Octomom was only 34 with 14 kids. She wasn't menopausal or some ridiculous age having babies. Her invitro treatment changed a lot of state laws, making it so Medicaid wouldn't cover treatment of infertility anymore in many states.
I mean, medicaid probably shouldn't have covered fertility treatment in the first place. The income threshold to qualify for medicaid is quite low and I'm not saying poor people shouldn't have babies, per se, but if they're struggling to support themselves, is bringing a child into it, a child who will inevitably do without in life, really a good idea? Not to mention how many children are in foster care or being given up for adoption right now. It costs far less to help a child who already exists than it does to pay for medical intervention to have more children. Plus, there are governmental stipends and assistance to help take on foster children which are not available to those who have bio kids.
My dad was over 13 pounds when he was born. He was the youngest of seven and his oldest sister was pregnant with her first at the same time. He was born in 1920 and they lived on a farm in Oklahoma. She gave birth at home with a midwife.
I had always had problems with pregnancy. Getting pregnant was no problem, but STAYING pregnant certainly was. I had all kinds of problems with my hormones that caused me to be entirely random about when or if I ovulated, and how many eggs I would put out at once. It ALSO caused me to miscarry early in my pregnancies, usually by the end of the first trimester. I had just lost a baby at 3 months, 3 months before. Going to the ER with what I THOUGHT was stomach flu symptoms. I was diagnosed with pregnancy, and they made me an OBGYN appointment for the next day. I told the doctor about the previous miscarriage, and told him I couldn't be 5 months pregnant. That I either had to be 3 months pregnant again, or 6 months pregnant with the twin of the one I lost. he ordered an ultrasound (rare and new in 1979), which showed I was INDEED 5 months pregnant. I described the baby I had lost, and he confirmed that it was indeed a 3 month fetus. He said the only explanation was that I had to have gotten pregnant with the younger baby when already pregnant with the one I lost. I asked him why I hadn't lost both, and he said I must have been carrying the older twin below the other one where passing it didn't affect the second child. That was long ago, my daughter, who I ended up carrying a month OVERDUE will be 43 in August.
Me too i had a major issue as to y i couldnt stay prego...i recently found oud out that i have hypokalemia which is low potassium n potassium is important in cell building. So the zygote would b formed but i didnt have enough potassium to put towards the cellular structure of the baby so i would miscarry often. Got that issue resolved n now im 2months along woohoo!!!!! I miscarried one of my multiples too...just glad the other stayed☺️☺️☺️☺️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰. I often miscarried within the first month
I was a teen mom pregnant with fraternal twins. I had no complications but I was put in best. I gave birth to them when I was 15. They weighed in at my son was 7lbs 13oz and my daughter weighed in 6lbs 13 oz also both 21 inches long. My kids are both college graduates. As well as I am. I have two granddaughters my sons girls. Now I’m 48 and a grandma. I love my children and granddaughters my college education took me to a path inI being a teacher. Blessing to all those that have children they are a blessing.

My husband was born after 41 weeks. His dad says that "he just did not want to be here yet" and it shows when he has to wake up in the morning, almost impossible to get him up on time lol 😂
my son was 12 days late. I went into labor the day before I was scheduled to be induced. I spent 19 1/2 hours in labor then had to have a c-section because he was stuck, quickest 20 pounds I ever lost though (and I only gained 22 pounds during my pregnancy)
My great-aunt had a double uterus, and gave birth to two girls, four months apart. The family called them the twins, even tho they technically weren't actually twins.
I was born at 27 weeks in 1983. My mum was given an emergent c section with no pain relief to save my life. My hospital ( a big district hospital) didn’t even have an intubation tube that small in those days and had to have one flown from the city. After 3 strokes, 2 collapsed lungs and many, many units of blood the medical staff gave up but thanks to my dad who didn’t leave my side for a month in the nicu I’m still alive! Still considered a mirical baby by the hospital.
My mother was having a placental abruption and was bleeding out, I was dying and she was a nurse and knew what was at stake. They did it and saved both of us that day. She was literally superhuman
I knew a kid who was a twin. His organs were mirrored of his brothers, meaning his heart was on the right side of his body. Unfortunately, his brother didn't make it due to being born prematurely, but I can imagine the confusion for any new doctor he has checking his heart
Yeah, I babysat for a girl who had a medical alert bracelet stating that her organs were reversed. She was adopted from India by a Norwegian couple who lived in Fairbanks, Alaska. She was the surviving twin (or possibly they were adopted separately? but I heard "surviving twin" from the parents) and was otherwise healthy. She had her own babies normally, as the uterus is in the middle, thus it should remain centered and normal.
Not sure if this “ breaks a record” or not but my sisters second baby was born with no brain … litteraly just a brain stem. Doctors said she wouldn’t survive birth. She ended up surviving for 2 years …. She was an angel so precious. It was a short life but going above and beyond doctors expectations … two years!!!
my godmother was misdiagnosed when she was a little girl and they had to remove her uterus. a couple of months after her recovery she started having complications down there again but went to another doctor who ended up finding out the real issue. she was never able to have kids because the previous doctor removed her uterus for nothing. that's why my mom chose her to be my godmother and why my godmother and I are so close. she was practically like a second mother for me. even though she's my cousin i still consider her as an aunt and she's the best aunt i could have ever hoped for
her family tried suing that doctor but for whatever reason the judge said he wasn't liable for what happened and the lawyer they hired didn't appeal his ruling. like how the fuck wasn't he liable? he just went ahead with the operation without her parents permission. she couldn't consent to it. her parents weren't there because she was flown down south to Toronto from northern Ontario
There's a case out there of a woman who's kids didn't match her DNA. She was doing something I forget what and a DNA test was taken but her kids didn't match her. Turns out it was her unborn twin's kids because it was her DNA. She had to fight in court about it too.
I think what you are saying is that the mother is a chimera. Sometimes fraternal twins will meld together in the uterus to become one person. Then, certain parts of that person will have DNA from one of the twins and the rest of the body will have DNA from the other twin. So the DNA in the ovaries may be different from DNA take from a mouth swab. Any children she gives birth to will have the DNA from the ovaries.
I remember that case! She was trying to get Government Assistance and when the court did the blood test she was accused of trying to defraud the government. What helped her was she was pregnant at the time and gave the okay for a court official to be in the room as she gave birth. The second that baby was born it was taken for a DNA test against hers and had the same results as it’s siblings, so she wasn’t charged and was actually issued an apology by the judge.
I had a cryptic pregnancy, I had stomach issues went to the hospital and came back with a baby! Traumatic, but I didn't have ANY symptoms so I didn't have to deal with morning sickness and cravings 👌
Why would any doctor agree to or allow to be a part of allowing a 73 year old to carry a baby. How far is this to the child when at that age the parent could pass in several years, and what ability will someone of that age be able to do what a young parent can do. This is just wrong. I feel so sorry for the baby.
@@lifeisshort.stopwastingyou9600 because it is seriously unethical that's why... those poor babies will end up parentless by the time they're old enough to start school.. these people selfishly made a choice to be parents at the end of their lives not even thinking about the consequences of their choices and the quality of their daughters lives and how becoming parents at the age where they're supposed to be grandparents will affect the future of their children.
@@lifeisshort.stopwastingyou9600wow, really, not much intelligence coming from your brain. How fair is it to a baby with parents that age. They probably won’t live much longer and they sure aren’t going to be able to do things with that child young parents can. How fair is that. Try thinking outside the box and feeling what that child will eventually thing. Try some common sense
I'm puzzled on this as well. I don't want to judge the lady, but I am wondering why she didn't try the method of artificial insemination earlier? Was it cost? Lack of technology? Resources? Just wanted to break a record? Or was she determined to try conceiving naturally until giving up and trying a different method? I feel like I am missing out on a lot of her story. Regardless it has happened and now I hope the best for her and her children.
Feodor Vassilyev (1707-1782) was a peasant from Shuya, Russia. His first wife is said to have lived to be 76, and between 1725 & 1765, had 69 children (16 pairs of twins, 7 sets of triplets, and 4 sets of quadruplets); 67 of them survived infancy with the loss of one set of twins: the record for most children born to a single woman. However, their names, dates of birth, and dates of death are all unknown.
having babies at 74 is seriously ethically questionable.. how long on average do they have left? 6-9 years?.. choosing to become parents at the end of their lives means they are sentencing those poor kids on a life without parents at their most crucial age... im almost 27 and the youngest of 3 and i still feel mortified and lost every time i think i could loose my parents due to their old age... imagine having that happen to a freaking toddler.. not to mention their quality of life being lower in the first place due to all the immobility that comes naturally at that age... i'm shocked that there is a doctor in this world who actually approved such a procedure... and their excuse was that they couldn't have kids their whole life? that only means they had 50 years to adopt a child... instead they opted for the act of ultimate selfishness completely disregarding their children's future.. bravo for them.
As I remember, the doctor did receive a LOT of criticism for allowing this. He came under a lot of rebuke from his peers as well as the press. I don't know if he is still practicing or not. And I hate to say it, but I agree about the extreme selfishness here (and in a few other cases mentioned in the video). Maybe the donor mother is still involved in their lives????
This is like telling people not to allow the grandparents to help with the kids. Parents die all the time and leave their kids in the custody and care of the grandparents. You’re not going to say that’s unethical right? Anything those grandparents can do, that old lady and her husband can do. My paternal grandmother had my dad at 48 and she’s going to be 100 this year in December. I think it honestly depends on the health of the person. The video said the 74 year old woman was kept on observation in the hospital but she never had any health conditions or complications and birthed her two girls just fine. She could live to 100 and her daughters would be 26 years old when she passed. She had no health conditions at 74 which means she was very healthy. It’s likely she could live past 100.
nobody can decide that for others. Everybody is different, experiences and lives are be different. if they are not there anymore they will still have family to help. Even if you're young and healthy you can still die tomorrow and live your children without parents. So what ? If you want a child and can have one, nobody can tell you not to have it, and vice versa.
@@Curlsl oh pls. Losing a parent is traumatizing at any age. Having to deal with such trauma as a small child just bcuz someone finally made a decission they should've made 50 years ago is a picture perfect example of selfishness. And u can't compare an accident or an unexpected illness of a young parent dieing with an elderly couple who literally know for a fact they will leave a toddler or a young teen parentless and still go through it.💀 I don't care how "tolerant" u are this level of unethical can't be justified by "oh it's none of ur business just be nice" 😒

My Dad weighed three pounds and his Mom was told to take him home he is going to die. He would be 85 now. He was 6 foot 3 and about 250 pounds. Amazing that he lived.
Buela in 40's probably had a ghost pregnancy and then actually got pregnant during that time. Rare for a woman to ovulate during pregnancy but not unheard of. This is why they couldn't find the baby's heartbeat, Penny didn't exist yet.
There is one where a mum was pregnant for 70 YEARS. If I remember correctly, she started having contractions but they stopped. In the end the baby calcified with no complications!!! I think it happened in India.

Yup, I have a cousin with 2 uteruses. My pregnancy with my son was almost a stealth pregnancy because I didn’t have any signs or symptoms until I was 5 months pregnant. My delivery was 43 hours, from the time my water broke until the baby came out my who-ha. My labor actually started, and was confirmed in the hospital, with contractions three weeks before my water broke (I was dilated 2 centimeters and just walking around like that 😅) Pregnancy is a strange and complicated thing. My paternal grandmother had my dad at 48. She and her daughter (in her 20’s at the time) were pregnant at the same time.
@@BaconQweenRoblox having five at once must have been intense. It’s awesome that your water didn’t break sooner because multiples typically are born prematurely. And delivered by caesarean. My son was born at 38 weeks and 5 days. I had multiple ob/gyn’s because of not knowing I was pregnant for the first five months, and the first ob/gyn said I had to carry to 40 weeks exactly or there would be problems with the baby. I had a hunch that I wasn’t going to make it to 40 weeks and she was scolding me for saying so. She also had all kinds of backwards things to say about pregnancy weight and testing for Down syndrome at 26, with no family history, which made me decide to switch hospitals. But then the next ob/gyn told me that by 22 weeks a baby was typically viable and had good odds of surviving so long as I delivered in a hospital with a prenatal care unit. And that every week past that just meant even better odds. She said by 30 weeks the baby is almost guaranteed to survive, outside of any unforeseen circumstances. She said my weight gain was fine and there was really only a need to test for Down Syndrome if you were over 35, or by 30 if it runs in your family, but most people choose not to test because they’re just happy to have a baby and it doesn’t make any difference to them if it has two chromosomes or three. Lol The third OB/GYN I had was a wonderful woman who sent me for labs and when they came back fine, and everything on ultrasound was fine, and the pregnancy related diabetes test was negative, etc she said to continue what I’m doing and not worry about the rest. She said that if I made it 38 weeks the baby was pretty much fully developed and they consider it full term. While giving birth to my son I dropped 45 lbs. And was back at my pre-pregnancy weight by the time they weighed me in the recovery room. My son was long and skinny 7 lbs 9 oz and I remember the nurse saying he was 22 inches long but my mother in law insists he was 21 inches. The placenta was huge at 7 lbs 5 oz and the nurse had it in a bag she placed on the scale with two hands. It’s definitely not the same as pushing out 5 babies (you’re a champ for that) but I basically birthed twins out my who-ha. My son didn’t struggle or get distressed at all during my labor, he took a nap in the middle lol. But it took me forever to fully dilate and then 6 straight hours of pushing. I was incredibly exhausted. I thought I was going to die. I saw my deceased grandmother’s face looking back at me when I saw my son for the first time. He looked just like her. I didn’t learn until years later that “visions” of loved ones are a sign of impending death. Knowing that now, I hope I get to see my grandmother again at the end. I miss her all the time. I spent 3 days in the recovery room in and out of consciousness before I was well enough to go home. But my son and I are healthy enough and well enough now :). No worries. Pregnancy can be a magical experience, birth is almost always challenging (not usually as challenging as birthing 5 at once or going for almost 2 straight days but sometimes it can take up to 5 days), but the whole reason we do it is to have that little human in our arms when it’s all said and done, and to get to take them home (when mom and baby are both ready).

Not so much a miracle as a weird coincidence. During the process of giving birth to my youngest son, the umbilical chord wrapped around his throat, cutting off his breathing. I was luckily able to give birth quickly enough that I didn't need an emergency C-section, and my son was perfectly healthy. At about the same time as his breathing was cut off (from what we noted in hindsight, since it was less obvious in the moment), I started having a severe asthma attack and had to be put on oxygen. It had been years since I'd had such a severe attack, and with everything going on, I didn't immediately recognize what was happening until I realized I didn't have enough breath to speak anymore. So, yeah, big coincidence that my baby and I were struggling to breathe at the same time for two wholly different reasons. Crazy, right?
When I was born, my umbilical cord had tangled around my body. Their was a chance that I may not survive. But I was okay (no surprise). Even though a small part of my right ear was severed, I've had no problem. Thank God!
My son was born with no heartbeat due to having the cord wrapped around his neck SEVEN TIMES. The doctor had to go inside me with scissors to cut the cord before he could come out. He was a deep blue color, but they managed to bring him back, and his health has been excellent ever since. He's now in his late 30s, spent 4 years in the military, and is ornery as ever!
it's a long story but the short version is that when i found out i was pregnant with my second son i was almost 5 months along. felt like the shortest pregnancy in history to me. he came out over 8 pounds so, he was healthy. i like to say he was my surprise kid.
If I’m correct, this is called a cryptic pregnancy, where the pregnancy isn’t detected until after, I think, 20 weeks, but may not be detected until the pregnant person goes into labor!
I know someone who has 2 uterus and carried twins, one in each uterus, delivered 2 babies that are grown today. One baby had some disabilities due to the birth, but both are well.
The statistic on more difficulty after the age of 34 is not always accurate. Why, my mom had me at 39 and my brother at 41. And we're all still kicking.
I'm 32 with hopefully my fourth live birth, my 9th pregnancy. None of my previous pregnancies were this hard. All I do is sleep and puke. Not to mention back and hip pain are way more prominent with this pregnancy. The only thing I can think of is I'm in my thirty's now. However my mother and I both had our thirteen year olds 6 weeks apart and she was in her late 40s with her easy pregnancy!
Yep….i had my fourth child at 38 and my 5th at 40. (Both home births), no complications. All grown and healthy. A friend had twins at 42 (3rd pregnancy) and a surprise pregnancy at 45. Again, no complications and all grown and healthy.
no one ever said a man got pregnant tho... it's your own damn lack of education that can't differentiate a man from a trans man... and yet here you are thinking you we're saying something smart... 🤷♂🤷♀
I was originally due with my eldest on my birthday. We joke that he was so desperate to avoid sharing with me that he came 2 months early, lol. (I was due in December, he was born @32 weeks in October).
Me and my brother were born only about 2 days apart, though we were in the womb together. Now my brother brags by saying he is older. But he seems more childish
My moms pregnancy was weird she didn’t show any symptoms of being pregnant until around 9 hours before I was born when her legs started swelling. Luckily I was pretty healthy and only about a month early according to the doctors.
honestly, my mother also carried me for 12 months I was supposed to be born in September 1996 but I was born in December 1996 but I was still born late born on the 29th
I'm fourteen and male, but these stories are interesting, and I might learn some of the terminology used for stuff like this next year, when I am in Biology.
This is the story when I was born: One day it was a normal day in my old house except that I was supposed to be born in 3 weeks. My dad was a musician and was playing a show away from home. They were not ready for a baby yet, and then the impossible happened: My mom started feeling stomach pain. She called her friend to take her to the hospital. It turns out I was being born 3 weeks early. And since My mom's friend was there and my dad wasn't, Technically my mom's friend knew me before my dad did.
Having a genetic disorder and mutation myself im a bit disgusted by the extremely short ladys idea to have children, why even risk your children having to deal with the same issues you did in life, suffer as you did. Its why ive personally had to give up on having blood children despite having had want to my entire life. Plan to adopt when I am in a position to do so. Note; Im not judging her merely stating the idea itself disgusts me a bit due to my personal reasoning.
I don't know if i would ever be a great father and dad, but then, i'm only a 24 year old guy, and i'm single. I do at some point want to become a father and dad, but i want to meet someone first, which i haven't done yet. And as a biological man, meaning i was born a male, i can't really give birth, because i don't have a womb
Thanks to pre-eclampsia, my mom had to have an emergency c section. So I was born about 12 weeks early and I didn’t even weigh a pound. Somebody decided to get this loaf of bread that was shaped like a bear and take a picture of me next to it. It was bigger than me. Sorry that was supposed to say 2 pounds not 1. I spent about 3 months in the NICU and was 5 lbs and was allowed to go home
Weirdly I thought this video might make me a little uncomfortable because I thought I might get grossed out honestly no offese to anyone baring a child I just do not enjoy talking about the reproductive system. When I was a kid I would be forced to take the “health class” and all of the boys in the class were unnecessarily rude and it was torture. Honestly this video goes to show how amazing women are. They enable the survival of species and they have to go through a very painful process, granted I imagine being a mother is an amazing experience but I am infertile so I wouldn’t know. As usual you never cease to amaze us, be amazed! 🎉
I only gained 6 lbs with my first pregnancy. My son was 7 lbs 3 ozs. He was fully healthy. The nurses thought I was kidding when I went into labor, I only had a tiny bump. 10 hrs later, my boy was born. Left the hospital in size 3 shorts. My subsequent boys made up for the size issue, I gained much more weight with them.
Me and my sis are miracle babies. We almost died. But its not me who is the true miracle. My sister is. She was about to be born and then when she was being born her and my mother were left there for a long time like about 3-5 hours. My sister had her umbibical cord wrapped around her neck. She received more un-needed fluids than neccesary. But a doctor helped deliver her before it was too late. I still remember walking into the room to see a somewhat healthy little child. Its amazing what can happen and how it is.
A man did give birth - just not a biological one. If you believe genitalia decide gender (like me) then yes - she became a man. He was not biologically male however; of course, biological males do not have uteruses. Science still has A LOT to go before a transgender person becomes biologically what they transitioned to.
I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant, I’m praying that my pregnancy goes smoothly 🥰

my son was 12 days late.
Irish twins.
How are they doing now?
I was born at 27 weeks in 1983. My mum was given an emergent c section with no pain relief to save my life.
My hospital ( a big district hospital) didn’t even have an intubation tube that small in those days and had to have one flown from the city. After 3 strokes, 2 collapsed lungs and many, many units of blood the medical staff gave up but thanks to my dad who didn’t leave my side for a month in the nicu I’m still alive! Still considered a mirical baby by the hospital.
You are a miracle! 🙏 ❤
did your mother make it? a c section, cutting someone open with no pain relief seems overly barbaric
Whoa
Not sure if this “ breaks a record” or not but my sisters second baby was born with no brain … litteraly just a brain stem. Doctors said she wouldn’t survive birth. She ended up surviving for 2 years …. She was an angel so precious. It was a short life but going above and beyond doctors expectations … two years!!!
That is amazing. And heartbreaking, too. 🥲
Incredible! That probably does break a record, but there could be some other kid at 3 years old

my godmother was misdiagnosed when she was a little girl and they had to remove her uterus. a couple of months after her recovery she started having complications down there again but went to another doctor who ended up finding out the real issue. she was never able to have kids because the previous doctor removed her uterus for nothing. that's why my mom chose her to be my godmother and why my godmother and I are so close. she was practically like a second mother for me. even though she's my cousin i still consider her as an aunt and she's the best aunt i could have ever hoped for
her family tried suing that doctor but for whatever reason the judge said he wasn't liable for what happened and the lawyer they hired didn't appeal his ruling. like how the fuck wasn't he liable? he just went ahead with the operation without her parents permission. she couldn't consent to it. her parents weren't there because she was flown down south to Toronto from northern Ontario
@@isaiahachvery unfortunate to happen
There's a case out there of a woman who's kids didn't match her DNA. She was doing something I forget what and a DNA test was taken but her kids didn't match her. Turns out it was her unborn twin's kids because it was her DNA. She had to fight in court about it too.
She was a chimera. They basically had to dna her kids as soon as they came out.
@Elle R Probably. Still very strange.
Ah yes I’ve heard of this, it is pretty crazy.

Why would any doctor agree to or allow to be a part of allowing a 73 year old to carry a baby. How far is this to the child when at that age the parent could pass in several years, and what ability will someone of that age be able to do what a young parent can do. This is just wrong. I feel so sorry for the baby.
100% agree..
why are you sorry for the baby? they're alive...
This was absolutely astounding! I didn't know about a lot of these, really fascinating ❤❤
If she was really healthy during her pregnancy and delivery even at that age, she'll probably around and kicking long enough to see them to adulthood.

Yup, I have a cousin with 2 uteruses.
My pregnancy with my son was almost a stealth pregnancy because I didn’t have any signs or symptoms until I was 5 months pregnant. My delivery was 43 hours, from the time my water broke until the baby came out my who-ha. My labor actually started, and was confirmed in the hospital, with contractions three weeks before my water broke (I was dilated 2 centimeters and just walking around like that 😅)
Pregnancy is a strange and complicated thing.
My paternal grandmother had my dad at 48. She and her daughter (in her 20’s at the time) were pregnant at the same time.
Dang, I’m sorry for you, I had 5 kids at once and my water broke at 38 weeks
But I’m happy to be a mom to seven now 😊
@@BaconQweenRoblox having five at once must have been intense.
Lol
The third OB/GYN I had was a wonderful woman who sent me for labs and when they came back fine, and everything on ultrasound was fine, and the pregnancy related diabetes test was negative, etc she said to continue what I’m doing and not worry about the rest.

Sorry that was supposed to say 2 pounds not 1. I spent about 3 months in the NICU and was 5 lbs and was allowed to go home
how are u alive then
Pictures or it didn't happen
that thumbnail almost got me😂😂😂
2:56 Uh… for the people with… kinks?
A man still cant get pregnant
Exactly.
A man did give birth - just not a biological one. If you believe genitalia decide gender (like me) then yes - she became a man. He was not biologically male however; of course, biological males do not have uteruses. Science still has A LOT to go before a transgender person becomes biologically what they transitioned to.
He was transgender
@vangelina09😂 true.
Fr that dude was still considered female by biology
My daughter had a friend who was born with a 10% chance of survival and she is alive to this day
it's not bizarre that a woman pretending to be a man got pregnant.
Even after transgender treatment, the sexual organs remain the same, so he still had a uterus despite being technically male.
She prob trans😂
They are trans
