Value mismatch is a very elegant way to describe the clashes so many people have. Certainly helps me be more mindful and empathetic regarding people that have a violent reaction to the way I play. Great stuff as always
As a bronze 3 engi main. I will admit I sometimes go into haz 5 with ransoms and it’s some of the most rewarding experiences ever. Being able to work together and mesh all of our play styles to win and get everyone out is wonderful. As for the video you are 100% right on all points. Rock and Stone my friend, here’s a sub can’t wait to see more videos of ya
Yeah, there's nothing like that feeling of actually hitting on all cylinders with everyone around you and it can be even more satisfying in a random lobby. Thanks for the cool addition!! And thank you so much. I'll keep trying!! Rock and Stone.
Dang Gyro this was an interesting thing to see and things to hear from you. I'll always have you with me in DRG, I thoroughly enjoy playing with people that play the game differently than me and that have different skill levels than me. For Rock and Stone!! ⛏️
An excellent video. I'm a new player still grinding for the basics of weapons and mod slots, so I generally prefer solo play. But every so often, I'll pop into an open server. Since I'm putting in the time to learn each class (even though Engineer is my favorite), I feel confident in my ability to predict the needs of others and cover their class weaknesses. I know gunners and drillers struggle with quick traversal, so I'm consistently prebuilding bridges and stairs. I know scouts struggle with safe landings, so I'm placing landing pads for them. I know that myself and driller struggle with resource conservation, so I'm seeking every drop of Nitra. My entire build is focused on benefitting the team, by giving the team as many teammates as possible, and offloading some of the burden of combat onto the game itself. Shredders for mobbing, widely spread turrets to make sure that anything being kited in the area is always taking weakspot damage. Beastmaster to draw aggro. Smart rifle to avoid friendly fire. On single missions, I place resupply where the mission is happening, and I seal up the path behind it. If I have enough plascrete, I'll even seal tunnels to reduce the angles of attack the bugs have, and to give us a safe-ish place to fall back. I do my absolute best to predict the needs of others, and fill them, and if I ever really just need to throw out burst damage, that's what the cutter is for. In TF2, I'm an engineer and support pyro main, that offclasses medic and heavy. I'm very comfortable taking the jobs that no one else will do that match to support the team. And I've found that attitude translates very well to DRG.
Love your attitude and all your forethought with regards to how you like to support others in their play. I'm always grateful for a pyro watching my back when I medic. Thank you so much for the detailed and thorough comment!!
Benicopter and I are two solo players playing duos solo. That’s actually why I like playing in groups it makes me change how I play. Running off alone won’t lead to success just me or my teammates dead while lootbugs consume our dwarves.
I *love* that description of what you two do. It's been so much fun playing with you in a group and fun playing with both of you in a group, too. It was so funny when you and I were playing with Beni and Axis and you said, "This is like playing with two Beni's"... and I had to laugh as my brain was going, "This is like playing with two Axises..."
I am very late to the party but I really enjoyed this video! Everything you upload always opens my eyes to new perspectives. Hope to see you in the caves again soon :)
Thank you for all your encouragement. *laughs* And the next time we have free time that lines up, I would love to play. South Dakota has been amazing...
lol... and I'd just admired your last one so much, especially that clean connection to TF2's contract system... thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed this one
I've only just now found your channel today but I've been absolutely loving your DRG content so far! You're putting into words a lot of things I've been struggling to describe for almost a year and a half now. Is there anywhere specific I can reach out to you? I'd really love to play some missions at some point!
I'm on Discord and am a member of DRG's server so you should be able to msg me directly if you belong there. I'm also on Steam with the same icon as Autogyro.
Wow really interesting channel you got here, glad I stumbled into it, I feel like I gained a whole new perspective about the nature of CO-OP play just by listening to you sharing your thoughts with us for 12 minutes, helps that you have a really soothing voice and some very thought-provoking ideas, not at all what I expected clicking on a DRG video but I like it all the same ^_^, you got a new sub in me, hope you keep exploring these other facets of DRG in the future, Rock & Stone sister !
Rock and Stone! Glad you liked! I do enjoy thinking. 😅 And thanks so much for the subscription. I still have plans for stuff I really want to do. It should be fun
Sounds like you have great friends! That's good. I think when people can clash over stuff and still *like* each other after, it's healthy. Olaf and I don't agree on several things, but we do like playing with each other, and we respect each other even over the disagreements. So it not only works, it means we can have really different ideas, test them both and see what works for us.
I just got into the game this week and have sunk 40 hours already, this is very good to hear as far as endgame. Reminds me of the destiny 1 raid days..
heh, im a old greybeard, lvl 900, I've taken all my green beard friends thru haz 4 to haz 5, I love carrying these little guys! *Cries in 6 downs 30 revives edd as gunner* In all seriousness I honestly love the games difficulty and cant enjoy it if its too low, so I always bring my friends (usually just one to not make it too burdensome) along for haz 5 Karl and Beard Torture (KBT) and they actually get a lot better at the game by level 100 than most who make it there on their own, I talk in vc to my bros too, its gr8
Sounds like you have a wonderful method for what you and your friends like to do!! And I've that challenges you in ways that interest you and them. There is nothing like doing nothing but Haz 5. Cool you get to talk with your buddies as well. I really enjoy Discord.
I wish people just told me if they wanted to slow down or whatever if I’m going too fast. I’ve gotten kicked/ yelled at over halfway through the mission a couple of times for speeding through a mission and pushing buttons immediately. But for all those missions, we’d been going through a majority of the mission fast and smoothly without the host saying they wanted to slow down/r check. I’m not a dick or anything and I feel bad abt it I genuinely just didn’t know they didn’t want to go fast.
Exactly that... I do wish folks would talk about what bothers them before yelling or kicking. It's not fun on either side, I guess, but communicating would make it so much easier to comply. It was fun playing with you!!
As a silver 2 scout, I wonder why your assumption was that a silver scout wouldn't join a hazard 5 mission? When playing hazard 4, the game just feels rather easy, especially if you use a strong build. Assuming that you didn't name your server "lvl 100+" or something, why would you expect a player with somewhere around 100 hours of scout to be incapable of beating hazard 5?
I'm just not that good a player, and I was uncomfortable with Haz 5, especially playing with AxisKronos and the people on his server (who are mostly legendary red star scouts) until I hit gold with my guys. It's how I felt about my play and comfort level, and not something I think about other people. You'll notice a lot of silver scouts in my footage, a lot of my close friends are great in Haz 5. Sorry if that came across as a general judgement on silver scouts, wasn't meant to be that.

Just found your channel and found it really interesting! Looking forward to more videos!
Happy to have met you here in the End Game! I look forward to future sessions!
Thank you, Ryeor!!!
Fantastic video!
Thank you very much!

3:55 Who could be so mean to epc the nitra as you grappled to it. :3
🤣 Who would be? That was so perfect tho.

I'm glad you had fun playing with me! ⛏
just have fun damn
Yeah I think we are overthinking this.
