  • FREE Guide - Learn how to finish at least one great-sounding song per month: pickyourself.com/framework
In this video, you'll discover how to instantly write better chord progressions in electronic music by using 3 simple hacks. My name is Philip from Pick Yourself, and I've created this channel to help electronic music producers like you make meaningful progress with their music.
Have you ever struggled with chord progressions that sound cheesy, lifeless, and boring in their normal chord voicings? If so, you're not alone. Many electronic music producers face this challenge. So in this video, I will show you how to transform these chord progressions into interesting, unique voicings that enhance the emotion of the song.
Whether you're producing Techno, House, or EDM, these techniques will take your chord progressions to the next level. We'll explore how to apply these hacks using Ableton Live but the same principles apply to any other DAW.
By the end of this video, you'll have the tools and knowledge to create captivating chord progressions that stand out in electronic music productions.

I think the sound design is the most important part to begin with. The fact you can find so many different ways to learn about chord progressions, voicings, inversions etc online or in books, but without knowing how to completely change the sound of a standard instrument into something that sounds completely different is the hardest part of the process.

I've only just discovered your channel. I've been learning for years now without any outside feedback and struggled with a lot of techniques I've picked up from various different channels. It's nice to see stuff I've tried before in a digestible, to the point format, so I can at least figure out *what* I'm doing. Very similar to Underdog's channel. So far you two are the goat to me

That means a lot to me. Oscar from Underdog is a great guy and has a fantastic channel so I feel honored to be in the same bucket.

6:10 Philip I have been watching all your videos for a few weeks now, certainly mixes are sounding better especially with 12db trick becasue I could never work out what is the best level to start with, could I ask that you do few videos, one for your appraoch on creating a melody, I know you done Arp one which was nice but actual melodies, the other is buidling your transitions and filling up space, look forward to any of them and keep up the great work. 👌
The reason I have asked you, is because I trust your advice and its helped greatly so far

I've only recently started and I gotta say, the feeling of watching a video and realising you've already been doing something a professional suggests you do is atleast somwhat above neutral.

Excellent, practical introduction to chords and having them simply work well "in the field". A beginning songwriter will struggle to understand voicing, density, tying the root note of the scale together throughout, etc., without a simple music theory example like this.
