I love it. This one definitely falls into my “Willem shot this camera so that we don’t have to.” The first one was him making portraits with an 8” x 10” Polaroid plate film view camera. So fun. ✌️
It'd be really fun to see modern camera's having names like this instead of dry model number product codes. Sony Sunflower. Fuji Fig Roll. "what you shooting with there?" "Oh this? Canon Cucumber, mate"
I definitely wish there was more playfulness in the camera industry. Give me fun names, cool colours, interesting designs! Aside from some silver Fuji bodies, the Nikon ZFC, and super cheap DSLRs (Rebel SL2,) is there any currently produced camera that's not black?
Anytime when someone like Willem puts out a video about a camera, the price is going to launch upwards no matter how good it is or in this case not so good. It’s good though that he even says “Don’t go out and buy this camera”…. Its fun to use, made good content for a video and that it’s called Tomato!
Gotta say this camera is not a bad camera compared to some of the expensive point and shoots out there. You also did not mention anything about the close focus option on the camera that is a bit different from other fixed focus point and shoots. I personally have one and the images I have gotten have been pretty comparable if not better than some of the other Olympus point and shoots I have used.
Seems that some undisclosed Japanese camera company made many iterations of this basic boxy angular designed camera, all in bright fun colors! It appears to be from the 1980’s, and many names were used on the various quirky uniquely optioned units. I have a bright green one thats labeled as an Edixa ( the west german Wirgin camera company that was by then 10 years out of business). The unusual feature of mine, is that is is called the Edixa DUAL because it shoots both full and half frame photos! On the lens cover it says 72 EXP. A lot of internet searching revealed that it was probably made by W. Haking Enterprise Ltd, of Hong Kong. Similar models seem to be the Halina 160, & 260, and the Hanimex 35 es. So now we have the Konica Tomatoe!! Thanks
The surge in prices for analog cameras is driving up prices of junkers which in the past went for $5 in thrift stores and now cost north of $50 to $100.
Awesome video Will! Quick question, what camera is used to film you on your adventures? It looks so good and cinematic, almost like you are using a RED!
I have one of these in pristine condition, however the flash doesn't work. But it's a nice camera to carry around, although I find myself grabbing a mju nowadays instead of this.
Love it, Long ago I went to Japantown here in San Francisco, as I bought a camera there but it was similar to the Tomato, as it was the called the Luminox Classic 35 as the lens cover opens like a drawbridge, and then you manually pulled the lens out, and lock, as the lens saids: Lens made in Japan, with 2 apertures -Sun Fl16 Cloudy Bright, Well I knew that it was made in China, but it did had a CDS cell, and a built in Flash, as I use it with 400 speed film, and the lens is sharp I was please, and takes 2 AAA Batteries for the flash - Thumb wind, and sharp shots as when I was using it that it reminded me of your Tomato from Konica... Good Video Bravo. Not bad for $30.00 Toy Camera....
I want to start shooting film and want to get basically a very cheap camera for my first one (so I can see if I actually like it.) Would you recommend this over one of the cheaper new options like the Kodak M38? or would you say the photo quality is similar
im not a professional but the image quality looks incredible. are the pictures straight out the box or do you think he worked on them on lightroom afterwards?
I believe it was called the Tomato because Konica was experimenting with scratch-and-sniff-style patches with their camera technology. You should be able to rub on the red parts of the camera and get a lovely odor of tomato soup that stays on your hands for a good few weeks! I hear it tastes like the nintendo switch cartridges though, so keep it away from your mouth.
I got one last year too. basically a special version of the Konica Pop-10. But the complaint is real as it really does feel like a disposable camera, just with a databack.. there is no depth of field on it even when you know the aperture can open to f4/f5.6 But still very cute tho
@@LasstUnsSpielen im never said DOF makes my photo good. what Im saying is I expect to blur out some foreground at f4 or f5.6. But that did not happen with my Konica Tomato
It's hard to believe you're almost at a third of a MILLION subscribers.... and here I thought I'd found a secret place with a fun guy that takes cool pictures to share. Who was the blabbermouth??????!!!!
Hi I'm new to film photography (I inherited a lot of film photography equipment) and haven't even had a roll developed yet. Do you edit your pics that we see in this video or is that exactly how they come out? Just so i know what to expect. Thank you so much loveeee your content.
I wish I had the balls to just walk into someone's yard and start snapping photos. Back when I was a delivery driver, after I'd just dropped off an order, I saw a cat sitting on the roof of my customer's neighbors house so I pulled out my phone and took a few photos. Then this girl came out and started screaming at me for being a creep. I tried to explain I just saw a cat in a weird spot. I showed her the photos. She didn't care. She was seething. So I just got in my car and left.

Thanks for the good laugh, bro! Canon Cucumber 😂
I have a Nikon Tsundere, it can be difficult to work with, but it takes great shots.
hey oatmeal boi just been wondering if you'd ever post more of your automotive interest sometime
Maybe one day 🥰

this camera was already at like 100 dollars on ebay, so it 's just gonna get crazier haha
can you please do a video on which photographers inspire you!! Ty and I love your videos
Willem just trying to ketchup, the Tomato been big deal for decades.
That's a saucy little comment...🍅 😎

The production of your videos is top tier
Welcome to 2021, when a plastic pointshoot, is just as expensive as a half decent slr lol
Do you want a Nikon FE + a prime, or a Stylus Epic? Lol (to each their own I guess, but I love a good slr)
The surge in prices for analog cameras is driving up prices of junkers which in the past went for $5 in thrift stores and now cost north of $50 to $100.
Would you consider the konica tomato a junker?
I'm still waiting for that "this video is sponsored by Carhartt" lol
Pants from Carhartt WIP?
Yes

This video is an excellent example of "The photographer is more important than the camera."
Great video, been shooting more 35mm lately, and you are the one who inspired me to do more with 35mm
Keep up the great work

Film Camera enthusiasts:"Look he's playing our song!'
I used to own one back in the '80s. In the UK it was known as the "POP 10". I wish I still had it. They are rare now! Very sharp lens as I remember.
awesome, that's been my first camera some 30 years ago 😍! still love the style 😁

Awesome Photos!! saw you from Moment channel 💯💯😁😁👍🏻👍🏻☺️😌
for real man I got inspired by you
Really loving the two tone Carhartt pants
Konica made some amazing 35mm point and shoots. Love my big mini 301
what are your thoughts on the big mini F vs big mini 301 ?
My favorite photo is the old vehicle in the fenced enclosure just as the film ran out.
film cameras brings nostalgia to the scenes
I like the mailbox zine idea!
ahhh everything about this video is sooo nice!!
idk why I crack up every time you say Tomato
Beautifully shot video, such a pleasure to watch as always
the lens is so good on this badboyh
ProClub boys are UP
Astonishingly sharp!
Those shots are 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
You should do a vid where you just “fire from the hip” on an entire roll. Don’t look through the viewfinder, just use your eyes and show the results 😎
5:47 looks amazing love the colour tones
Hmm...what a puzzle, tomato? 🤔 What is a tomato? Are they red an' shiney? Jeez-Louise Batman!
love the bag !!
Really cool video, enjoyed watching this one. Keep up the good work!
Yeah not gonna lie that tomato camera looks sick. gotta cop
Missed opportunity to design a camera called Potato
The tomato also has a flash. Never thought I'd ever hear those words
Could you maybe make a video where you use a really cheap 35mm camera. Like a canon, nikon or minolta from the 70s or 80s
Whats up Willem! I have this Fujifilm rensha cardia buy n-16 that I would love for you to test out. I'm based in Los Angeles too, cheers!

one day I'll get you to review a minolta afz. $50 with a minolta 35mm f2.8!
Great video, would be dope to get your opinion on ilfords retro colour disposable!
At this point I feel Willem could make photos with a potato 🥔 and they would still be flipping awesome!
That Lancia Delta Integrale though. ❤️
Nice Bag, wish i could get one but moment pushed my order back 4 times.
I have a Konica pop-10 and it’s been dope
can't wait to get my hands on a tomato !
PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON HOW TO COLOR GRADE YOUR VIDEOS!!!! PLEASEEEEEE
Almost as weird as the Konica Pop
It’s a special edition of the Konica Pop10. They’re functionally the same camera.
'you shouldn't buy this camera, if you're looking for a camera, to take good pictures with...' - proceeds to show us bangers after bangers anyways...

Half of the photos you would delete from your camera roll if they would be shot with your phone. Film is a cheap way to spruce up your shots.
