Arfcom is one of the safest forums out there,(20 years and over 150 great purchases without a problem), just follow the safety rules and you should be fine,
Fixed sights never fail. Should have stuck with what you had. That being said, the Geissele rails are amazing.

I use a BCM stubby on my rifle and I absolutely love it. It's nice and short and make a nice hand rest. I also don't use the grip the way others use it. Usually only my ring finger and pinky finger are resting on it and I grab the rail. BCM makes some really solid products
That's exactly how I intend to use it too.
I own several Geissele rails. They are rock solid. I install them on all of our service rifles too. Primary Arms always has a decent supply on them.
I'm a Geissele believer. They know how to machine a part.

You'll never be happy if it isn't the Block II. I'm building a Block II clone and just picked up a Ris II non-FSP from the EE on AR15.com. I also found a Surefire 4 prong and pulled a M4A1 lower from a new SOCOM Colt I picked up. Keep your head up and continue with the build. P.S,., I would have gone with the MK12 gas block, though. That's what I did.

It doesn't HAVE to be taupe for correctness. From what I understand yes taupe was the main but black was also used for a fact
If you are looking for a new AR build project, I highly recommend building an M16A1 clone. It is the most aesthetically pleasing iteration of the M16.
I do all of my "clones" in Black, I know to be correct the color is wrong, but I like black guns. I have a SOOMOD Block II non FSB and Mk18 mod 1, both all blacki was surprised at how much shorter the Knights M4 Micro front sight is than a Daniel Defense fixed front sight, it's a good .25" shorter
Same, though I have the RIS ii in FDE, the rest of my MK18 is black. Love it.

12" MI t series is really close and very solid. I use them and they are only 200 bucks
Nice AR. Built mine a few years ago and the parts for these are all over the place. I chose to go the cheep route and my riffle is heavy. In time I will swap out parts to get it lighter. Hope you get your rail.

I added the LARGE KNOB KAC 600m with the M4 KAC front folder .

If you end up going with the G-rail, you SHOULD be fine without having to take off the muzzle device. You should be able to just pop the gas tube retaining pin out of the gas block, remove the gas tube that way, and then take a barrel wrench and get the DD hardware off.
The geissele gas block is good, but since you've already got a shaved FSP you won't have any clearance issues, and you get to retain the pinning which is theoretically more reliable.
That's a good point. The Geissele gas block has the option to use a cross-pin, but I'd need a drill press to install it. Otherwise, it's just set screws, which even if you dimple the barrel, still aren't as bomb-proof as the cut down FSP.

I think the Geissele block is likely overall a better product if you can get it done correctly, (their "bomb proof" installation with the pinning), but then you're adding the expense of the pin weld job and the block pinning.
The G-rails are legit products though. If your heart is set on the DD, (and you aren't already there), CRA Service Rifle Clones on facebook reopened their "secret" equipment exchange recently, and they pop up fairly frequently.

After 3 months I FINALLY got an email saying my my KAC M4 sight is shipping to me! - I’ve got the Geissele URGI, and I’ve got to say that rail is pretty amazing- though it’s just not a DD RIS II when it comes to looks. That being said it is being adopted by USASOC, so it’s sorta still inline for a clone.
Did you use the micro rear sight? I'm worries it'll be too short for my kac m4 front sight

I've got a Webley Hurricane .22 with tele scope but I shoot Beer Cans with that.
Definitely go with the Geissele rail and the KAC sights. I've essentially got the same build only with a 16" FN barrel and mid-length gas tube.
I'm leaning that way I think!

Get a tacswap account it's like $15 to sign up and u can literally but anything you want one there lots of ris II rails on there regularly for decent prices. It's like ebay for gun parts but usually no scalpers like gun broker

I might make use of the Geissele in a future build. They make great parts.
Crane recently declared mlok superior to keymod and they're looking for a mlok rail for their next sopmod update. If they were going to go with one they'd pick Geissele probably. Keep the sights and go with the Geissele rail and you may have a block three before there is a block three officially.
I've heard. Geissele already makes a rail for the HK 416 for the military, so it's very possible that they'll go with Geissele for "Block III," of course, who knows if the rifle will even be the same platform by then?
Is the b5 sopmod in coyote brown clone correct for the m4a1 block 2?
Most people would say FDE, but stocks are easily replaceable in the field, so I say, go for it.
Thats darn close to the new BlockIII rail. Do some digging, and see if you cant find one from the Geissele SOCOM upper. The BlockIII Program is showed/said to be running a T1/T2 as a primary optic on the Army side. Hope you get things worked out man. Sorry you got screwed. Usually the clone community is tight knit and honorable. Hope it doesnt steer you away!
I got mine in black I didn't like the taupe kinda wish I wouldn't have got black now
Just a heads up with the front you have; Its common and not rare at all. I just sold my brand new Anodized bronze front sight by KAC for $350. Way more rare than this every day taupe sight. Just an FYI.
This video was made almost 4 years ago. It was exceedingly rare and expensive then.

get the geissele rail! looks like they may even end up getting the new socom contract anyways. buying another RIS rail will put you back a pretty penny, secondary market prices are not worth it in my opinion. if i didnt already have a mk18 ris rail i certainly would get the geissele hands down.

Although it's cool, it's amazing/ridiculous what folks will pay for cloning a military rifle...the sad part is the US military does not pay any where near these prices!
Yep, the military definitely gets a hefty "bulk" discount. Part of the fun is trying to hunt down the parts without having to pay the ridiculous prices.
I’ve been considering doing either a Block 2 clone or just buying the Block 3 clone (URG-I) that Geissele sells........but there’s just something about the Block 2 that is appealing. I’ve been going back and forth on FSP version versus non...can’t make my mind up. Why did you decide to go non FSP version when you already had a Block 2 complete in the FSP version? Hoping your rationale can help give me some thinking points. Let’s take money out of the discussion and just pretend both DD rail systems are equally costed and equally available. Thanks for any info!

Geissele makes excellent rails. If you go that way check out Kinetic development group Knekt mounts for Mlok. Amazing stuff. They have a UA-cam channel. 👍

Nobody likes that rail in front of the front sight base on the sides are okay but not to talk Centurion makes a good one but they are expensive as well

Put your QD swivel farther out on your rail. It will get in the way where you had it previously. Get the super gas block from Geissele

People are extremely brave these days. One would think any business remotely related to firearms would be 100% honest. Common sense would say blatant fraud and breaking the law may cost you the right to own firearms yourself. The more obvious would be I wouldn't want pissed off ARMED customers looking for and coming after me. It never amazes me how incredibly stupid some people are. I hope he was banned off AR15.com. Would have been even better if charges were brought against him or a bunch of members hunted him down and beat his ass.
I got in touch with the mods, and they did ban him, but other members said that he might have already been banned and then created a different identity to rejoin the forum. That would have been good information to have! 🙄
