    How many passes did it take to cut through the 3mm wood at 100%?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  8 місяців тому +1

      3mm is pretty simple with just one pass.

    When using the camera you need to to an alignment test for each thickness of wood and save them… 1/8-1/4 etc.

      You are correct. I should have done that as well.

      Correct! I made profiles for each thickness of material I commonly use. I routinely get placement accuracy in the 1mm range using only the camera.

    Have you used the Xtool stuff? Just wondering how they compare if you have and which you like better. Im looking to get into something like this soon so Im trying to buy right the first time. So far I think I like this better because it looks like it does the same stuff that the Xtool does, but for a better price.
    Does the laser come with software to download? if not, where do you get the software program to run the laser?

      If you look through my channel you will find almost every xTool machine they made. Feel free to check them out. I would highly recommend Lightburn as the software of choice. It's a paid program but it's reasonable and very worth it.

    I don't think it's a LaserMATIC "10" Mk2, it's just LaserMATIC Mk2. The "LaserMATIC 10 "is the 10 watt version. The "LaserMATIC Mk2" is the 20 watt version.

      You are correct. After all of the stuff I was paying close attention to I overlooked one of the most obvious things. I fixed it where I can and thanks for the correction. MK2 really just stands for Mark II or the second version of the machine. I have a Buster Beagle 3D MK2 Injection molding machine as well. The MK2 on this machine still applies to the 10, 20, and 30W versions.

    Will this cut through metal or soft steel? Or engrave metal like silverware or blades on knives. Great video

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  Місяць тому

      If you really want to engrave or cut into metal you are going to want a fiber laser. While some diode lasers can engrave and somewhat cut into very thin metal it's really not the right tool for the job.

    That's pretty nice, I had to fully assemble mine. Nice to see they are coming assembled. The build quality is excellent

    Have to say it is a finely crafted machines. Don’t think it is the best laser of 2023, that goes to the xTool S1. Given the real nice build quality, it should have an autofocus Z. Seems that there is a select group of people on UA-cam that have reviewed it, and all say the same things. Just makes me wonder why other channels haven’t reviewed it.

    I hope Leo at some point decides to come up with a IR laser option similar to XTools S1 to add to the machines. I’d really like to be able to engrave on metal and this machine seems to be the one to start with.

    Enclosed lasers are just way too pricey for me, so I'm thinking of getting a separate high-power laser along with a protective enclosure. The ACMER P2 is super affordable, and I'm seriously considering it. By the way, do you have any plans to review it?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  5 місяців тому

      I don't have any current plans to review that machine. I'm honestly trying to focus on machines that either come enclosed or have a good way to enclose them as I see if as a crucial component of these machines after working with them for years now.

    The second half of my new Roly Mk2 in 10/30W is on the way. They shipped two of the same box of components but it may have been rectified. Great video that makes me much more comfortable with my buying decision.

    If you need super accuracy, you can use the camera for rough placement and then frame if needed.

    I’m trying to decide between this and the XTool s1 20w. I know you get more for the price with the MK but not sure if it would be a better buy or not..

      Unless 3D engraving, conveyor engraving/cutting, and good wifi is important to you, I would go with the Roly.

      It's been quite a while since I have messed with that machine. I would suggest checking out to see if there is a Facebook group associated with it that might give you a group that gives you more troubleshooting help.

    How do you put the camera to line up the image

  • @mattalonso6575

    Thanks for the great video! What is the max depth it could cut for wood and for metal? Thanks!

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  8 місяців тому

      It would depend on the laser power you have. Thing is that most lasers can cut through thicker woods but it's all dependent on the type of wood, whether its plywood or solid, hard or soft wood. It all comes down to the number of passes that you need. Obviously the higher the power the less the passes. My guess would be around 18-20mm for the 20W laser but honestly you might be able to go deeper. Metal is another story. While you probably could cut around 0.1mm of metal it wouldn't be very clean and would probably warp it pretty good because of the heat.

    How well does this unit cut colored acrylic? If it does well, I'll buy one right now. Thanks.

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  9 місяців тому

      I haven’t tested this one specifically with acrylic but as long as it’s not transparent or specific colors it should work. I think it usually would have issues with blue I think but again I haven’t tested it.

    How's the customer service if something is wrong with the machine?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  8 місяців тому +1

      It's a small company and I have personally talked to the owner a few times. They even have a system where you can set up an appointment to receive assistance with the machine so I would say customer service is better then most I have seen.

    Is this dual ( Diode + Ir ) Laser all in one ?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  8 місяців тому

      Hello. This particular machine is only a diode laser machine, not an infrared laser. The switch is to choose between different laser powers only.

    Would you consider this machine over the Xtool S1, I'm getting one of them

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  9 місяців тому +1

      They both have their strengths and it’s really up to your needs. The S1 has the 3D engraving and possible conveyor for longer jobs. If none of that matters to you I would go with this Roly. It’s super accurate, easy to use and a great build.

      Roly is supposed to be coming out with a 40 watt with a bigger work area, I might just wait for that, thanks

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  9 місяців тому

      @@djs7515 I haven't heard of the larger work area but I do remember the talk of a 40W laser module a while back. This one does come in a 30W and I don't see mention of the 40W on the website anymore but I suppose it's possible.
