I used to work for sky chef LSG. I can confirm that the ice and water used on service carts doesn't come from any on board tank. Bagged Ice is brought on in a cooler tray and is stored in the service carts. Coffee and tea is made from bottled water. Sky chef services: delta, Hawaiian, southwest, united, American and other airlines. I used to pack those carts.
Huh cool
@@Dovah_Slayer Hmm neat
@@Dovah_Slayer LOL...DAD JOKES😋😆😆😆
I thought that sounded fishy. I would think government regulations would prevent that from happening. However, just what are the water tanks used for? If you know.

I'm "old school"; it seems that when folks were expected to dress-up to travel, they behaved better. Even "business casual" set a tone for restrained manners. And this affected travel on planes, buses, and trains, alike.
I agree….I dress better to garden than some people I’ve encountered on flights…..smell better too!!!

I love that "Old School." The other day I made a call and someone answered immediately. I told the lady I was in shock and happy to hear a real voice and not a Robot. She laughed and told me "We're still "Old School." We laughed through our conversation 😅
I typically blow the air vent right in my face. I will use multiple ones if others aren’t seated around me. To me, airplanes can be a little claustrophobic, so having cool air on my face helps relieve that feeling for me.
well im not clausthrophobic but having fresh cold air in my face is just comfy
I do that as well! I love the air blowing on me. It helps me feel less claustrophobic.

Back in the day, flying was considered a semi-formal event, we wore new dresses and shiny shoes, brother in a new shirt and long pants, mom and dad dressed conservatively, manners were expected all around. It was a pleasant experience.
You shouldn't be allowed on a plane in shorts

Yep, as a female, do not want to sit next to someone not adequately clothed, not a prude, just don't want others bodily moisture or parts slip out and around.
Unless they’re a hot girl I’m not down.
I agree. She knew better
I'd be happy to trade the passenger next to me with that hotty.
Humans dont deserve to have little clothing on because they are hairless
Yeah get dressed!
I'm just glad that the guy who hacked the PA didn't have any goals other than to annoy the passengers and crew. It's really scary to think that any devices on a plane can be hacked. Even annoying the pilots could be really dangerous since they need to be in full focus flying the plane. Luckily no one was hurt.
Commercial airliners actually fly themselves VIA computers these days. Pilots are seldomly needed
"AGHUUH"

Basically anything with a computer in it/on it can be "hacked".
@@j.scottcaudill7543 Wrong, the autopilot's only purpose is so that the pilots dont have to do the entire thing, no autopilot could acually replace a pilot for another few decades.
he was prolly a hostage flight engineer and trapped in the lower decks so he hacked the pa system and was moaning cause it was 3 straight long hours before the flight took off when he got trapped. The engineer hasn't been seen to this day, and some say you can still hear the moaning. lol
In my time when Pan Am was still in service, flying was considered a luxury and people boarded the planes with best of behaviors and gratitudes especially wearing formal or semi formal outfits. The services, food, drinks and tokens from the flights were one of the best qualities and memories of the times will not be faded and forgotten for my generations.
Flying then was an unique experience not everyone could have as people do now.
I do agree! I love flying. I am 73 and had my first flight when I was nearly 2 years old. How grateful I am for the wonderful "old" flying times! So elegant and smart. Beautiful menus and wider seats and we wore lovely clothes. I still dress good these days. Happy flying!

When i flew in early 1990s, a lot of crap people do today, wasnt done or tolerated back then.
Clapping on landing typically occurs when there has been extreme turbulence or an otherwise difficult flight. If people clapping bothers you, just ignore it and don't participate. I have been on more than one flight with bad turbulence and yes, we did clap on landing. It displays respect for the obviously difficult control issues the flight crew experienced.
Exactly. And even if there are no bad turbulence or issues during the flight, I'd still clap because it's simply a sign of respect towards something as difficult as flying. After all the most dangerous parts during flight is taking off and landing. Even if absolutely nothing happened, I think that especially deserves clapping. You can't compare flying a plane with someone bringing you food in a restaurant. I really felt that comment wasn't very nice. Simplifying flying like that....
Experienced travelers just do not clap for the plane landing as it is expected to do.🙄
@lynnebattaglia-triggs1042 You think it is easy to land a plane? Of course its expected but more often then not bad things happen during the flight. Even for the most experienced pilots. So I think its a nice gesture to show towards the absolute skill required to fly a plane without crashing it
We all clapped and cheered when our flight to Spain landed safely in pouring rain having been hit twice by lightening.
I think I'd bend a knee and thank the Lord for smiling upon us as we land safely but I'd never do that to bottleneck the aisle.
That woman didn't have enough clothing on. Probably the rear exposure was enough to cause health concerns for the next person who would sit in that seat
Exactly. From what I have been told, the back half of her shorts exposed a lot. That would mean here putting her bare behind on a seat. She fails to show the back of her shorts during this ordeal and even has a top tied around her waist. So she should not have been allowed on the flight
And yes, a man with his booty hanging out should also be refused entry.
I flew many yrs ago when people dressed up to fly&meals were served-now even peanuts are banned
She was dressed slutty....just wanting attention...
@@ritageorge8748 well in the past people weren’t so clean around babies so they didn’t have much peanut allergies, but now ppl has to keep the house 100% clean when they have babies, so as a result- asthma, peanut allergy etc. 🤷♂️
The guy who hacked the PA system should’ve rickrolled the flight
YES
That would have been enjoyable
Not familiar with that term, but then again, I'm old.

5:15 In fact, there was an explanation for those strange noises. You can prolly look it up on UA-cam.
There are sound filters in the PA system, made to focus on human voice, like, when the captain wants to make PA and it's noisy (as it may be). Now, such a system could also 'hear' human voices in random noise under the right circumstances (the right type of noise, and the right setting), so the investigation turned up that as the likely culprit.
Back in 1992, some friends and I were flying from London Heathrow to Gutersloh in Germany. When the check-in lady asked one of the guys "are you carrying anything in your luggage for anyone else?" my mate replied, "no all that cocaine is my own". She had a major sense of humour failure and within minutes we were surrounded by armed police officers and a plain clothes detective. They messed us around for 30 minutes or so but after apologising profusely we were allowed to board the flight. Never again.
I think they act like that to avoid the reversed psychological phenomenon that the most people think someone is harmless when they say completely over the top things. It wouldn't wondern me if criminals tried to used these techniques.
A nut passenger on my flight refused to allow security to search her bag after being flagged by the x-ray machine at the gate and remarked "not as if a B**B is in my bag". Oh boy, it was both an exciting scene to watch and terrifying for us as everyone was rechecked and padded down again under the watchful eyes of armed personnel. Thereafter, the lady and boyfriend (understandably feeling extremely unhappy and disgraced) had a terrible argument and both were denied boarding the plane for being highly "dangerous" passengers.
newsflash your mate is truly stupid🥲

FYI, As I have been a Cabin Crew and working at the Airport now, Cabin Crew does not clean airplanes after landing. We have a special cleaning crew to clean airplanes and prepare them for take off with the new departing crew.
Cabin crew of Easyjet does clean the plane after landing.
Lazy gits
I think there should be inspectors to check recycled items, like blankets, for cleanliness before reuse. We must learn from pandemic experiences.
I forgot my golden vintage RayBans along my empty beer cans. I hope one of the cleaning crew had a happy day :*
I think it would violate FLSA anyway for flight attendants to be forced to clean without pay.
Hey its a tradition here in Puerto Rico to clap when a plane lands successfully so if there is any of us in there you will hear those claps. It is our way to say thank you to the pilot and crew so sorry if it bothers you.
Come to think of it, it is theater of a sort. I had not seen it quite that way before.
Same in Moldova! It's actually a very nice feel and energy when the whole plane does it! 😊
I was told the Germans do that too. I think it's a nice gesture.
There's actually a book called "Clap when you land" but if memory serves, it's DR not PR
Is water also a traditional drink in PR?
I was a flight attendant for many years and never clean anything but the galleys, ground personnel cleans seat areas and restrooms
22:22, one of my family members once had a pocket knife with him, and when the security asked if he was going to hurt anyone he joked about it, saying that he was going to hurt someone jokingly (he got held back for half an hour)
The water tanks are cleaned regularly, and all the water used on a plane is filtered. My aunt was a flight attendant for 37 years. The major airlines keep up with that stuff. Idk about all the smaller and independent airlines. Also, clapping when a plane lands is like a thank you to the pilots for landing safely! It’s mostly a relief clap. The most dangerous parts of flying are take off and landing. So clapping is like, “thank god we landed safely!”
As a Flight Attendant/on board Loadmaster, I have normally only seen clapping when it was a rough flight, rough approach, emergency landing, or an extremely smooth landing. As you mentioned it was for a thank you or well done.
But pilots do not like it.
It's their jib to take off and land aircraft safely.

A recommendable life hack is to bring a few disinfecting wet wipes onto the plane (remember the 100 ml liquid limit). Your seat area will not have been cleaned for weeks, and you can give your tray table and armrests a wipe. The passengers next to you will also appreciate a good idea and ask you for a wet wipe.
True, I once traveled via Greyhound and had wet wipes and hand sanitizer, several people asked to have some lol.
Tray tables were summarily wiped down by overworked senior citizens workers on graveyard shifts with a piece of barely damp dirty rag.
Wipes don't count as liquids.
The tray table, apparently, has the most germs on it, more than a toilet seat.
I always bring individual packages of wipes & pass them out to anybody near me. I like the window seat & use up several of them.

When strange noises came through the PA system on that flight, it is not from someone who hacked into it, it is because of a malfunction, electrical short, or something of that sort. The Mentour Now UA-cam channel did a great video all about it.

I’m a truck driver, I sit for about 8 hours straight unless I have to get fuel and food or if I’m lucky both at the same time depending upon the time of day before I finish my remaining 11 hours of driving constantly sitting. Yes I may be moving my head around and taking bumps on the road the size of speed bumps or worse because no one takes care of these roads but I like to debunk your 4 hour theory about sitting for that long causes those issues. Truck drivers even used to sit for hours upon hours back in the day before electronic logs became a thing, unless they stop for fuel and food, hell you get both at the same time and if you have the energy for it which a lot of drivers did, they’d drive a good 14+ hours straight just sitting but never had those health problems. I know they haven’t because I know many veteran drivers that are healthy and done it. So I debunk your theory on that 4 hour sitting issue. I agree that if your able to you should get up and let the blood flow but you’d have to be sitting for probably 24+ hours before having issues like that unless you sat down in a terrible position that’s already causing the pins and needles. For the first time I'll make not one, but two comments on this channel. 1.) Clapping when a plane lands is simply a kind gesture/expression of gratitude. While we are able to tell a bus or taxi driver thank you, it's not that easy with pilots. So, feel free to take all my complimentary snacks, I will always choose to show gratitude. (Why not do a research to see how many pilots don't usually appreciate it.) 2.) Dress code- you're in a tight, restricted space with other people, be kind on the eyes of others...and nose, too, for that fact. I mean, who knows which pervert, or lunatic you might sit next to!

You do not dress in skimpy cloths on any form of public transport, because one they are not deep cleaned and two in case of an emergency you don't want to be exposed. I wear long pants and usually bring a sweater or sweatshirt with me on planes and wear comfortable closed toe shoes. Also I wear compression socks on flights and if I ever take a long flight I will probably be on a blood thinner. 9:34 This is a myth. Water stored onboard for tea/coffee etc is checked regularly by law and is frequently emptied and refilled. Water for waste disposal is kept separate from potable water.
12:52 Fresh air is always circulated onboard via the by-pass system of the engines called 'bleed air' that supply the aircon packs. As such, fresh air is continually supplied to both the passengers and heated cargo areas. The air is probably better than being is some restaurants/hotels/venues/shopping malls/cinemas. Modern aircraft also keep the humidity high to combat the dry air.
20:30 No, the reason is due to the possibility of CAT, clear air turbulence, that cannot be picked up by the weather radar. Pilots are more likely to reduce airspeed via throttles rather than the 'speed-brakes'. less wear and tear on the engines.
23:29 Most airliners use a 'plug' type door . You can't open any of those doors soon after takeoff and landing as the air-pressure outside hold the door firmly in place. You could have 20 people all trying to open a door and it will never work except due to mechanical faults like latches/pin failures. The more you learn the less you fear.
A&P mechanic, here, to expand a bit on this:
I've serviced those water tanks. They are drained and sanitized regularly, and the potable water lines purged. They are cleaner than your city's water mains.
I've worked on the air systems. Fresh air comes in from the engines (before the combustion stage!) and fed into the environmental systems. It isn't recirculated. Pressure in the cabin is regulated by the rate that the "used" air gets dumped overboard. Given the extreme pressures and temperatures involved in the process, the incoming air is just about guaranteed to be completely sterile.
The door-plug portion of your comment is quite humorous now that we know that "Boeing!" is the sound a door plug makes when it pops off at 16,000 feet.
As a pilot I can tell you straight up that phone signals do NOT interfere with aircraft instruments, navigation systems, or communication systems
The radio frequencies used for communication and navigation are so different to the signals used by mobile phones that the laws of physics prevent them from interfering, OLD phones that ran on the old 2G network could cause some buzzing in the pilots headset, but modern phones don't do that as they run at different frequencies, and use different encoding methods (that's why you used to hear that buzzing pattern on your car radio a couple of seconds before your Nokia 3310 would start ringing, but you don't hear that on your new Samsung S23 or iPhone 14)
That plane did not lose its instruments because of a phone, there's so much EMF shielding in the computers and wiring in an aircraft that you would need an EMP generator to cause any noticable interference
Not only that, but don't you think that the hundreds of phones in the aircraft during boarding would cause issues before everyone turns them off?
If 500+ devices with a 4G transmitter don't cause problems, then a few phones held up to the window to try and get signal are not going to do jack shit
I've even brought 4G dongles on planes and blu-tacked it to the window so I could get internet access instead of paying the extortionate prices for inflight WiFi
Not only that, but inflight WiFi would be far more likely to cause issues as 2.4ghz is the same frequency that a microwave oven uses to cook food (and fry electronics)
So if 500+ WiFi devices all transmitting at the same time doesn't cause problems, then mobile phones sure as hell won't
😬😳🫠 too long
Mythbusters tested that, BTW.
The airlines used to demand _all_ radio be disabled, before they started selling their own WiFi.
They most certainly annoy the hell out of people in early seats having to listen to the guy’s conversation, beeping, etc.

In 1980, my mum and I were on a flight that couldn’t land due to heavy fog. It took over an hour to get clearance at a different airport. The pilot told us we were gliding around in circles for awhile.

7:29 Actually, people who do this usually refer to them as "Confort Pets" and claim that if they do not fly along with them get panic or anxiety attacks.
They are emotional support animals and can only be on fights if airlines allow animals to fly in cabin. They have to be crated and you have to pay extra. Different rules for service animal.
2:00 it is advised that people wear long pants, generally made out of cotton for safety reasons, **jeans...ect**, in the event of a fire in the cabin, polyester and other synthetics melt to the skin and can cause extreme scarring and extensive burns even if you are not close to the fire, the woman complaining about the shorts was wearing, **what they call spoil shorts, what i know as short daisy dukes**, without some protection her burns could be severe, think a hotdog on a stick over a camp fire, that is why they threw her off the plane, but, yes, if she wasn't careful she would have more than likely ben flashing her kitty all over the plane, she was proud of her body with good reason, but social norms still apply, no need to go around looking like a street walker.

SAFETY, comfortability in clothing and PREVENTION seem to have left the room.Thank you SO MUCH for a great narration of an informative video ! For punishment for her ignorance of how to live in the real world, perhaps Deniz Saypinar should be forced to watch a few airline crashes in which those survivors who were not wearing "decent foot coverings," died in the fire ? Since she loves action, perhaps she could be granted a pretty bikini in which she could impress the viewers of a great car race-Such as Irwindale Raceways----and hope her car doesn't catch on fire ? My friend who was a race car driver, and I, tried to invent a FIRE RETARDENT FLYING SUIT for conservative airplane passengers who were more concerned about safety, than style, but, of course FADS & STYLE always predominate the scene; so our idea never got off the ground! so true!
As a short "the more you know" ground handling staff (a.k.a. ther cleaners) are the ones who clean the aircraft after landing, not the cabin crew.
Was just about to say exactly same thing. Thanks!
Umm.. No. In a good number of the no-frills airlines it is the cabin crew that clean the aircraft on the turnround. It's part of their job.
Yeeap
Some airlines require stews to clean the plane when the turn-around time is short.
This always keeps me entertained thank you I love this channel
The pressure difference part was kind of correct but not entirely, the cabin pressure is only ever set to 6-8 thousand feet and is eased throughout the flight, secondly you don't have to yawn or swallow on the way back down as your body does it automatically.

For years I wore contacts when I flew for business, without any problems. The big difference between then and now - my contacts were hard contacts. They didn’t change shape.

There used to be blankets for us, but the US has gotten too poor now for that. (You know, the billionaires must have it all.)

when that PA beep hit around 4:00 i was sent right back to the cramped seats, bad movies, sprite, and oxygen masks (i have a medical condition so I need suplemental oxygen in flight)
The "airplane" mode on devices during liftoff is BS. if planes were so sensitive to such signals, they wouldn't be able to land anywhere near new york... or any other big city.
The real reason is so EVERYONE listen and watch during the emergency procedure explanation. it serves 2 purposes :
1) if someone does not do it, some other people might see and decide to do the same, maybe thinking too much about "not being caught right now" instead of listening, or just keep watching their lolcats on the interwebz. The "No exception" is there for that reason.
2) By asking them (passengers) to do something, you actively make them part of the "flight prep" and they become more receptive. "Involvement". Kinda like when you ask a woman to "hold the door", you're either get cut after the 1st word with a sharp "I have a boyfriend !!!", unless she sees you with a huge box and realize the normal thing to do is to hold the door to let you in, as any civilized person would do. Before they start getting used to bad habits and develop a shitty behavior, you immediately try to CUT the possibility of them going the "bad" way, and offer some incentive (here, the "I belong"/"I'm a good passenger" dopamine) for them to go on the good way. It's win-win for everyone, it detects Karens before its too late to force them out of the plane, people are more attentive during safety/emergency procedure speech, and it could, POSSIBLY, make less radio-disturbances that tend to upset the magic invisible air elves that allow us to fly in giant hunks of metal...
Every company has the right to establish their own levels of acceptability. Male or female….Dress respectfully…. and if you don’t understand what that looks like, there is a finishing school calling your name.

Never sleep at the beginning or end of a flight because that's when most plane accidents happen. And they actually do have a rule in place that let's them open the outside doors if there is a lot of smoke in the passenger areas. Though I think they have to do that at low altitude
In Colombia we clap for the pilots for flying and help us get to the destination
Annoying. Do you clap for bus drivers?
It must be more challenging to navigate around the hilly terrain and land at high elevations. I'd clap too.
For them doing their job? It isn’t a stage performance. I’m sure a “thank you “ is enough.
I'm not that sure the cell phone is that likely to interfere with electronics on the plane.
BUT,
1) The phone will run the battery down like crazy searching for a signal.
2) It won't connect anyway, or if it briefly does it won't work well at all.
3) The phone is within site of hundreds, perhaps 1000s of cell sites, if it does transmit it's also causing interference to all those sites, at least raising the noise floor.

The PA system --
I will note, the actual plane sensors and flight controls (for fly by wire planes) are STRICTLY isolated from everything else, so please don't worry that someone is going to hack or interfere with that stuff like they did the PA.
Pure speculation, but these newer flights will have on-plane wifi, the PA may just be hooked into that (or it's still on ethernet, but the PA and the in-plane wifi access point(s) are on the same ethernet.) Either way, at that point they'd be able to just connect to the in-flight wifi, and probably found "Oh, here's an audio device on the network", send audio to whatever IP address and port and it came out the PA system. Pretty childish to keep doing it. Of course there's the possibility that someone used the outside internet connection to connect in to someone's device on the plane and they were dicking with it remotely. You'd hope someone on the plane would have eventually gotten embarrased and stopped, but if it was literally an internet troll, well they know no bounds.
And remember above all; if you meet someone named Jack at an airport or midflight, be careful how you greet him.
😁
Hi jack!!! Did you help your uncle jack off the elephant?

Speaking as a former F/A these are real facts so listen up. My favorite announcement I would have to make nearly every flight to those passengers that would stand while the plane was taxing to get their carry on bags out of the overheads. Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to …….As a reminder please remain seated until the Cpt has turned off the fasten seat belt sign. For those passengers that are indeed standing you do in fact have the best view of the seatbelt sign, we wouldn’t want you to arrive at the gate before we do should the plane stop suddenly. The only fact which wasn’t completely true was not being able to open the door during flight. Until the aircraft climbs to a high enough altitude the doors can be opened. I don’t remember the approximate altitude but I would guess somewhere around 15,000ft. At that point the pressure is greater than on the inside and with plug type doors it would be impossible to open. The same thing happens on descent. I know this to be a fact because the door I was sitting next to did indeed open partially on descent once we were below 15,000ft. It was a DC-10. The same cannot be said about the windows on Boeing planes apparently.
"As a reminder please remain seated until the Cpt has turned off the fasten seat belt sign. For those passengers that are indeed standing you do in fact have the best view of the seatbelt sign, we wouldn’t want you to arrive at the gate before we do should the plane stop suddenly." PRICELESS!!!
“Your not allowed to get drunk on a plane”. *planes literally selling alcohol*
Yes and that's even more hypocritical than you'd think bcos alcohol is known to increase the risk of blood clots 😡
Doesn't mean anyone should get drunk!
Yes are you dumb!
The wording should have been "Airlines have rules against drunkenness in case they decide to enforce them"
Yes, people get drunk on airplanes! As long as their card goes through, they will be served. I was on a two-leg flight and two guys across from me were getting Smashed. They were also obnoxiously coming on to an attractive young lady in front of them. Lucky for her, she got off at the stopover. The two drunk dudes slept through the 2nd leg of the flight and were quite unhappy to be awakened upon arrival at destination.
But then almost anybody who has traveled will have such stories.

The last flight I took, the airplane had wifi for passengers. Airplane mode is normally only for taking off and landing.
With airplane mode you can still activate both wifi and bluetooth. The latter e.g. to use wireless earpods etc. But DO keep airplane mode throughout the flight. It is not really particularly going to cause inflight interference. The main reason is that it is causing mayhem with ground mobile phone system antennas when 200+ traveller phones move too fast in the sky and try to ping the next mast every couple of minutes.
