houses getting smaller towards the back. But your way is easier. You don’t have to calculate the size of the building based on its position in the model, because you really are going the distance so to speak. It’s marvellous. And you make it look (relatively) easy. I’m just waiting for you to move on from LED lights and fake skies to miniature animatronic people. I mean, any idiot can CGI or AI a thing but you do it for real. Keep up the good work. I can’t wait to see what you do the reaps of the year.
I'm all for making fun of AI and trashing on it cause it's garbage, but can we please not lump AI and CGI together? They are very much not the same thing, and CGI is hard work.
WOW!!! This is mind blowing! I keep forgetting it's all done with mirrors, it looks so real. You have an actual street in your bookcase. This may be my favourite one so far. I also especially love that you have it next to the Pratchett books, nice to have a mini world with them.
That opening scared the out of me.
the depth blur in the final result shots 🤯 it must be so insane to actually see this in person
Now the question is... How do you clean the inside? If it's anything like my house it'a gonna be filled with spider webs and other insects alike in no time 😭😭
That's...actually a good question lol
I guess if they fitted it in, they can fit it out!
Maybe just remove the sky panels and blow with compressed air from time to time
Mmm, lovely cobwebs.
Alley monsters 😅
It will be ambiance, not a problem 😁
This was incredible. In the end, I was genuinely moved by the scene. Thank you.
@0:22 So, the idea was 'shelved'..Get it!! HAHAHA Dad Jokes ^_^
So watched till the end, and I WANT TO VISIT THEIR HOUSE!!.. So cool
That look sooooo good! So much details!! One little suggestion, add glass to the opening to minimise dust build up.
My day just got 1000000x better ❤
I wish there's openings on both ends to see from both ways just to see all the details (but that won't work with mirrors), this is so amazing
The TOWER of TOMES NEEDS ONE!
The stamping technique looks incredible. The laser alone was looking great, but that elevated it so far I couldn't believe my eyes. I'm super impressed by how much detail you managed to put into these, there's so much shape and texture I can't even imagine the amount of work.
YUSSSSSSS A VIDEOOOOOOOOOOOOO❤ SKJERA BAGERA!
This is awesome and now I want to do something like this...
Also, finally got our hoodies and joggers and they are so VERY nice!
TINY WORLD TO GET LOST IN!!!!!
(Edit) you could do a book nook that starts off as a dirt road and at the end is a cozy town or castle or just anything that’d be cool to find at the end of a dirt road
Except that you want the main attraction to be closest to the start, that way the details are closer to the eyes of the beholder. That's why they made more details near the beginning and less details farther in.
@@bt70a9 nothing wrong with breaking the "rules" and let someone stare into the nook to see whats at the end for a while. I'd be one of those people.
Oooo. Yes. Castle at the end !!!! Love that
Martina, you are one failed experiment from being a supervillain. Love this project and the genius ideas :)
A neat idea would be fiberoptic cameras placed throughout the project?
This is my favorite of your projects!
Omg sooo cool I need one
I love your creativity to work smarter by creating 3d texture stencils, don’t forget you could put paint on the stencils to quickly apply color, you could also stack stencils one for fine detail, one for rough detail and one for large scale details
SHE POSTED
Every video you make, your projects just get better and better! The way you did this book nook is just ingenious! 👏🏻
Having all the equipment you have now (like the 3D printer etc), must be a game-changer. Way back, you had to make everything individually by hand. It's still a ton of work of course, but it must really help.
I'm blown away by this project as always! I wish it was mine! 🎉💖🏴
As one of the "Freedom Friends" (by accident of birth at least) I'm constantly disheartened by our lack of adoption of the metric system. *sigh*
I LOVE the book nook kits you can buy, and this is a whole other level of amazing! You’re incredible, Nerdforge!
with all the chaos going on in the US, this is a nice escape, thank you :)
So right, I'm taking a break from the news. This is the perfect video to direct our minds elsewhere.
This is beautiful!
Another moist pallete tip is to load your paint onto a neatly folded, damp paper towel. The paint stays wet the entire time you are painting.
*WHO LOVE NERDFORGE ?? 💫🍭💖*
Mee
Me here❤
Who doesn’t? Also, please change your pfp

Hi
I’m new to your channel so I’ve been binging your videos. You are are both so talented.
First like, let’s go
Absolutely amazing 🤩
A thought just came to me. Make a false book to the right of the entrance. The spine of it opens up and you can put a switch controller for the lights and also add a small sound recorder of the street sounds that can be turned on and off.
These are the typa women men used to go to war for
"The reflective part of the mirror doesn't start until like 4 mm in, so you get this sort of crack right there in the centre"
The solution you're looking for is called "first (or front) surface mirror" - a mirror that, as the name suggests, has the reflective part in the front.
Freakin MINDBLOWING.
I wpuld also mention that it's not only the illusion of depth, but also it feels like there IS stuffs behind the corners too! I mean, I might can't see it, but feel that its much wider than actually is. Some knight or anything could just pop out from behind the buildings.
unbelieveable cool. An 2.0 version of this would be one where you have a tiny camera on rails being able to go through the whole thing, so you can see things hidden, behind corners etcs. The sound effects also elevate that to another level.
Too cool. Damn that is impressive. Only thing I would have added: A camera on a stand, filming straight in, and sloooowly rotating the focus on it. To show us every possible detail in our own pace. The montage was a bit too hectic and I was not able to make out what is where. But maybe if I repeat it few times I'm able to make heads and tails out of it
The way Martina drops down onto the table 😭😭 such creative intros each time
Aw man. I just love your channel, your creations, and your energy. I think Nerdforge might be number 1 in my subscriptions. I am jazzed about what you made this month.
There are first-surface mirrors that do away with "space" in reflections. The drawback is that the reflective coating is usually more sensitive to damage.
After the intro to the project, I envisioned a street that had the same sky/weather conditions as the outside, i.e.
1. shop lights on at night and off during daytime,
2. rain splashing on the cobblestones of the street, something I'd be super stoked to see.
Giving a sense of same world but 'smaller'. Too bad no micro robotics to make moving people, esp running away when it start to rain. :)
Cheers!
1:1. I am happy about the result. The happy reaction sold it too. Love it, it looks precisely right. Now, weak stereo loud speakers inside, so we can hear the tiny whisperings of the crowded streets, controlled by a Transformer agent for continuous storytelling action, with good voice acting clones speaking the perpetually generated script.
I love how energetically creative your projects and vids are. And the outcomes! This is rad and I'm glad I got to see it.
That is absolutely incredible! Not only a nifty idea, but so amazingly executed! Your best project so far, and that’s really saying something
WOW, the manufacturing is as always excellent and the concept really great. A BIG THANK YOU for this moment of relaxation and a BIG THUMBS UP for this incredible work.
You guys have really outdone yourselves this time. I’m pretty sure the infinity library booknook was the first video of yours I ever saw. Full circle!
That Silent Planet song is cold in the Opera add, sick taste :)
Your handmade, bespoke, hand-painted, beautiful, personalized, custom, highly-detailed super long, fantasy booknook is awesome.
And I'm inspired to actually get good at 3d modeling and see what I can create at various lengths...
Wow, it's amazing, love it. So much detail and time has gone into this masterpiece. Definitely something to get your visitors chatting.
This looks absolutely incredible, and I suspect it's even better in person with the ability to move your head and focus on different parts. Just fantastic.
