    My hair is crazy as it has three different textures. The top layer is frizzy, the middle layer is straight and the bottom layer is curly. I can easily blow it out straight and just use an flat iron to smooth things out. The problem is when I walk out into the Miami humidity - nothing will keep the frizzies away.

    Definitely team blow dry brush! It's so much harder to use a separate brush on yourself, especially when you aren't professional with years of experience. My hands always get so tired with a separate brush. Her hair looks to be 2A/2B. Rough drying does not work on textured hair, even the looser varieties. It's best to blot well with a microfiber towel or t-shirt and start using the brush from a wetter state than a rough dry as this better smooths the hair straight using the heat and water. On straight hair types rough drying is fine as there are no bends or curls that have to be pulled straight. It also saves you from possible heat damage because when we have tried to straighten our hair from a drier state and it is more frizzy we might be tempted to continue to heat it up with the ceramic brushes and weaken it's integrity.

    • @jyotibodas
      @jyotibodas Рік тому +4

      This! I was going to say...her hair is wavy/curly for sure! If she styled her waves it wouldn't be that frizzy, its just frizzy because the waves are being brushed and blown out. Sure she could defintely blow out her hair, but I do hope she can also style her hair to make her natural texture shine!

      That’s a great tip for type 2A/B hair (which mine is) - and corrects what my (extremely straight-haired) hairdresser said about rough-drying my hair to 90% dry first, which just didn’t seem right to me. Thanks!

    • @DanteVelasquez
      @DanteVelasquez Рік тому +1

      @@luciennebrear1890 Yep something we have to learn. too wet and it takes forever, not wet enough and you get a frizzy mess. It's also important to use a product that smooths well for best results. A blow dry cream and heat protectant works well, and for looser wavy varieties and thinner hair alcohol free mousse gives lots of volume and hold 🙂

    That's a great tips from you, thanks for sharing. As for me I'm gonna go with smoothing my hair since I work in a field that involve a lot of mobilization. Styling my hair every morning and handling the frizzines back after going out here and there just too much for me. Sometimes it causes me a break down too, to be not able to show up nicely and neat just like what I long for. At the end, I choose what makes me happy.

    Enjoyed seeing your tips and techniques. My experience with any blow-drying has been a disaster (naturally curly/wavy hair). I usually just let my hair dry on its own and then style with a ceramic straightening tool. Your tips have helped me to see that I must use a better shampoo/conditioner (one designed for no frizz) and incorporate a setting gel to reduce the frizz which occurs frequently since I live in an area close to larger bodies of water. Thank you for sharing this as I feel it will help me to finally like my hair and get the smoother look whether I decide to go straighter or wavier.

    I have a TON of frizzy curly hair. I love the ouidad shampoo and the olaplex no 5 conditioner. I Love Love Love the Kevin Murphy Leave In Repair as a blow out treatment and Kevin Murphy Defining Anti frizz cream on my dry hair. I have a blowout brush but don’t use it. Instead, I use a round brush and hand dryer. As each section of hair is dried I put it in a curler just to keep it out of my way as I continue on each section.
    A question: I’ve moved down south where the humidity is insane. How can I keep the frizz down after drying?

    I’m team blow out with round brush. I’ve watched my stylist round brush my hair for years so I learned that way. I like It’s A 10 spray leave in, Argan oil spray, and Kenra Blow Out spray. I find sprays are easier to ensure they are distributed more evenly. I also use the Olivia Garden brushes. It also helps to keep your brushes clean! I have a T3 blow dryer and the cool shot is the life saver for me. Then I finish with some shine spray. I’m not a huge hair spray fan unless I wear it up. Favorite shampoos and conditioners are Kerastase. They’re pricey though but frizzier hair seems to be dryer (at least mine is) so I need a good hydrating product. I’ve tried all kinds and this is my favorite

    I have yet to find one stand-alone product that keeps the frizz at bay. I have to do some layering of products and I think all together I'm currently using four. A leave-in conditioner, a smoothing balm, some volumizing mousse and a spritz of oil on my hand. It's probably overkill but I'm just relieved it works somewhat reliably on my head.

    I really like about the littlllextra neatfix hair finishing stick is how effortless it is to use. It doesn’t make your hair feeling crunchy or hard at all. It dries light and doesn’t make your hair flat or stuck to your head. Even if you use a bit too much, when you brush your hair after the gel has dried, it doesn’t get flaky!
    Other gels might hold for that day, but you basically HAVE to wash your hair the next day because the gel becomes flaky or your head gets oily and flat from the product. However, THIS one isn’t like that! I don’t think I’ll ever this as my last finishing touch, whether my hair is up or loose, to control my flyaways and frizz!
    I also used it on my mom, and she loved it too. She has less volume in her hair due to thinning as she moved into her 70s, and this product helps everything in place without flattening or reducing volume!

    Pari is adorable! I used to prefer a traditional blow dryer and assorted sizes of round brushes but I have developed shoulder impingement about 3 years ago so now I use the Drybar single shot blow dry brush or T3 blow dry brush as they are easier on my shoulder. However, I confess the traditional blow dryer and round brush gives a better result, in my opinion. Excellent tips Summer!

    • @StylesBySummer
      @StylesBySummer  Рік тому +2

      Alterna does have a dry oil mist spray that might be better suited for fine hair over the oil. I also love Amikas the Shield. You can spray that in your hair wet and dry and it's great at fighting humidity! I always use that in my hair when I curl it as living in Florida my curls don't always want to stay.

    • @SweetStuffOnMonarchLane
      @SweetStuffOnMonarchLane Рік тому

      I have fine, frizzy hair too, and one I really like in the humid summers where I live is Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Relaxing Balm (it's actually a clear gel) or Serum. They're in a pump bottle with a light green top. It goes on after your leave in conditioner, before you blow dry. They're very light, but are great for taming frizz!
      In the winter when the air is so much dryer where I live, I like using Paul Mitchell Fast Form Stying Cream before I blow dry. I have thin, frizzy, blonde hair that is a few inches past my shoulders and I use 1 1/2 to 2 pumps, concentrated especially at mids and ends and that frizzy area in front of my ears before blowdrying. Amazing stuff!
      Good luck, I feel your pain!

    I am a natural blonde, yeah I actually am, and am now in my sixties and my hair is starting to turn gray, which isnt unusual BUT the blonde is getting darker, and the gray thats coming in is curly/frizzy and breaking off! I do not and never have colored my hair but I'm wondering if I need to now, but that wouldnt help my brittle breaking frizzy gray hair would it? So I've got some straight blonde hair, and on the top shorter broken gray frizzy/curly hair! NOT a good look! I use the best products - Olaplex, and its still not enough! HELP!

    I have a good amount of fine wavy hair; however, the underneath back can become very frizzy. IMO, never ever ‘rough’ dry frizzy/fuzzy hair. Wash/ condition and prepare hair for styling then leave it alone to air dry for 30-45 minutes. Yeh, I know that’s a drag but believe me when I say you can section (especially long hair) fair more easily and smooth the hair without roughing up the hair cuticle by ‘rough’ drying. Ultimately, I find I dry/style my hair much more easily, plus ensuring shine, not frizz.

    What's your opinion on heat settings? I work at 2 salons. (Salon A ) we use the high heat setting as along with high speed (Salon B ) I'm told to use low heat low speed. Which drives me crazy, cuz my blowouts look like shit. It's her salon, and her clients.

    • @StylesBySummer
      @StylesBySummer  Рік тому +2

      It all depends on hair type! Some require more heat, others don't. Pari for example in the past I have blown her out on the lowest heat setting and she got nowhere near the longevity as opposed to the highest heat setting.

    • @williamcharles8628
      @williamcharles8628 Рік тому

      @@StylesBySummer exactly! It depends on the hair. A client with hair like your hair model, the owner would had me blow dry with low and medium/low speed, then flat iron she makes no sense, cuz her reasoning for low heat is prevent heat. I did a deep dive, lol! Most blow dryers don't go over 250 give or take on high heat. So on low heat it's probably around 150 -200 degrees. Its kinda counter productive to turn around ans use a 350 degree flat iron. If done right the first time depending on the texture a flat iron may not be needed, "whatevez" as a co worker would say, lol! Rants over, haha! Its time for yours truly to rewrite my resume, and bounce. Thank your for reply!

    I have long not too fine straight hair and struggle with frizz, so this video is so welcome. Is the Redken frizz shampoo /conditioner good for all hair types? I read somewhere that it's best for coarse hair, help! I did purchase them to try. Appreciate your comments.

I suggest just using a moisturizing shampoo like Kenra or L'Oreal's Prolonger, those aren't as heavy. I did a video like this on my new channel, starring Pari, where I touch a little more on products for finer hair types as well with frizz! ua-cam.com/video/VfE8FRLMk2Y/v-deo.html

      @rush2ady Місяць тому +2

      Right?? I would have loved to see someone teach her how to bring out and enhance her naturally CURLY, not frizzy, hair! I spent my life thinking I had bad frizzy hair and I am supposed to just spend every morning smoothing and straightening it. I've only recently learned my hair is actually curly... I thought my hair was bit wavy (and frizzy), but after learning how to care for it, I have full blown ringlets and everything!!! I'm 51 and just figuring this out! I know the stylist in this video meant well, but it's a disservice to people with naturally wavy/curly hair when you convince them it just needs proper straightening to look good.

  • @SweetStuffOnMonarchLane
    @SweetStuffOnMonarchLane Рік тому +3

    Great tips, and Pari looks amazing with her hair smoothed out! Frizz is the devil, I swear, lol! I've been trying Pureology leave in spray and Redken's Big Blow Out on the advice of another youtuber, but honestly, I'm not digging the Big Blowout gel. Seems almost like it's making my hair MORE frizzy, yet flat at the same time, weird!
    I have fine, frizzy, postmenopausal (used to be oily, now it's dry) blonde hair that is a few inches past my shoulders and I've always had good luck with Paul Mitchell products. I like Fast Form Styling Creme in the dry winter months, and Super Skinny Relaxing Balm (it's really a gel in a pump) or Serum in the super humid summer months. About 2 pumps of either works great, concentrating at my mids and ends and that extra frizzy area around the hairline like Pari has.
    I need to figure out which hair blowing brush to get. I have trouble doing my hair either way, lol! I tried the popular Revlon one, but it blows my hair around so much before I can even get it on the brush, it drives me crazy! My hair dries SUPER fast. I pretty much skip the rough dry thing, and then I feel like I'm damaging my hair though, too. It's difficult to get a rough dry close to the roots without drying the already half dry ends and perimeter, if that makes sense, lol!
    On a side note, thank you Summer for the hard water advice you gave me! It's helping a lot! I haven't gotten around to buying a shower filter yet, but I'll get there! The malibu home treatment is great!

    • @StylesBySummer
      @StylesBySummer  Рік тому +1

      Yay! I'm so happy to hear that about the hard water 💃💃. Paul Mitchell products are always solid, I actually love their root pump spray, I wish it had better hold but I find it to do a great job for volume. I'm not a huge fan of the Big Blowout, sometimes I like and other times I hate it lol but I've never felt like it gives really any fullness. You might like Small Talk or IGKs Bouncy Blowout Cream.
      You can always spritz your ends with some water after rough drying your ends ! I used to do that a lot when my hair was in a lob! Thanks for watching and glad you liked the video ❤️❤️

    • @SweetStuffOnMonarchLane
      @SweetStuffOnMonarchLane Рік тому

      @@StylesBySummer Oh, I've never tried Paul Mitchell root pump spray! Hmm, sounds like something I need!👍 Yeah, the Big Blow Out definitely does not make my hair 'big' lol! With the Paul Mitchell, I really didn't even have to use a brush while I was blowdrying, so it felt like I was doing less damage, because either way, I have to use a hot tool and texturizer spray or Redken Hot Sets to get any curl or volume in it. I think because my hair is SO fine, I seem to have better luck putting on styling aids when it's dry or dryer. If I try to use something on my wet/damp hair, the added texture makes it so a brush, or even my fingers, REALLY pulls on it. I can practically feel it snapping in two, eek! Even something like mousse, I will put on when my hair is half dry. I'll have to check out that Small Talk and that IGK Bouncy Blowout Cream, too! Creams might just be better for my type of hair. There's just something, I don't know, like there's a weird "coating" on my hair with that Redken Big Blow Out, but at the same time, it felt dry and I had bad flyaways... very strange.
      You know, I never thought about putting some water on my dryer areas after rough drying... I have done it beforehand, but it didn't seem to help much. It's funny you mention that you had a lob haircut... I've been thinking about getting one! I chickened out last time I got my hair cut and got some bangs, which about 5 minutes later I regretted because they kept going in my eyes, ur! Now I have to grow them out, dang it!
      I was thinking about getting one of those SRI DriQ hairdryers with the infrared in it... I guess it's supposed to be less damaging. I don't know, so much to research, lol! The only thing that worries me about the two Paul Mitchell products is, am I causing heat damage? They don't say anything about protecting the hair from the heat of the blowdryer, so do I have to use something in addition to them, or is it like I hear where you're not really causing damage blowdrying until your hair actually is dry and you're still keeping the hot air on it?

    I have curly/frizzy hair and blow dry my hair using the products you recommend. But what product will help KEEP the hold/style of the hair?
    Thank you 🥰

    I have always thought that air trying would cause less frizz. Is this not correct?
