- What's happening good people, so I'm a bit late to this party, but here are my thoughts on the Steeldive SD1970, a watch that is supposed to be the best bang for the buck from AliExpress, but is it?

Steeldive SD1970 Review - Still The Best Value From AliExpress?
Hey guys, bit late to the 1970 party but I just had to get one as you guys were saying it was great, so here it what I think of it. Thanks guys and have a good one.

I’m impressed it looks pretty good love the weight too, I just dig heavier watches. Bracelet fit at the lugs is good enough. Great value too. Colour is good and some great value adds in the crystal and bezel.

Nice review mate! I have the black version and it's just just fantastic value for the money. I agree about the rehaut on the green version, it doesn't really match the rest of the watch tonally and it looks a bit cheap and plasticky. By the way I feel this style of watch looks better on a strap than on a bracelet, like green rubber straps the San Martin comes on or a classic waffle or tropic style strap.
Thanks mate and yeah I think the black would be the way to go, but all my others are green so thought keep some consistency going. Haven't tried it on the strap yet but I may down the line.
I totally agree! I have the black as well, and I always wear it on a red rubber strap. It just ends up being lighter, more comfortable, and looks better (the bracelet has always looked and felt cheap, and the strap really makes the watch pop).
Great review. Should have demonstrated the incredible performance from the lume which is better than that on a Tudor Black Bay, which is just a tad more expensive that this Steeldive Lol.
Overall though, great content 🤜🤛
Thanks mate and I did show the lume at around 5 mins in but I don't really talk about it anymore as a lot of you guys said that was the thing you're least interested in.
Great review. These are priced so low it is unbelievable value, but they do see to have more quality control issues than the more expensive AliExpress brands like Heimdallr and San Martin.
Thanks and ikr, such good value and mine a few small little issues, but nothing major. Would really like the heim and others as well to see which really is the best.

I've got two SD "Willards" a black dial one that I got about a year ago and the green one on a bracelet. I think they are fantastic value for money. After seeing your review of the San Martin "Willard" I bought their Bronze version with a dark green dial. It arrived today and it is Stunning !! A fair bit pricier than the SD but worth every penny ! Great review of a great watch. Keep em coming !!

There is also the Addiesdiver 200m Sub homage quartz diver. Hovers around 30 to 50 USD. If one doesn’t mind quartz, apparently comes from same place as Steeldive, so similar good finishing and quite a high level of specs. Wes, if you still have the Duro, the Addies would make a very good head to head against the Casio. Great video, thanks.

Yes! It is still the best value watch on AE. I picked up a black no logo SD1970 on SS bracelet for $76 during the 11/11 sale last year. How can they do an NH35, sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel at that price?
Comfortable on the wrist, great looking dial and amazing lume, it gets an unfair share of wear. The clasp is the weak point of this watch, but I haven't changed it out. I have a 6-3/4" wrist and it wears really well. I need to get the green version during the next sale.

I just got mine in black with stainless steel strap, I love the green but already have 2 other green dial watches, mine is running great, bezel alignment is great, very happy with it. Just waiting for more the Aliexpress sale, I hope I can get a couple deals, I have 4 picked out already. I'm trying to at least have 50 watches by years end, Currently at 38. Nice review!

Great video as always. Trust me when I say these watches wear much better with the waffle straps. That's how people wore them in the 1970s, including Martin Sheen and Mick Jagger.
I quite like bracelet but I would for sure try the strap as well.
You're really knocking out the videos mate! This is a very nice watch. Really like the colour scheme and the handset looks great. On the weight I do like a good solid watch, my Heimdallr Monster comes in at around 190 gms but with my 8" wrist I used all the links. That's a good point about the rehaut, but I could live with it. And as it's St Patrick's Day for us Irish lads, you picked a good day to show a green watch. I'm wearing my Tissot Seastar green dial today. 🇮🇪🇮🇪☘️☘️☘️☘️😁

It is just a happy coincidence uploading a video about a green accented watch. 190, that would be a dumbbell on my skinny wrist, but I'm sure it would be more wearable with a few links removed. Regards the price mate, we should always build in 20% VAT when ordering from China, many people forget that. That Steeldive offers great value, although I find the Turtle a bit chunky for me. Just did a review on a rather nice green diver myself

That Tissot of yours looks the business! Steeldive really do make some super nice watches! The dial is almost the same colour as my 4x4 so I dont mind all the green haha! Looks like the 7 in the date window is slightly out of alignment. The value here is very good!

This is one design that I would want SEIKO on the dial. Other's mileage may vary.
I do agree, I have an original, but they can be very expensive for some and in some ways this is better than mine which has a hardlex crystal. I've never scratched it even while diving, but the sapphire is better, and this even has the Seiko movement inside. It is s good option for some but it's true you cannot beat getting that true Seiko on the dial.
Only issue is that the Seiko is around $1k.
@@karlsenula9495 Yes, I only paid $270 for mine but have been offered $1,000 and more as it's in perfect condition despite being worn quite a lot. Would never part with it though. It's like a member of the family!
Agreed @Christopher Johnson I would love a Seiko reissue but I haven't got near on a grand to get one.

Probably still the best value for money budget homage of the Willard. I have one and don't plan on upgrading.
However that being said there are better, if more expensive, homages out there right now ... literally just watched a video of the Rdunae Willard before this.
Agreed, from what I've seen of the three I've own, this is a real contender. I do really want the Rdunae but bit pricey at the moment. Thanks for watching

Funnily enough I've been looking at picking up a mini-turtle but need to thin the collection down a bit first before being able to fund one.

@@brettnicholas3190 mini turtles are so underrated. I think they're really nice looking. I got shafted on a blue one and scammed. Got money back tho cos it was on credit card. I almost bought another over the Christmas but couldn't decide which colour to put in basket. In the end I went out a few days later and bought the green prospex willard on black silicone. Love that watch.
