I bought a Yardmax plate compactor. It took three tries to get one that was not damaged beyond use on arrival. Their packaging is horrible. On the third one I just had them send me the broken parts and fixed it. Set my project back five weeks. The compactor worked like a dream once I got it running.
I never gave it a thought until you mentioned it. I have always used automotive oil except for marine applications in small engines. I will definitely research that issue (however I don’t doubt your word). Thanks 😊.
Wow, what a project that turned out to be. I would venture to say it was run initially without oil, or very little oil.oh well, nice job T bone. Keep up the great videos.
He said he checked the oil and didn't mention it being low, however he did say it was full of silver shavings. Then he did an oil change and it started knocking and locked up. It was definitely locked up tight as he showed by disconnecting spark plug & trying to move the blade.... And of course we seen how bad it was when he tore the engine apart at the end of video. Chinese garbage engine & I had one do the same thing as well. That same 170cc engine is also used on the powersmart mowers & junk....
Excellent video Mr T Bone and great video footage by your lovely assistant Mrs T, that company must have had a few engines lying about, but really good detective work finding out what caused breakdown. 👏👍
Question I bought one of these for the little amount of grass my JD rider couldn't get to. It stopped working and sounds like a bag of bolts when I try to start it. I don't have but maybe 3-4 hours tops, I've filled the tank twice. Junk ... but will they stand behind the warranty? Just wondering
It's awful the junk everything sold these days. Maybe call the company and see if they will help you. So sorry you are dealing with that companies junk. Since that video they are sending their customers to me!!! I have told them over and over their product is junk, and no we will not work on them.
@@RaleysSmallEngines yeah I hear ya, I was born in the 50's and actually I would like to get an old motorless mower for the little bit I have to cut. But thanks for responding, that too is in short supply these days. Blessings to you and yours from a old but not near done veteran.
Well at least you found out what the problem was causing it to lock, too bad the thing had to sit in your shop for 3+ weeks awaiting the correct crank length T-Bone. As usual nice camera work by Mrs T-Bone 🙂👍
Did you hone out the cylinder and reassemble to see if it would work OK then? Sure didn't see any previous cross-hatch pattern on that cylinder at all in the video.
I've had the YG1650 mower, which has the same engine, for over 4 years and have had no issues with it. It runs great for me. I do only use it mainly for my ditches though. On a side note do you know the part # for the air filter or know where to find it?
I saw all the hard carbon deposits on top the piston, but otherwise everything looked clean. Do you think the real underlying cause was the piston to bore clearance, that when the engine initially got hot under load the clearance changed and caused it to score that aluminum cylinder wall. In other words, bad machining on the cylinder diameter? Or, do you think it was the piston that was out of spec and scored first? It did not appear that the rings were broken.
@@RaleysSmallEngines A well thought out question. And you give an idiotic non answer. Like you have several times I see. Very telling of your "intellect" ha
