U2 - "Love And Peace Or Else" Bass Tutorial
Hey there bass friends. Here is a tutorial on how to play U2's "Love And Peace Or Else" from their album "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb". I did listen to the isolated bass track, and even when isolated, with all the bass synths happening, it's not quite clear. But, I think I did a good job transposing the verses. It's a cool bass line that gives the song power and also grooves. If you have any questions or comments just leave them down below. And to watch my full bass cover of this song, here is the link ua-cam.com/video/IsLrl_5qiYE/v-deo.html

Hi Thomas. This is a song I don't like that much, but following the bass line you've highlightened (does this word exist?) has bene much fun.
Thank you Damiano. And I appreciate your honesty, my friend. There are a number of U2 songs that I don't like as well, and that's ok. I am glad you did enjoy the bass line and video. Thanks for watching and for the support!
Voilà un tuto qui pourrait me donner envie de reprendre du U2 ! Excellent choix ! et que dire de la version live de 2005 ! Bravo Thomas, ta science de la pédagogie se marie à merveille avec l'apprentissage de la basse ! Bravo ! 🙏
Merci Erwan! Thank you so much for those kind words. I enjoy making these and helping others. So glad this one may lead you back to U2, at least for one song. Wishing you the best, mon ami.

Thanks so much, Charles! I enjoy making these and helping others. So glad you liked this one. And thanks for the comment and support. I appreciate it.
In the Chicago 2005 version of 40 someone said that Edge and Adam had swapped instruments (Not literally) to get that lovely sound when Bono is lighting up the audience with that spotlight, can you confirm that Edge is playing Bass and Adam is making the sound like a Lead Guitar in that version? Please reply as it has puzzled me for years as to who is playing what.
Confirmed. Whenever this is played live The Edge and Adam switch instruments, with The Edge on bass playing this iconic bass line. The first time I saw that was the Live at Red Rocks Concert during the War Tour in 1983. And yes, in Chicago in 2005.
💚👍💚👍💚👍💚👍💚

Please keep it up Thomas it has helped me a great deal :)
Man, this was an absolutely gorgeous bass cover. Holy cow when you entered the song with that big, full, beautiful growl... it's almost like the notes are melting... they're so warm!! Incredible tone, Thom and your playing was as smooth as butter on a neck that DOESN'T EVEN HAVE FRET LINES!!! You're a wizard! 😂 I've always loved this song from VS but I never actually paid that much attention to the bassline until now. I'm gonna be replaying this video a good few times, haha. Amazing, amazing. BASS ON, BROTHER!!!!
Thank you so much Dani!! Those are some very kind words. I appreciate it! Yeah, this is such a cool fretless bass line. I believe it was recorded on an electric upright. Jeff Ament is one talented bassist! No fret lines isn't that hard once you play it for a while. And a clean unlined fretboard looks so damn cool! And plus, I always love a good story song. You have a fretless, give this one a go!!! BASS ON, BASS BROTHER!!!!
@@thomasfioriglio Jeff Ament is such an amazing and versatile bassist. He can be so melodic and calm one minute but then shred like crazy the next! I really love his style and so much of Pearl Jam's unique sounds come from his work on the fretless + electric upright. Such a great band!!! I'll def give this tune a shot on my fretless sometime, man. BASS ON, BASS BROTHER!!!
Sounds great as usual. Eddie at his best 💜💜
Thank you #1 fan! Such a good song. Thanks for watching!!!

Thank you so much Damiano! This bass has a beautiful tone. I absolutely love it! Thanks for comment. I appreciate the support my friend.
Is it FRETLESS?
Yes it is!!!
Awesome cover bass master. Great performance. Nice choice for a cover. Sounds great the bass. Is it a PJ just like the band?😁
Thanks so much Ed. Hahaha, yes it’s a PJ just like the band 😂 Very clever 😂 So glad you enjoyed this one. Thanks for watching.
Nice work Thomas. Jeff is the man. Loved their first 3 records in particular. This sounds great on that fretless. Killer tone 👍
Thanks Sean! Yes, I agree, first three records are fantastic. I lost interest after that. Jeff has some really creative fretless bass lines. I love the tone in this one. Thanks for watching!

Merci Erwan. One of the great American bands - Pearl Jam. And a beautiful fretless bass line by Jeff Ament. It fits the song so well. Thank you my friend.

Great song!!!
Thanks Bill!! Yeah, I heard this one on the radio and wanted to learn the bass line. So good.
Well, you certainly learned it!!!!
Woooooow how have I never heard this version before?!?!?! I am ultra familiar with the album version and even the Kindergarten Baby version but I have never ever heard this mix before!!! The bassline is SO good!!! There are some fantastic runs in there!!! Man, I need to have a go at this one myself. It looks like so much fun to play and you made it look so easy, Thom. Absolutely fantastic playing and super crispy tone, man. Wow. Let's spin this one AGAIN. BASS ON!!!!!
Thanks so much Dani! This is the single version. I was all set to do the album track but the bass doesn't come in until about 2 minutes into the song. Niall recommended this. And live, the bass line is totally different, so I thought this was a good compromise. I also read Adam saying they prefer this version to the album one. So, there ya go. Yeah, very cool and very active functional bass line. I have to admit, this is my least favorite song on the album. I just can't connect with it. I've got So Cruel as the last one to complete the bass covers from album. Thanks so much for your amazing comment and support! BASS ON!!!!!!
What about tour t shirt? Been to Vegas last year?
Sadly no. My brother went to the show in Vegas and got me the shirt as a gift. So those shows celebrated Achtung Baby, so I figured this was a good song to wear it on. 😃
Hi Thomas. I don't like remixes. Just prefer original versions. In this case both your choiche and your execution have been great! Cool, Deep, fat p sound!
Thanks so much Damiano. I agree with you. Generally I don't like remixes, especially U2 remixes. But this one I like. And in doing some research, U2 preferred this over the album version. On the album version of the song, the bass doesn't come in until about two minutes and is not that interesting. Plus, when they play this live, Adam plays it very differently, mostly like the first part of this video. So, I decided to go with this Single Version. Thanks so much for watching! And for the comment. I appreciate the feedback. Cheers!
VERY COOOOOOL! That was one dramatic bassline. Wow, when it comes in it instantly hits, man and I love all of the different intricacies it's got as the song progresses. Great tempo to play to as well... not too fast, not too slow, but perfect to steer the song and allow for some neat fills to be played here and there. This was a new song for me but I really dig it and I love how the bassline drives the song. Awesome cover, Thom. I enjoyed this one a LOT. BASS ON!!!!!!
Thanks so much Dani! This was a big hit here in the US for The Church. So glad you liked it. Thanks so much for watching! BASS ON!!!
Great cover again Thomas and really enjoy both your covers and tutorials. Thanks :)
Thanks so much Jonathan! That means a lot to me and I appreciate the kind words and support. Thanks so much for watching!
Great playing bass master. Haven't heard this version before. The bass line is the same as the original? Solid grooving👍👍
Thank you Ed! This version is slightly different. On the album, the bass doesn't come in until about 2 minutes into the song at the second verse. This is the single version and from what I read, the version U2 like best. However, when U2 now play this live, the bass line is completely different. Thanks for watching! I appreciate your kind words and support my friend.
@thomasfioriglio thanks for the explanation.
Sooooo impressive Thom!. Well done my friend. Catchy bass line that easily drives the song. Thanks for the gift!.
Thanks so much Enrique! I appreciate the very kind words and support. Thanks for watching my friend. So glad you enjoyed this one. Cheers!
Thomas ! Bravo !
Merci Erwan. I have to admit, this is my least favorite song on that album 😂 For whatever reason, it just doesn't appeal to me. With that said, I did enjoy discovering this bass line, especially in this remix version. Thank you for your support and friendship. Cheers.
That was great!!!
