- ACE Inhibitor Side Effects | Ramipril, Enalapril, Captopril, Perindopril | Causes and Why They Occur
ACE inhibitors (angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors) are medications that are used for high blood pressure (hypertension), kidney disease, diabetes and heart disease patients. Some examples of ACE inhibitors (-pril medications) are ramipril, enalapril, captopril, and perindopril. ACE inhibitors act to lower blood pressure by inhibiting angiotensin converting enzyme, which is an enzyme that converts angiotensin I into angiotensin II. Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor, but it does have a variety of other affects as well. In this lesson, we discuss the side effects of ACE inhibitor use, including minor and mild side effects and very serious, life-threatening side effects.

Two weeks ago my blood pressure was 212/128 and I was taking extra blood pressure medicines. I changed my diet completely and this morning my blood pressure is 108/67 and I am completely off of blood pressure medicines. I can teach anybody to do the same. Stop eating all foods that convert to sugar and increase your intake of avocados, walnuts, hemp seed, and a high polyphenol count olive oil, eat lots of fish that is high in omega 3 oils, and green leafy vegetables. Also, take a high-fiber supplement that is pure like psyllium hulls. Do not take Metamucil as it does contain psyllium hulls, however, it also contains other ingredients that are really bad for your intake. The first week you will feel bloated from the high-fiber diet, however, that will pass and the high fiber will lower your cholesterol. Another benefit you will receive is your arthritis (which is only inflammation) will go away. High blood pressure can be completely controlled by diet. I hope this helps and good luck to you.

Oh stop it
Most honest video ever!!! I experienced all the side effects but my doctor kept saying ARBS same as Ace inhibitors. None of my high blood medication didn't give me problems. They're worse the disease I swear. Thank you for sharing the great video 🙏
I wish I would have known this a year ago! Had problems with swollen tongue and lips several times and was not diagnosed until I had my throat swell up after tonsillectomy. It was the emergency room Dr who figured it out. Was on a ventilator for three days.
Fantastic info. Clear and concise. Thank you soooooooooooooo much! Best to you for making a difference for many of us. Know you are appreciated.
Very informative, thank you!
I have been taking Lisinopril for awhile now (low dosage-10mg). It seems to do the trick. I have also been dealing with a small but persistent cough. I had no idea what it was from but just chalked it up to my body still getting used to me not smoking anymore. This helped me realize that it may not just be that. Also, periodically I will get hives, usually on my lower legs. This seems to be more due to dryer weather but now I know that there may be another cause. Thank you for the information! I know my meds may not be the cause of these but knowing that it is a possibility keeps me from overthinking them when they occur. Thanks again!
This is very useful information, indeed. But have you all seen the video entitled " Safest BLOOD PRESSURE Medications in 2022" by Dr. Ken D Berry? That allowed me to get the full picture on the different blood pressure medications families.
Oh Snap! I began taking Ramipril a couple of months ago and for about the last 6 weeks I've had an annoying dry cough I couldn't shift. It's made worse because as a child, many moons ago, I has asthma. Now my asthma has returned as well. And now I know why. Thank you.
me too, I started having persistent dry cough since I started taking Ramipril, thanks
Are you still taking Ramipril???? And how is your BP now?
@@yeoj1925 are you still taking Ramipril ??
@@MohimanReang-hz4zv not anymore 4 months ago and cough is gone
@@yeoj1925 what about your Blood pressure??
Thank you team ♡♡
@JJ MEDICINE I had a swollen tongue, loss of dexterity, muscle weakness/pain, lethargic sensory, in fact most of the above. The Ace I am taking are called Coversyl.
Many thanks! I have some of these symptoms. now I know why! Going to try some lifestyle changes and wean myself of this poison.
Thank you
i am quitting it..(Coversyl) cut back for 3 days then none. Doctor says I might die. I tell him, 'That's the only guarantee life has" "And you could even beat me to it. "
When I was in the hospital after breaking my hip my heart rhythm and b.p. became very erratic. I am on metoprolol along with lisinopril. It was not brought up to me that my medications might have contributed to this problem. My blood glucose also shot up to 475! Trauma seemed to be the cause. Anything that touches on my vagus nerve seems to precipitate all sorts of weird effects.
Thank you I’m going to Totally Quiet this medication
How's that going?
I had angeodemia that put me in ICU for 3 1/2. Weeks. Was intubated then a trach because my tongue swelled so had and was closing off my airway. So be careful using Lisinopril!
had hair loss on lisinopril so im on losartan. the lost hair grew back when i switched to an ARB

Thanks!
My lip was so swollen ambulance took me to hospital..I've been taking lismoprill for 15 years this came on suddenly
Why did you take lismoprill??? Is it for BP or CKD?
This explains a few things. I've been dealing with burning mouth syndrome and wonder if this is why.
I’ve been having the same issues and having symptoms of burning mouth syndrome and I’m taking lisinopril also
Thank you for the video! Now I know why I have low white blood cells and I'm losing my hair. :-(
👍👍
All of this and no mention of the synthetic snake venom in these drugs. That's the problem here.
Im already balled
Can chemicals build up as my friend has much worsened bision especially since given ramipril, also seen sources of GTN spray damaging eyes.
Hospital blame T2D and BP not even, looked at meds and now say probably blind within 5 years, there was retinopathy and leaks plus cararacts. But recent months is very hard to see in more situations. Its in UK so very bad health service
Every medicine was explain except for linsopril?
It ends in “pril” they are all very similar.
👍👍🙏
Low count of white blood cells might be hard to spot as they vary with rates of infection.
I noticed a little change in my hearing is it a side effect of pirindopril?
was It loud and clear to music?
What heart medicine is causing me breathlessness? Anyone?
Which one or group of medicine good and safe for slowing heart rate and to lower blood pressure also? Alternative and safer then Metoprolol ER
Let me know if you find any, they are all basically poison. Maybe one is less poisonous?
@@lisaayers1975 Thanks
Instead of Metoprolol, I take Taurine. It is an amino acid found in shellfish, and supports heart function. 8 years now, and still mo Meto. I literally told them what to do with it, after 3 days.. No regrets and am 78.
Well I take Coversyl and I can't say I notice any really obvious side effects, in fact, the doctor just doubled my dose because my B/P was still too high for comfort.
What about just giving you a water pill, that can lower your blood pressure.
@@emilschneider7897 Very difficult for me Emil after prostate surgery and the doctor has tripled just one dose of perindopril which seems to have the desired effect.
@@johngoard8272
I’m happy it’s working for you
Did you get cough as a side effect
@@animeshmisra5387 No mate I don't think I get any side effects at all and I am on a high dose of the drug for my blood pressure.
What type of med is losartan?
That is an ARB.
Hello. How can I reverse the side effect of bradykinin after taking ACE-I for long time? thanks
Dose might be too high.
Just started taking ramipril. The only side effect I'm feeling the last week is insomnia. I'm gonna talk to my doctor tomorrow if she can give me some sleeping pills. I always fell asleep after 2am, this morning fell asleep at 5am and woke up at 8.30.
I had swollen tongue & lips swollen felt like herpes simplex, elevated potassium levels.
Dry cough
Angioedema
Allergy/skin rashes
Diarrhea
Teratogenesis
Hair loss
Reduced sense of taste
1st dose phenomenon:: Hypotension (too much dose)
Anemia (ACEI lowers EPO) uncommon.
Black people stop taking anything with pril at the end its bad news for us I know trust me
I actually take lisinopril. What was your experience with these medicines? I'm trying to wean off of these meds by exercise and diet.
@@jasonbarrett9805 definitely felt some chest pains, tightness, numb lips and limbs which sucks because I was having those symptoms before the high blood pressure as well..
Why do you say this??
@@ELBrown213 it causes angiodema the swelling of your face it can cause your throat to swell and cut off your airways it happened to me
Also happened to me several times and I didn't know what the heck was going on until the last ER visit and that doctor new exactly what was causing it! He said stop that stuff right NOW! I thought I was going to die. Couldn't breath the last time. Scared the hell out of me. Yes, I am black.
How about hair thinning?
Is there a way to test for it?
Now I have an excuse for hair loss, I might forget to mention I lost my hair long before I started taking Ramipril. 😉
Had weird taste in mouth and nausea...anyone have this? Does it go away? LISINOPRIL
I am familiar with the "taste" you mentioned and I personally associate it to the post nasal drip that comes along with taking Lisinopril. If it didn't keep my blood pressure down to Hypertension 1 Levels, I would toss it away. It's been the only effective medicine that's worked for me.
@JackFraz01010 This med didn't lower my pressure so I was prescribed a water pill and it doesn't lower my blood pressure enough. I can't win. My doc told me to never take Linisoprol ever again. Took Valsarton too ,can't take it either. I'm taking hydrochlorothiazide and it's not helping...will probably go off. Meds don't work for trying to kill me.
4:22 potassium has 1 T
I want to hear the solutions not a lifelong history of every person who ever heard of the product blah blah blah just fn say what your product is THEN go on and on
ACE seems very bad for kidney, blood, immunity system
As are Beta Blockers and most heart medications.
Liver my liver enzymes have been up and inflammation since I started lisnopril when I had preclamsia after my baby was born 10months later and it's still up and they couldn't figure out why. I believe it could be the lisnopril 🙏
@@amylouava5134 yes, these types of drugs plus prednisone affect the liver. Doctors usually fix one organ but damage another! It is a vicious cycle!
