In this video, you'll discover how to come up with unique melodies by using my arp-to-melody trick. My name is Philip from Pick Yourself, and I've created this channel to help electronic music producers like you make meaningful progress with their music.
Arpeggios, often just called arps, are an overused and very boring-sounding option for lead melodies in melodic techno, house, and EDM. But don't worry, they can be a perfect starting point for something truly remarkable.
In this tutorial, I will show you a simple hack you can use to turn those dull arpeggios into endless melodies in just a few clicks. We'll dive deep into techniques that work seamlessly with popular DAWs like Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase, and Logic Pro.
At the end of the video, I will reveal how to select the perfect melody for any part of your song so your arrangement stays interesting.
So, if you're ready to break free from the monotony of generic arpeggios and create captivating melodies that define your sound, then this video is exactly what you need.

It would be cool if you showed how to process percussion and textures in hypnotic techno. And thank you very much for giving people useful knowledge 😎

Thanks so much! It must have been Ableton Live’s Drift, from what I remember. It’s an awesome synth, I’m thinking about doing a video about it as well. It’s become one of my favorites lately.

The arp is based on one chord.
Is this the prefered way to use an arp or is it also usual to make an arp shape and transpose it to other chords like playing I-IV-V, I don't know the english word in german it is called Kadenzen.

Great question! Yes it gets even more fun if you use chord progressions! If you use only one chord the result often feels more hypnotic and underground, with progressions it’s more “musical” but can also sound more mainstream.

It's disappointing that you can't properly edit notes with Push 3 like this. Just copy/paste from Maschine, damn.
