Pete, that is heartbreaking news. We are very sorry the valve spring broke and stopped your MD. But we know you are a great mechanic and will be able to repair/replace parts and have it running again.

We were just up in Ithaca this morning for a swim meet at the college. I wanted to stop by the market to ask about your tractor. I agreed with my wife she said “ don’t bother him because she said I know how I am with something breaks on me” So good luck with your engine. I have learned more about rebuilding from you than anything I have ever worked on.

One fact about farming, whether with old equipment or new, you never know when something might go down. It's frustrating, I know very well, but the sun will come up tomorrow and the Son always is shining in your life. As I use to hear a lot from an older farmer when I was a kid, "Well, tomorrow's another day". God bless you and your family❤

N- "I feel bad.." C- This definitely makes me feel sad. The MD is not working..." B- "The spring broke! That's a bad thing. I'm glad Pete has a backup..." Well, there you have it, comments from the guys, genuine and heartfelt. Hang tough. Hay still happens!

Sorry to hear about the MD. You did such a beautiful job on the restoration and to have it run so well, this must be extremely frustrating. At least you have the skill set to assess and make the repairs. I always worry every time I run my MD that something like this will happen. Parts are getting harder to find and more expensive. It really is a labor of love to keep these old tractors running.

I’ve watched your video on the MD rebuild and know how much effort it took to rebuild it and to have that kind of catastrophic break down is really heart breaking! Had something very similar happen with me on my rebuild, so I know what it feels like. Hopefully there isn’t a lot of damage done to the head @ cylinder .

That’s pretty disheartening. But as you said, it’s no one’s fault and there’s nothing you can do but keep on keepin’ on. Quality products any more are getting harder and harder to find and in this case a simple “cheap” spring just cost the customer thousands of dollars.

So sorry to hear about the tractor...you have put in a lot of time on it. Thank goodness you have backups. It will be okay. How is Ezra? Love seeing the animals. Thanks Pete for your great videos.

When my children were small, I had a sign on my refrigerator that said,
    “ ATTITUDE is EVERYTHING !!
Be Sure Yours is a Positive One😊”
I really think that applies to you Pete as you always seem to have a positive attitude and I like that❣️❣️
Sorry about the tractor breaking down after you just got it running. It has to be frustrating but like you said, at least you got a couple others are still working!! I think this was one of the shortest videos you ever made and I was expecting it to go on for a while and then I looked and sure enough it was done. Darn❣️😊
Chin up I’ll always be another one❣️

Mr. Pete....it is discouraging when something like that happens. Many people don't realize how many hours it takes to restore something like
a well used tractor. I think you have done a marvelous job. The thing with well used vehicles is that sometimes they hide problems they have that are not apparent until later on. How in the world would you or your wonderful dad know this? Knowing you and your dad, you both will come up with a solution. I agree with you that it would be best to replace all the springs, cause if one goes, the others may be close behind. You got this.
