Confirmed. Whenever this is played live The Edge and Adam switch instruments, with The Edge on bass playing this iconic bass line. The first time I saw that was the Live at Red Rocks Concert during the War Tour in 1983. And yes, in Chicago in 2005.

Jeff Ament is one talented bassist! No fret lines isn't that hard once you play it for a while. And a clean unlined fretboard looks so damn cool! And plus, I always love a good story song. @@thomasfioriglio Jeff Ament is such an amazing and versatile bassist. He can be so melodic and calm one minute but then shred like crazy the next! I really love his style and so much of Pearl Jam's unique sounds come from his work on the fretless + electric upright. Such a great band!!! Thanks so much Dani! This is the single version. I was all set to do the album track but the bass doesn't come in until about 2 minutes into the song. Niall recommended this. And live, the bass line is totally different, so I thought this was a good compromise. I also read Adam saying they prefer this version to the album one. So, there ya go. Yeah, very cool and very active functional bass line. I have to admit, this is my least favorite song on the album. I just can't connect with it. I've got So Cruel as the last one to complete the bass covers from album. Thanks so much for your amazing comment and support! BASS ON!!!!!!

Sadly no. My brother went to the show in Vegas and got me the shirt as a gift. So those shows celebrated Achtung Baby, so I figured this was a good song to wear it on. 😃

Thanks so much Damiano. I agree with you. Generally I don't like remixes, especially U2 remixes. But this one I like. And in doing some research, U2 preferred this over the album version. On the album version of the song, the bass doesn't come in until about two minutes and is not that interesting. Plus, when they play this live, Adam plays it very differently, mostly like the first part of this video. So, I decided to go with this Single Version. Thanks so much for watching! @@eethwd492 In the description above, I wrote out the notes to play. Should be easy to follow along. If you have any questions, just ask. As for my learning process, I always check for tabs first or other UA-cam vids (many of them are wrong or incomplete) and then I correct with my ear.
