It was such an unexpected surprise! I’m rewatching Clone Wars rn and saw that episode like two weeks ago, when the Zillo beast showed up I was at the edge of my seat!
I really like how this episode did not use that phase of "you have no idea what you're dealing with" The empire knew exactly what they were dealing with and handled the situation within seconds of arriving, while the bad batch was so clueless on what to do and they made things worse I also like how the bad batch are finally standing up towards Cid even omega they're at their breaking with her
To be fair, most of the time when they're "failing" it's because she didn't send them on an actual lucrative mission. Most recent example being the one they cut ties for, where they went to recover a "valuable" artifact and that artifact ended up unleashing a world destroying robot and she was like "meh, you should have known" and wouldn't help them. That coupled with her crossed partner from the racing episode warning them, paired with every other time she's sent them on a doomed mission, and all the fault lies with her. They were right to cut ties, she only cares about what she *thinks* is going to make her money. She doesn't care about them at all, she saw an opportunity for assets to be used and went for it, she cares about them as much as the empire cares about Crosshair.
Cant be the only one who loved how efficient the empire was in this From the moment the venators emerged to the end of the episode Jus cold efficiency and perfect music
There's a reason why in the movies where the empire is going after. Luke is to capture not to kill. That's why they're less effective. But here everyone's expendable that they're hunting and will be cold and calculated.
Good to see Scorch in this episode. Still wanna see the other squad members though. And that ending though, the chills knowing Omega is gonna be on the Empires radar now
I held my breath on the Kashyyyk episode with the hope they could have ran into Sev, but alas. At least Delta is canon and from what Scorch showed he was capable of in a fight during Season 1, they're still some of the hardest clones around.
@@KingShibe In the credits they put him as being Scorch. so i think thats confirmation that its actually him despite them first saying its just another commando that resembles him

Out of all the stats of the Zilo beast, it having no lactic acid is one of the more terrifying. Its muscles don't get tired and ache from overuse. It doesn't need to stop.
There are some people who've been expecting the Zillo back for ages, I hope this episode makes them really happy. Is it me or did the closeups on Hemlock remind anyone else of soemthing like Thunderbirds or Team America? Those shadowy close ups felt incredibly ominous, like they spent extra time lighting this one.
Interesting little detail was that when tech and omega were on the ship tech actually made eye contact with omega. Showing new level of respect and friendship.
So glad, that they continued this story line. Could be intriguing where this will lead up to. I wonder if they build up Hemlock as a major recurring villain, maybe even showing up in a live-action project. Anyway, great episode and recap.
Ryan, you (and Doug) have become my go-to for breakdowns. I still like others (like New Rockstars), but I just love your presentation style. I appreciated your LOTR: RoP breakdowns as well, so keep it up!
This episode brought back those Clone Wars vibes, not just with the return of the Zillo beast but just in terms of being a fun, action packed episode that had broader galaxy-wide implications. Thanks Ryan, love the channel.
Commando from the end of the episode might be Scorch from Republic Commando. His armor is colored in similar way. Of course it's just a guess, I may be wrong about it.
When the Zillo Beast ran off into the woods, I thought for sure we were going to see Hunter doing some hunting. They've really been using him as nothing but the dour group leader for this entire season, and it would be nice to see his unique mutations come into play again.
Tech: the crew was most likely eaten by the creature…I doubt it is currently hungry. Omega: it ate the crew? Wrecker: how is that helping Tech? Omega:…it ate the crew… Probably the funniest part of the episode. Growing from the last two episodes, we are seeing Tech in a more protective state for Omega. When the ship exploded, we see Tech grab Omega and twist around and shielding her from the blast. Love this show.
Loved the scene where they negotiated with Cid and everyone looked up to hunters reaction and reacted accordingly, especially wreckers reaction is cute
Great episode, the gang calling Cid out on her shit ,and they are coming back empty handed again. Miģht be cause for quite the confrontation next episode. It's been almost 13 years since we got the tease about zilo beast cloning ,and now we finally get to see it amazing. I loved the comment from tech talking about how the empire wanted to monopolize cloning.
"We all love that, right?" What I do love is Ryan and Doug on a split screen. What I do love is how Ryan can be critical of and still love Star Wars. I love Star Wars (and saying love, and using parentheses). And between Favreau, Filoni, and Gilroy (and Arey), the stories I personally need will be told. Thank you.
I have a feeling the show is telling us that what they’re are doing is not for them, they aren’t good at it for a reason, they deserve a higher purpose. Though it seems obvious anyway.
Hunter does not like most of the jobs, but he let's the team overrule him. His instinct for the outcome is part of his enhanced ability, and I wish he would assert himself more.
You forgot about Scorch. Also, I think the Bad Batch will be identified anyway, because the Empire will know what their shuttle looks like from the Clone Wars and the arial skirmish, they can put two and two together and get the Bad Batch. The Doctor specifically ordered Scorch to identify them. If they're hunting Omega anyway, that's going to make life a lot harder for the Bad Batch.
It's funny cause after the treasure hunt episode with the giant weaponized robot, it reminded me of the Zillo Beast so I watched that arc. Then as this episode was playing out, my brother and I had some suspicions that it could be the Zillo Beast, the size being the only concern. Then we see it grow exponentially inside the ship and it started to confirm again.
On a serious note - assuming no-one dies (which is looking *EXTREMELY* unlikely) i think next season we'll see the full Clone Force 99 again (Hunter, Echo, Tech, Crosshair, Wrecker & Omega)

I love The Batch & how it fleshed out the cloning storyline. Also it brings up the ethical concerns of the technology that Clones are not things but living feeling & thinking beings. We really root for The Bad Batch because their "defects" endear the audience to them.
I like how this episode continues to show how much the bad batch are not in peak form when missing some of its team. Elegantly illustrated when the Empire shows up, sees the Zillo beast, and immediately proceeds to knock out the power supply to keep the beast from growing - which effectively kept it from going after the villagers and made it easier to deal with now that it wasn't feeding. Why didn't the bad batch think of that before the empire showed up? Probably because they were spread thin with too many things to worry about and didn't really get a chance to put together that idea.
