A brand new song by U2 "40 Foot Man" from their documentary "A Sort Of Homecoming." I was so inspired I had to learn it and record it right away. Dear U2, more music like this please. 😀 The song is available here • Video Best if listened to with headphones.
To watch a bass tutorial on how to play this, here is the link.

Very nice cover, well done! I can't seem to find an original anywhere?
Thanks so much. This was featured in the documentary with David Letterman. It has never been released and has been removed from UA-cam which is where I found it.
Thom!…first time I listen to this song….after viewing your cover and listen to it more times during the afternoon yesterday, is growing on me and your playing is top
notch, as always….it seems that I have to check the documentary as well. Thanks my friend and take care.

Woooooow this is the first time I'm hearing this song and it's BEAUTIFUL. I dunno if it's just me... but it has an Unforgettable Fire-esque vibe. Kind of a modern version of Promenade. Classic, classic U2 and Adam Clayton's bassline is so gorgeous and I just love how he went up and down the neck... very dynamic and you nailed every single note of it, man. I enjoyed this so much. What a first listen! Thanks a million for covering this one. OH and I can't submit this comment without praising the heck outta your tone. AMAZING. Crisp + fat... just perfect, Thom. BASS ON!
Thanks so much Dani!! I heard this and just had to learn it. It's been a while since U2 inspired me like that. Thanks so much for your support my friend. And so glad I got to introduce you to this song. Now go watch the documentary! BASS ON!!!

Really cool 😎. Nice cover
Thank you Clarke! I really like this song and the bass line just pulses and keeps it going. Thanks for watching.
Nice cover. Seems like ages you have been practicing it. Played it so natural on one take.👍
Thank you Ed! It's a simple but very effective bass line. I love the pulsing beat to it. Thanks for watching!
You are quick off the blocks to cover this new song Tom. You have to be the first person to do a bass cover of it. This is my first time hearing it and I’m glad I’m hearing a great bass tone in the mix. Will have to listen to the original to see if they’ve buried it in the mix like a lot of the time they do on poor Adam. What kind of pick ups are in them Lakland basses anyway because they sound damn hot! Great playing as usual mate!
Thank you so much Neil!! Niall sent me a link to this song yesterday and I loved it and was inspired. It's from the new documentary "A Sort Of Homecoming." I don't think Adam actually plays on this. Though it sounds like a bass line he would play. The pickups in that Lakland are a set of humcancelling Nordstrand vintage J pickups. The bass originally came with Lakland's vintage J pickups which were hotter and have that single coil hum, which I don't like.
Thanks for watching and the support!! I appreciate it, mate!
Thanks Thomas.
Thanks so much for the comment and for watching. I appreciate the support, Reda.
