Hi everyone! Thank you so much for taking the time to sit and chat awhile. I received SO many questions for this Q&A and that means a lot to me. I'm only able to answer some here as I like to keep these videos to a particular length, however if this is something y'all like, I will definitely do a part 2...maybe even a LIVE Q&A! As for this hat: this is a pattern I wrote awhile ago (before Ronan was born) that I am in the process of tweaking just a touch in order to publish it. I'll be chatting a lot more about that on the next episode of the podcast. This sweater is a store-bought sweater from the Madewell company. It's one of my favorites. ❤
When you opened the box I was like "smell it, smell the leather, isn't she going to smell it? ok she smelled it." There's just something about new leather goods that demand a smell test lol.
I absolutely love this channel. Everything about it. The music intro, the homeyness of it with you drinking tea and your voice is nice to listen too. I loved your advice about realizing your kids are going to keep growing and you only have so much time while they are young. I’m 68 and my girl and grandson are all grown up. Barely ever get to see my grandson now. I cherish the memories I have of being with him his entire life while he was growing up. Going to the park, beach etc. Take care. 🧶
I love hearing the slurpy cup knit kit 👍🏻🧶🥰🥰 I have 3 children (adults now) and I totally get the up early to have alone time before your day starts 👍🏻. Love the Q&A time! A beautiful bag!!!
I think I knew about your yarn but I just found these videos and am just randomly watching /binging them. This one was fun. The lipstick question made me think of how Very Pink Knits puts her nail color in her show notes.
OK the sweater you are wearing... I am obsessed!!! How are there not yet questions in the comments about it? Did you make it and/or design it? (I snooped through your Ravelry projects but didn't see it.) If made, who is the designer? If store bought, what is the brand on the label? I am just in love with the striping pattern and how the sleeves are fashioned.
I also really love the shoulder detail on the sweater Tayler is wearing. I'm interested in knowing where the sweater was purchased as well. Thanks in advance!
Very interesting podcast. New subscriber here. I found one of your videos yesterday. Great find! Lots of fun listening to you answer questions and share. I appreciate that. My kids are grown and I have 10 grandchildren so, even though I’m at a different place in life, I can definitely relate. Balance is key. Wishing you much success in all your knitting and fiber adventures! Thanks for showing us the footage of the Vegas strip. My husband and I were there almost 46 years ago on our honeymoon! It sure has changed! Looking forward to watching your videos. Thanks for sharing!💕
Understand your feelings about the “strip.” I live on the mainland (coastal NC), close enough to the beach to hear the sea bouy. However, I almost never cross the bridge to the barrier island. The locals leave that to the tourists and, like you, we appreciate the economy boost they give us.
We went to Vegas last month on a Monday night -only to go to meow wolf. (Awesome experience we’ve been to all of them now!) Afterwards I thought my adult daughter should see the strip, if only just to drive by. Two hours later we got back to our condo. It was exhausting to be in traffic with so many distractions! I’m surprised there isn’t an accident on every corner. I probably won’t go back to the strip, but I would visit a yarn store. 😊
If I could add my two cents on achy wrists, as someone who has carpal tunnel and loves to knit, I have found that compression gloves really do give me some relief. I personally use the gloves from lion brand, they're not too pricey and are very comfortable to wear while knitting. P.S. Thank you, Taylor, for being my buddy while I work on my projects, I especially love watching your dyeing videos while I work as I've just dipped my toes into dyeing yarn and your color ways are super inspiring. Happy knitting, dyeing, crocheting and now, spinning to you too.
I'm somewhat self taught from some old craft books when I was young. Apart from buying a bunch of Interknits magazines, I didn't buy books about knitting. But some time around 2005 I did pick up The Crochet Answer Book and The Knitting Answer Book. Good drawings of the steps. Small size to take along. I also have a few of them Katrinkles squares for really quick reminders. But if there's a stumper of a question I can usually find it somewhere in these two guides.
I loved this Q and A and thank you for sharing personally your stories and struggles with balancing work and family.I went back to work after my firstborn and went on to have two more. I was lucky to be in a position where my husband stayed home with then but I still missed a lot of them 5 days a week. At times I overdid it by then filling the entire weekend with them by my side which can be unhealthy as well and I lost myself. It does get easier as they get older and now in high school and college but I don’t regret any of it. I am glad you found your balance and thank you for sharing it! And kudos to everyone for such creative questions to ask you😁
Thank you Gracey. And what you say here about having them close by all the time also being unhealthy is SO true. We need to afford ourselves the time to have a solid identity outside of being a parent. It charges us up and fulfills us and that’s so important. ❤️
Thanks for the clip. I lived in Vegas quite a few years ago and loved it. Needless to say, it's changed and grown quite a bit. Brought a smile to my face. Love watching your videos!
I also majored in theater for two semesters and changed to early education. It was the best decision and led to a 40 year long career in early education that ended with me working in early ed policy making at the government level in Massachusetts. I retired in 2018 and now I have all the crafting time I could ask for and it still doesn’t feel like enough. Thanks for the fun q and a.
That bag is stunning, the quality is so evident even through video. Also, I was sitting on my butt, not wanting to get up, knitting, while watching this and was influenced by the lip color bit. I ordered the Honest one, since I love me a good orange-red, knowing that I have a few Honest tinted lip balms already and like them. Anyway, it arrived yesterday and when I went to put it away low and behold, I already had the color. 😶🤣 This is quite typical of me, I gravitate towards the same lip and nail colors constantly. Anywho, loved this Q&A episode and hope you do more !!
This was one of the most refreshing episodes. ❤ Love listening to the ‘real talk’ about balancing fiber passion with family life because it’s 100% relatable for all of us in some way. I am also a yarn dyer/avid hand-spinner/knitter/crocheter/sewist 😅 and it could take over my whole life if I let it. Stepping away from some of it sometimes and putting things on the back-burner is absolutely necessary.
You can definitely tell that you have a background/training in education. The reason I found your podcast initially was from your video on how to use mohair and variegated yarns. I love how much I learn from your podcast. I also think doing yoga helps avoid any hand or wrist issues with knitting. I do 20 minutes of yoga every morning and haven't had any problems with hand or wrist pain and I knit about 6 hrs a day.
After watching this the other day I immediately ordered the Honest lipstick in the same color and am in heaven. The color is shockingly great on me 🥰 and it feels super soothing. Thanks for sharing everything in this video! 🎉
I learned how to knit as a kid, then back when I was pregnant with my daughter I picked it back up....and couldn't remember what to do! I used the book Stich n Bitch as my guide to help me re-learn how to knit. I've had 2 copies of the book, the first copy my sister borrowed and then she moved away. I never got the book back, so I bought a second copy...both are well used books and it shows!
Good morning. Thank you for the Q&A and the unboxing. I have been around your podcast for a long time and remember when your second son was born. It’s so great that you have been able to find a balance between motherhood, your business and your passions. It all comes together, right? It’s happening for me too and sometimes it’s a little chaotic and messy. Right now I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanks for your candid answers.
I really love how open and vulnerable you were while answering questions. So beautiful and inspiring. Definitely the best q&a I’ve seen. Thank you❤️❤️❤️❤️ super well done ❤️
Some strange questions. “Are you a vegetarian?” “What do you plan to do with your hair?” LOL. 😂. I agree about children being a blessing and enjoy them, it goes too fast. I also was/am a full time mom to 4 sons. Hand raising my own children was the most amazing thing I ever did. My youngest is about to turn 18. Grad is soon but he only started kindergarten yesterday. My oldest will be 35. It all went so fast. Cherish them. I also agree life is too short to not have nice treats. Enjoy the swanky bag. Use the good dishes, wear the blouses saved for special occasions on regular days.
Oh gosh your answer about balancing life and children really hit home. Tomorrow your kids will be a little bigger 😭 Also - if it’s not a hell yes, then it’s a hell no - will be words I live by!! Love that!!
Love your podcast! Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge with us. I went to Las Vegas in December 2013 and my favorite thing was hiking Ice Box Canyon Trail with my husband.
Hi Jennifer! Thank you for watching! Ice Box canyon is a fantastic hike. It's a favorite for locals in the summer because it stays about 10-15 degrees cooler in the canyon all day in the summer. It's called 'ice box' (you may already know this) because of the cooler temps due to the fact that the canyon never sees direct light. ❤️
Hi Tayler, I discovered your podcasts/videos a few months ago and really enjoy your content and your vibe 😍 Thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge with us 😘
Tayler loved this Q&A. I loved what you had to say. I also love your asthetic. I am the same as you. Our morning starts are 5:30. And I’m like it’s 9 pm I’m ready for bed😂 your new bag is gorgeous. So happy smelled it lol Have a great day
Good luck with growing your hair. I like to change my hair so I’ve been known to impulsively get the big chop then after a few months I get tired of the need for frequent haircuts and decide to let it grow. You just have to hang in there for 4-6 months and resist the impulse to get it cut.
Thanks for that little trip down the Strip! My parents lived in the Green Valley part of Henderson while I was in college, and I worked for the City Parks and Rec there when I was home during the summer, and my sis currently lives in the Southern Highlands area. It’s been a while since I was back to visit though, and the Strip likes to change a bit when you don’t visit for years at a time! I’d love to know whether or not there are any LYS in the area though, and whether or not your yarn shows up in them…. Might be making a trip there soon!
Hi Tayler I am new to your vlog and I love catching up with you twice a week. I live in the UK on the south coast. Your enthusiasm for knitting is so infectious. Best wishes
I KNEW IT! And now I need a large leather bag by Jesabelle. I have 1 small fabric, 1 medium fabric, 1 medium felt and a felt and leather purse... I need a large leather, right? 😂
I thought your hair looked so cute in the last episode! Yes yes yes to dying fiber. As a spinner myself, I don't really buy a lot of yarn, but fiber.... I could totally get on board with that!
I enjoyed learning more about your story. I’m an early riser and early-to-bed person as well. I wake up at 6 AM no matter what time I go to bed, so…gotta hit the hay early. The bag is beautiful. Enjoy!
I love learning all the nuances about you. To the woman that was asking about balance with kids and knitting. I’m 40 and I had my 3rd son (yay boy moms) last year (pleasant surprise baby❤), my oldest two sons are teenagers and I regret not taking the time to just be silly with my boys when they were little. At that time I was trying to do all the things and keeping up with all the activities. Now that I get to do it all again with a lil one I try to enjoy as much f this time as possible. I knit at night after bedtime or if he’s preoccupied with his toys. There are days where no knitting is done but that’s ok. It will be there when I return but he won’t always be the age where mom is the most interesting person in the world 😂 so breathe and just enjoy. Knitting will work it’s way in the mix at some time.
I just had my needles & notions case from Jesabelle B today. It is soooo well made! I had ordered the large bag like your leather one but I got the denim one without the snaps. I'm addicted to her stuff.
Thank you for your honest and heartfelt answers...especially the last one about balancing kids and knitting. So true! 'Your kids will only be who they are today, today...' Thank you for that reminder!
We visited Vegas a few years ago, and the strip was fine, but my favorite area was just outside of the Fremont street area! It was such a cool/artsy vibe. When we walked around there, I was like I could live here!
Hi Tayler. Please do make the collab tasting session with NATR happen if at all possible. A session with you, Kevin and Ray would be too funny. I thought your response about balance in life and priorities was great. Saying no is a skill more (overly busy, over scheduled) people need to develop and embrace. I enjoyed your unboxing: such exuberance when you're happy! Great ramble ❤
I treated myself to one of Jesabelle's smaller bags after your other video. It's even more of an investment when you have Canada - UK shipping & the possibility of customs charges to add in. However, after a sneaky peek, I'm keeping it to have as a birthday present (April!!) and customs didn't pick it up so, yay!
Thanks for answering my question about parent/knitting balance. It’s nice to hear about the highs and lows of it all. I have a six year old and a eight month old and definitely know that every day is different.❤
Oooh, that bag! And she's from Canada so I wouldn't have to pay exchange rate or import taxes. Might have to put something on my Christmas wish list. Interestingly, about yoga, I sprained my wrist overdoing it at a class. Didn't bother me too much at first but the pain slowly got worse. Needed to see a physiotherapist and really ended up modifying my yoga practice. Wasn't crocheting much then and I just picked up knitting 2 years ago. Still modifying my crafting to limit pain and breaks are #1.
I started knitting on a whim between college and starting my first job teaching high school. I got a "kit" at Walgreens (like a CVS) in the craft section (cheap needles, cheap cheap yarn) No real reason why. After that I was INTO it.
My husbands family lives in Vegas as well, his mom actually lives in Henderson too and walking down the strip can get so tiresome but I absolutely love the lights of everything!
Oooooh June Gilbank's book! She actually just released a new updated version of the crochet book, it's called Every Day Crochet! I love her patterns, she's amazing.
It never occurred to me that G&T is a form of special education. To me, it was just getting pulled out of elementary classrooms to do more interesting things. I always learn something from your videos, and this was definitely not something I'd expected you to teach me!
I just had a browse through the shop if the maker of the bag you unboxed. Girl, I think I’m going to be in trouble with my husband. Lol. I plan on buying several of her products. Just as soon as I can talk him into the purchase of such frivolous nature (his words not mine…lol).
Mena, this means so much. I was worried that I didn’t answer enough, but at the same time I wanted to be sure to provide more than just a superficial answer where possible. Thank you so much for saying so. ❤
Your answer for the last question about balancing life in your career, as a mom, wife, friend, everything really hit me hard. I had a traumatic delivery with my daughter when she was born prematurely and she was in the NICU for awhile. Before having her I was always a go getter at work and my career was everything. After having her, she opened me up to all the joy in life other than work. It was hard. I had so much guilt and I lost my identity during her first years. I feel like a lot of moms experience this, but your answer nailed it on the head. Find what you love and cut out what is affecting your mental health in a negative way. I had to set so many boundaries on people and on myself. Easier said than done but it makes a world a difference. And hug and be present with your littles as much as possible! You are so right that time doesn’t stop and they are growing every second of the day 🥹😢 my daughter is now turning 4 in a couple months!!
Oh Justine I’m so glad to know that this resonated with you. And I TRULY and INTIMATELY know the feeling of losing your identity in the beginning with a new little one. Lord, do I know. Thank you so much for watching and for letting me know that you took something away. ❤
@@WOOLNEEDLESHANDS thank you so much Tayler! Truly appreciate you commenting back ❤️ during all the hardship, I learned how to knit and I think it truly saved me! I am now so in love with this knitting community and girl, you got me thinking of trying to learn how to spin!!! Thank you thank you for your videos every week ❤️
No question, just a prediction/observation: As you go on your spinning journey, I think you are going to find the dyeing and blending of various fibers to be absolutely engrossing. The possibilities for color and yarn are endless. It's the reason I cannot get enough of spinning (and I used to sell hand-dyed yarn, and then fiber, online, but gave it up when I had to get a Real Job on 2008). It's soooo satisfying. I can't wait for you to dip your toe in that water!
I really enjoy your vlogs and discussions. Thank you! Also, you keep reminding me to call my friends who also live in Henderson. So thank you for that too!
As a local Las Vegan the only time we are on the strip is if we have friends/family visiting from out of town. Once in a blue moon we have gone to a concert at the mgm. Moved here when my kids were 2 years, and 6 months old. One of my sons first words were “sino”. For casino as we were driving down I-15 😂. Also. Did you knit that sweater you are wearing? If so what pattern is it.
I really needed to hear the advice you gave about finding that balance and letting go of the things that are too much. As a stay at home mom of a toddler and building a business I can relate to what you said. I always try to remember to appreciate the little moments while I can.
Hi Tayler, really enjoyed your Q and A especially your favourite books. I have been looking for a good crochet one so have ordered the one you recommended. I used to crochet in my youth - even made a crochet mini dress - but have not crochet for years so need a good guide to get me going again. A knitting book I have found particularly useful is Ann Budd’s getting started knitting socks. It helped me become a prolific sock knitter and I still go back to it for tips and techniques. Best wishes from Melbourne, Australia.
Thank you Taylor so many good questions with great answers. I wanted to asked you about knitting lights, do you have a good one specially for knitting at nigh? Do you know anything about the Lumos Lumos knitting lights?
I was looking….again to all your videos…looking for the hand cream that you mention in one of the videos. Love your podcast and where are your tutorials?.
Hi Isabel! I’m not sure which hand Cream you’re referring to here. I’ll see if I can think of which one I recommended. As for tutorials, I’m not much for them. Unless I’m very inspired to share a technique, I usually leave tutorials to other folks on the UA-cam. 👍
And here is a question. What camera do you to film? It's very nice quality, i like the way you have it set up, the charity of yiu and the slightly out of focus backgroundand depth of field. Makes it all visually very pleasant to watch, or maybe that's just you and your decor! Sound quality great too.
That bag is stunning. It's going on my wish list. The little trip down the strip was fun. Thanks for that. It was a pleasure getting to know you a little through the Q&A. Another entertaining mid-week ramble.
Hi Tayler! I really enjoy your channel - always enjoy a cozy mug of something when I watch. I attended a knitting retreat a couple weeks ago, and one of the speakers was The Knitting PT, who has a channel here on UA-cam. She had fantastic content to help keep knitters and crocheters feeling good while we craft. Thought you'd enjoy checking her out!
Hi everyone! Thank you so much for taking the time to sit and chat awhile. I received SO many questions for this Q&A and that means a lot to me. Lol! Oh for sure. The only reason I didn’t bury my face in the box immediately upon opening it was to maintain my decency. 😂
YAAASS I love going into a tack shop and just taking a deep breath!

Tayler loved this Q&A. I loved what you had to say. I also love your asthetic. I am the same as you. Our morning starts are 5:30. And I’m like it’s 9 pm I’m ready for bed😂 your new bag is gorgeous. So happy smelled it lol
Have a great day
Good luck with growing your hair.
Best wishes
My kids got me the same bag (in black) for my 60th birthday this month and I’m so grateful and love it!!❤❤
Yasss! Way to go Lynne’s kiddos!! ❤️❤️
I'm at the beginning of the video and just by looking at the box I'm pretty sure I know what's in there... 😍
Enjoy!
I also learned to knit from the Knitting for Dummies book, circa 2004-5.
All the Vegas stuff reminded me of OmegaMart, have you ever been? It's so amazing, and you should absolutely go sometime if you've never gone before!
Hi Missus Earl! I really am enjoying the music you picked for the Strip Tour! It's toe-tappin'.
You should add little pins of your female portraits to your merch shop. I love adding pins to my lanyard for work!
This is my feel good podcast 🥰 always grateful when I see new episodes uploaded. Thank you
That means a lot Anna. Thank you! ❤
Another great ramble! I love Wednesdays! That bag, Tayler. That bag is glorious. I’m so glad you indulged - you deserve it!
That bag is GORGEOUS 🤩
I started knitting on a whim between college and starting my first job teaching high school. I got a "kit" at Walgreens (like a CVS) in the craft section (cheap needles, cheap cheap yarn) No real reason why. After that I was INTO it.
My husbands family lives in Vegas as well, his mom actually lives in Henderson too and walking down the strip can get so tiresome but I absolutely love the lights of everything!
Your podcast is my fave and I just adore you!!! ❤❤
Thank you for sharing ❤
Great video thank you 🧶☕️😊
You do have a great voice to listen to
Thank you Rhoda. ❤️
Oooooh June Gilbank's book! She actually just released a new updated version of the crochet book, it's called Every Day Crochet! I love her patterns, she's amazing.
28:35 🎵you got to know when to hold them… know when to show them!
Always enjoy your videos. So happy to hear she has cruelty free bags to ❤
It never occurred to me that G&T is a form of special education.
What beautiful and thoughtful answers you gave! So much more than a normal AMA.
Mena, this means so much. I was worried that I didn’t answer enough, but at the same time I wanted to be sure to provide more than just a superficial answer where possible. Thank you so much for saying so. ❤
Love your hat, beautiful bag! Great questions
What a beautiful bag. She is talented 😊😊😊
Fun Q & A!
I really enjoy your vlogs and discussions. Thank you!
Also, you keep reminding me to call my friends who also live in Henderson. So thank you for that too!
ahhh...just saw the note re the hat pattern - will have to be patient, I guess ;)
Derek Sivers reference! I have listened to him via podcasts and that book is on my list. I am finding more and more in common with you! 💜
Ooo, I will be at the Bellagio later this month. But probably won’t get to Sin City Knits
Your outfit is so adorable! When you showed the bag at the end and I saw the yellow with navy, I thought, “I need that outfit!”
FFTP fiber??? YES PLEASE!!!
Yes, I would read all of your audiobooks- whether you write them or voice them
Wow, thank you Angela. ❤
Hi. Pleas tell if this sweater You wearing was made by You? Where could I find the recepi for it. Sorry my english :D
I really needed to hear the advice you gave about finding that balance and letting go of the things that are too much. As a stay at home mom of a toddler and building a business I can relate to what you said. I always try to remember to appreciate the little moments while I can.
I’m so glad this resonated Taylor. ❤
Favorite time of the week. I love your videos! I’m off to go check out bags and order the lipstick 😊
Gorgeous. Bag.
Thank you Taylor so many good questions with great answers. I wanted to asked you about knitting lights, do you have a good one specially for knitting at nigh? Do you know anything about the Lumos Lumos knitting lights?
Love your hat!
We gotta see Pepper!!!
She has a whole video about her camera and set up, published like a couple of months ago.
Interesting Q&A! Somehow I always suspected you were an educator :)
I just got over the awkward, stupid growing out hair awkward phase, which I most often dont make it through! LMAO!!!
It's the worst! But I'm impressed. I KNOW how hard it is. ❤️
Um, I'm going to need a "If it's not a hell yes, it's a hell no!" T-shirt. Please and thank you! ;)
😉😉😉
