Trivia for you - in real life, Sebastian was left handed when he started to write as a kid, but the teacher would slap his hand with a ruler until he wrote with his right hand. This was in the 80s in Romania. He spoke about it in an interview he gave with a Romanian radio station.
I've just decided that Henry Jackman is a master composer. Three minutes and three seconds into this episode may be the most beautiful, yet haunting and heart-rending rendition of the Civil War theme I've ever heard. Music is a character in and of itself.
I love the moment when Bucky smiled seeing Sam's nephews play with the shield. It was genuine moment of happiness for him. It seems like maybe he was seeing himself and Steve in those kids playing, then realized the significance of two young black boys playing with the shield and the impact and weight of a Black man to be Captain America! This realization seemed to have been on Bucky's mind until that moment he apologized! Also seeing Bucky genuinely happy for a few moments this episode was amazing! It's nice to see Bucky smile again like he did in First Avenger!
This episode and the previous episode do a great job showing why Bucky shouldn’t be Captain America. He’s been fighting his whole life, World War 2, Winter Soldiers, running from the Government and the Avengers. When he finally got his mind back, he was forced into Infinity War. The man just needs to rest and enjoy life. He especially shouldn’t become the most stressful and political superhero
@@lehcaraz1 Exactly, and that’s (also) why Steve chose Sam. He knew his bro just wanted to rest and let go of the past. He knew he just wanted to be James Barnes and nothing else

I found it very interesting, how Chris took that part about "being righthanded" as a parallel and possible metaphor for "being priveleged." Even if it ends up just being reading too deep into I still found that take to be very well spotted.
The thing with Isaiah is that he's operating under the belief that it requires others to allow Sam to be Captain America, but Sam had to allow himself to take up that mantle. Also, I was totally waiting for that shield to go straight through that house behind him as Sam was throwing it around.
And that's a fundamental truth in life. A lot of the time we wait for other people to "let us" do something but fundamental we have to allow ourselves to do it.
Sam doesn't have superhuman strength. The shield will only return the amount of energy you put into it. With a powered Falcon suit, he'll be able to throw the shield with a lot more force.
Fun Fact : - Isaiah Bradley's story about breaking out to go rescue some fellow black soldier POW's and bring them all home was actually HIS story in the comics before they decided to appropriate it for the first Captain America (First Avenger) movie and had Steve Rogers do the same. Steve Rogers never actually did that in the comics, and it was actually Isaiah's Bradley's storyline. Which is kind of fitting (and,...welll....apropos) that he was re-telling it in those whole narrative where he's talking about how they erased his past just like America has been erasing the history of black people for 500 years, that they would take the story of what a black man did, and whitewash it and instead make it the story of what the white hero did to make him even more heroic (....to a largely white audience). Not saying they did it intentionally (at least not when they wrote and made the first Captain America movie where they actually did the appropriation), especially because they probably didn't know at that time that Isaiah Bradley's storyline would ever be done in live action. But taking black people's stories and whitewashing them and re-framing them as white heroes storylines is a staple of American storytelling going back Centuries. The white hero that most Americans know as the Lone Ranger was an actual REAL life black man and living legend - a former freed slave, Civil War hero, and legendary U.S. Marshall known as Bass Reeves (people who watched The Watchmen HBO show might have been introduced to him a bit).
Wyatt's straight up ferocious war cry after Sam tears the shield from his arm shot through my whole body the first time I watched this, his acting is out of this world.
Steve was 24 when he took the serum, Bucky would've been 25 at the time. Steve was born in 1918 and Bucky in 1917 (two of the words of Bucky's sleeper code is nineteen and seventeen alluding to his date of birth). Steve went under the ice in 1945 ( 3 years after taking the serum), and he wakes up in 2012. When Bucky admits to Sam that his anger came from the fact it felt he had lost the only family he had left, that broke my heart. Steve was lonely and he had friends, Bucky has been lonely for so long. It just hurts seeing those two not together, but luckily Bucky is beginning to see a friend in Sam. Found family is my favorite trope.
@@jimjimcherie Oh sure. My pleasure. Also, I didn’t ever catch that Nineteen and Seventeen were two code words to activate the Winter Soldier. Nice catch! It’s funny, 1917 was the same year my grandfather was born and he also was a WWII Veteran.

Nothing is funnier than commentators who tell reactors, who are showing you their first-time reaction and thoughts, that they’re missing something when they probably watch a million breakdown videos, other reactors, and/or the episode a couple of times before watching the video they’ve commentated on.
as a vet myself, they did walker wrong they put him on 'bad paper' and no benefits, that's like wasting your life and he told lemar's parents that so they could have closure and as a soldier, when that happens, everybody is responsible, he is thinking like a soldier, just like he said in court.
He killed a man who literally did nothing though?? And the new Captain America killing somebody in international territory is a lot different from a normal soldier killing someone. The Cap title holds a lot of weight.
"Thinking like a soldier" is the problem. Captain America isn't supposed to think like a soldier, he's supposed to be a good man. That was explicitly stated in the first Captain America movie.
@@IceMetalPunk We understand that because we view the MCU from outside, but for an ordinary soldier who the government just offered the shield with no further briefings on how to behave with it, his intentions for doing what he did were all in the right place. WE can say stuff like he didn't deserve it and such things because we're outside the story, but for an ordinary traumatised military vet, that might not be how he views it. And its not like he watched the entire Captain America movie XD
In the end government just want to do damage control first, they do not want worse reactions from people. They incompetently gave the responsibility and incompetently took it away.
Sam gave better advice to Bucky than his therapist did. Then again, Bucky was more open to Sam about his problems. I hope we see more of Zemo somehow in the future.
What I really like about Sam's conversation with Bucky here is that he finally got over the animosity and became what he's always been to his friends: a counselor for traumatized soldiers. I think that many people overlook just how much Bucky can relate to Sam and Isaiah. He was a good man who was captured and literally enslaved for years, and when he finally got his freedom he was distrusted or outright hated by everyone. He's someone who did the best he could to do everything right, and is still barely tolerated because he was systematically victimized by those in power. Unfortunately, that describes the American experience for far too many people.
That scene with John and Lemar's family though...his mother crying and hugging John, his father crying...but his sister had that body language and look in her eyes that was more like: Dude, I don't trust you
Ok..... He has not done anything evil tho, he killed a terrorist and wants to kill and terrorist who wants to kill a lot of people, how is that evil if that happens
Unlike her parents, she’s definitely young enough to use social media a lot. And if you remember, John Walker killing that bad guy was recorded by TONS of people and probably shared online.
Great reaction guys. I also think that Sam will accept the challenge and take on the mantle as the new Captain American. However when Isaiah told Sam about how he and his teammates suffered. Also the atrocities that Black people face and that America would never accept a black man as Captain America is exceptional writing and story telling! He had me thinking that Sam will incorporate the shield with his falcon gear! What Isaiah said is so true and so very sad! It's about four story lines in this episode that are truly emotional! The fired Cap talking to Lamar's family was really sad.
People always forget that cap had one of the few integrated squads with black men and Asian men on his squad. Dude y’all watched agents of shield trips grandpa worked with Steve.
In the MCU, Steve Rogers was 25 years old when he became Captain America. The year on the screen says 1943 & his enlistment form lists his DOB as July 4, 1918. So Steve was 25, fought in WW2 for two years, then was frozen in 1945 at the age of 27, and woke up in 2012 America. Steve formed his own non-segregated military unit in WW2, a time when the military demanded segregation in all units. But Steve said he was forming the unit "of the best men for the job" so Steve never saw race. Which was why he thought it was okay to give Sam the shield, because all he saw was "Sam = good man".
I'm sorry that I don't know his name 😭 but I'm glad the guy in the plaid shirt brought up the Young Avengers, I'm so excited to see them in action, especially Wiccan and Hulkling :)
Give all the hates on John whatever you want! John is not any power-hungry psycho who would ready to kill anyone to protect his Captain America mantle, he's a war-hardened man who struggles to live up to the mantle. That was his purpose throughout the series! He's not a bad man, but not as close as a hero like Steve Rogers was! And somehow, we can't help but feel bad for him. He lost his friend, his Captain America title and the shield in a swept! This is close to the fact that every soldier fought for their country were nothing more than being expendable!!
I don't know if someone already commented this, but Isaiah's grandson is Patriot, a member of the Young Avengers. Joaquín Torres get the wings to become the new Falcon, the only difference is that in the comics he has natural wings. He was also part of the Young Avengers, but I don't think he'll be with them in the MCU. Anyway, I'm so excited to see them again in the future!
FYI Julia-Louis Dreyfus's character was supposed to have first appeared in Black Widow which was supposed to come out a full year ago, so she was supposed to be someone we recognized.

This was a great reaction video. I loved spending time with you fine people! But what moved my cursor to that Subscribe button was the insight about Bucky's line about being right-handed. Someone had asked if it was perhaps ad libbed. But after that interpretation of the meaning behind it, I have to believe that it was scripted and scripted WELL. So powerful. Another great observation that Grace Randolph had was their brilliant contrast between Isiah's line about "no self-respecting black man would want to" with the scene of Sam's nephews role playing with the shield. Sam felt trapped between those two points of view, of the abused and discarded on one side and the innocent and aspiring on the other. That slow motion shot of him walking after Bucky leaves, before his training montage... man. That's where he makes the decision. That's where he becomes Captain America. Should have had him splitting some wood to celebrate. :-D
Guys what an episode. Hail Hydra. And what a cameo. That lady, Velentina Allegra is Madam Hydra. Now, some of you might find that name familiar? In AOS S4, Aida was playing the role of Madam while she was in the Framework. So she might have find out about the real Madam when she did research on Hydra to create her simulated world.
I think the true dialogue with FauxCap is that he represents the WS in this country. This is present in him saying "they don't know what it's like being Captain America" he's wanting ppl to feel sorry for him despite him being completely removed from the chaos he's caused.
Walker looked a lot like Solid Snake when entering the courthouse, ironic because Snake was famously inspired by Snake Plissken who was played by Kurt Russell.
- Steven Rogers was 25 when he became Captain America 😉 he was born in 1918 and enlisted in the US Army in 1943 - As for how time travel works, the writers of Endgame (disagreeing with the Russo’s brothers) said that old Steve was from the same timeline as our Steve and the other Avengers, meaning that Steve was always meant to be the never-seen-husband of Peggy Carter and that both versions of Steve, the young one and the old one, were at Peggy’s funeral. The two remaining doubts are: 1. how did he live in the society without being recognized by people? 2. where does the shield he gave to Falcon come from? Maybe he asked Peggy and Howard to make another one, explaining to them everything about time travel and the future... the problem is: did Howard have any more vibranium? 🤷🏻♀️
Yo I just realised the boat is a metaphor for America - it’s kind of old and broken but instead of giving up on it together we can give it new life! It’s even painted in the red white and blue. This is the Cap we need, the guy who works to fix it... Damn these writers are good
1. Sharon is Peggy's niece. 2. Sharon has been on the run for 7 years (2 years between Civil War and Infinity War + 5 years of the Blip). 3. I'm 99% sure it was the Russo Brothers (directors of Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame and the other 1% being the writers of all those movies, Marcus & McFeely) who said in an interview that Steve's entire life with Peggy was in an alternate timeline and he returned to the "proper" MCU timeline after she died. This would mean him going to the past changed zero events and he would not appear in any pictures during the time he should be under the ice. Though, since this hasn't officially happened in universe and was instead in an interview, that could be "retconned" later. Though I do expect it to be fully explained and clarified in Loki, as you stated in the afterthoughts.

I definitely didn't assume Bucky would have the advantage, super-soldier wise. He got an unknown amount of an experimental super soldier serum that we never saw stacked up against the classic (especially when Steve had such a weak starting point, physically). Meanwhile Walker started off at the "peak" that is at least in the ballpark of where the serum put comic book Steve Rogers, before getting a serum that seems to be pretty damn good at the super-strength and toughness areas. Even if it probably doesn't measure up to the original multiple-step one Steve got and everyone's been chasing since.
the "black captain america" is finally adressed. i thought about it since steve gave sam the shield and i'm surprised no reactors talk about it from the very beginning.
I fucking LOVE the training montage with Uncle Sam. Which yes, I am absolutely going to call him now 😁 as well as Captain America ☺️ Steve had the Serum which gave him super strength, super reflexes, etc. so Using the shield quickly became second nature for him. But Sam has to work at it. He earns the HELL out of that Shield. He IS Captain America!

Trivia for you - in real life, Sebastian was left handed when he started to write as a kid, but the teacher would slap his hand with a ruler until he wrote with his right hand. This was in the 80s in Romania. He spoke about it in an interview he gave with a Romanian radio station.
I know the feeling haha!
Well "lefties are the devil's minions" after all
If this is true.... than he created the “I’m right handed” joke.
Yeah that happened to a lot of us.
Joaquin with the wings? I can already see Young Avengers. And Allegra is not the Powe Broker, she is Madam Hydra
So true. Do we really want to see Bucky subjected to the same pressures as John Walker. They both suffer from PTSD. Bucky has decades of PTSD.
@@lehcaraz1 Exactly, and that’s (also) why Steve chose Sam. He knew his bro just wanted to rest and let go of the past. He knew he just wanted to be James Barnes and nothing else
I’ve been an MCU fan for a while now, but my heart has rarely leapt at this universe like it did when Julia Louis Dreyfus sauntered in.
She is a hollywood mogul and a powerbroker in real life!
I knew your reaction was coming at 8! Love this episode! The opening fight was great, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Madame Hydra was perfect, Joaquin getting the wings like the comics, Sam potentially having new Wakanda-made wings in the box, the conversation between Sam and Isaiah, and Sam looking towards the community for help. Man this show is awesome!
“You guys wannabe partners but you know just like a joke?” Is the funniest and most relatable thing I’ve heard in awhile.
Love the Isiah Bradly scene because in the end his sacrifice allows Sam to be Captain America. Sam has to try, forget what the government feels just do it.
We gotta give credit to john walker. He was emotionally and mentally broken.. And was still kicking as in the first fight. .i know he beat/draw Vs Steve Rogers.. But we won both 1 vs 1 with Bucky and Sam. It's probably his toxic rage that is destroying him
Walker did not fight steve what are you talking about

You guys remember the scene in WandaVision where the 2 Visions, elaborate? 🤔😅😁
As a black man, when I saw Sam looking at what's in that suitcase, I got chills and goosebumps. This finally beat my excitement over Wanda Vision. Still very different shows. But with everything going on in the world. This made me tear up with tear of hopes.
Haha what does it have to do with being black?
@@Nekotaku_TV you must be watching the show without sound or video for you not to understand why OP being black correlates to his excitement for the show.

Steve was in his mid 20’s when he became Captain America. He was born in 1918.
Fun Fact : -
Isaiah Bradley's story about breaking out to go rescue some fellow black soldier POW's and bring them all home was actually HIS story in the comics before they decided to appropriate it for the first Captain America (First Avenger) movie and had Steve Rogers do the same.
U serious about that Lone Ranger fact? Im just finding out that the Lone Ranger is based off of true events
@@jasapotato8362
Yes, the Lone Ranger was based on the life and events of Bass Reeves' real life.
"You built me........ I am captain America!"

Steve didn’t go into the ice until 1945. He says that in Endgame.
@@ransomg9479 I forgot about that! Thank you
@@jimjimcherie Oh sure. My pleasure. Also, I didn’t ever catch that Nineteen and Seventeen were two code words to activate the Winter Soldier. Nice catch! It’s funny, 1917 was the same year my grandfather was born and he also was a WWII Veteran.
@@ransomg9479 I'm glad we both could learn something from e/o 💜 there's also the reference to "freight car" as Bucky fell from a train, also while homecoming was about Spiderman "Longing" "Homecoming" could go hand in hand with Bucky's desire to go home. 🥰
Oh wow! Mad respects and gratitude to your grandfather! My great grandparents fled Germany during WWI that's the most involvement my family had in any of those wars, then again, my French and German ancestors all fled to Peru during the first and second World War.
@@jimjimcherie Oh haha you’re too kind. I’m glad we could learn something from each other too. I didn’t even catch the freight car reference. You know what? I think this isn’t a coincidence. I think at this point we should be thanking the Russo Brothers since I’ll bet anything they wanted to do something with Bucky’s story when they wanted HYDRA to activate the Winter Soldier when they were writing Captain America: Civil War. That also a fascinating story about your grandparents. I know it must’ve been hard for them to leave everything behind and go to a whole new country. Props to them for having the guts to do it.
Amazing episode. John Walker vs. Bucky and Sam was dope. The Isaiah Bradley scene was heartbreaking. The first post-credit scene was awesome. What's in the box? I'm guessing it's vibranium wings, a new red wing, and a new costume. I also loved Bucky and Sam's heartfelt talk while throwing the shield back forth. Great to see Batroc the Leaper and Torres again. Next episode, I see John Walker getting the U.S. Agent moniker. Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the MCU holy marvel.
I can't imagine being the person in this video that heard Isaiah Bradley speaking his truth and said, "Fucking old people." Wow.
I can't imagine anything could be more insulting to him than "Mr. Walker."

The Isaiah's story is based on a tru story: A non treated syphilis study at Tuskegee, about experiments and stuff
THIS is that episode where people will get emotionally connected with Sam and Bucky.. Marvel is so good at character development
Walker lying to Lamar's family that the man he killed was the specific person who killed Lamar was really sad.
People always forget that cap had one of the few integrated squads with black men and Asian men on his squad. Dude y’all watched agents of shield trips grandpa worked with Steve.
They literally worked on their friend-*ship* this episode
Zemo Is that character that can be anti hero and villain different times and u still would like him
Give all the hates on John whatever you want!

When you have super human strength you are never "unarmed".
Well the Wankanda suit is vibranium so the new suit for Sam will be vibranium. Sam won't need super strength if he has a vibranium suit.
During the Falcon running montage I really wanted a old guy to step out and say "on your left"

People keep forgetting that vibranium is the LIGHTEST/Strongest metal in the mcu which is why Sam can throw it normally

Nahid’s look at the camera when they didn’t show the new suit was a straight mood. I felt the same way.

Walker looked a lot like Solid Snake when entering the courthouse, ironic because Snake was famously inspired by Snake Plissken who was played by Kurt Russell.
Can we talk about Bucky being nerfed. This dude kicked Steve Roger's butt in Winter Soldier, now he is losing to Walmart brand Captain America.
The moment the "brainwashing" part of him is gone they started nerfing bucky.
- Steven Rogers was 25 when he became Captain America 😉 he was born in 1918 and enlisted in the US Army in 1943
- As for how time travel works, the writers of Endgame (disagreeing with the Russo’s brothers) said that old Steve was from the same timeline as our Steve and the other Avengers, meaning that Steve was always meant to be the never-seen-husband of Peggy Carter and that both versions of Steve, the young one and the old one, were at Peggy’s funeral. 🤷🏻♀️
This is my favourite episode of the season so far.
John Walker’s really making his own shield, watch that shit fall apart with one throw 😂
I’m thinking we see both shields collide and the real one slices through it. That would be awesome to see.

Yo I just realised the boat is a metaphor for America - it’s kind of old and broken but instead of giving up on it together we can give it new life! It’s even painted in the red white and blue. This is the Cap we need, the guy who works to fix it... Damn these writers are good
Anyone notice how during the montage Sam was running right side of the road, leaving his left side open?
Sharon Carter is probably a secret Skrull. It's just a guess at this point. You guys just met Madame Hydra who talks to John Walker after his trial.
Love the Normies and will continue to support them but I'm not gonna lie, I was very annoyed with Suraj's "come on" comment after Bradley's monologue. You don't have to agree with what he said but lets not pretend that he's not justified in the way he feels.

The women who talked to Walker I think is madam hydra, also in the comics Isaiah’s grandson is a hero called patriot. I love how Steve and Sam reflect what America should be whilst John reflects what America is and what the government is actually like, but you still feel bad for him cause the government has turned him into what he is and he clearly reflects war veterans with ptsd and you see him struggle with both ptsd and the pressure of being cap whilst the government does fuck all to help him 😂
I definitely didn't assume Bucky would have the advantage, super-soldier wise.
