France needed an omnirole land and naval aircraft, England wanted a fighter. These requirements led to too different technical solutions to be compatible. And objectively, and I'm not saying that because I'm French, the Rafale is clearly the "winner" of this confrontation: more efficient, only on aircraft type for all missions and less expensive (production, maintenance and usage costs)

Beautiful camera work. This Rafale looks really capable, and the combo of canards and delta gives it some really unusual flight characteristics, it appeared to be sliding all over the place like a drunk on ice-skates - it did some very unusual yaw and pitch movement while rolling and it seemed to have enough energy to keep it going. I feel like the F-22 has a real aerobatic rival here.
Some years ago a simulated dogfight between the Rafale and the F-22 showed that Rafale was able to resist to the F-22 (videos are available on UA-cam). Since that USA refuse further dogfights Rafale - F-22

Many thanks 👌
Nice Elwyn. That was much better than the 'Typhoon gave us at Torbay, this weekend. Thanks for sharing.
I headed to the Midland air festival to catch the first public display of 2024! However we only got a missing man flypass which was a fitting tribute to the loss of Mark Long 😢 I'll have to wait for Cosford to see the typhoon display
Quality video Elwyn. Videoing as usual from you Elwyn was impeccable.
Thanks Darren 👍
It is a shame that british-french technological cooperation has ceased for obscure reasons.
Yes. The Concord was a magnificent bird too.
Surprisingly ,after all the biff's between our countries, I've been told that it's easier to work with English than with German.
@@metalazzo What differentiates the Germans from the British and the French is this rigidity which does not correspond to Latin culture.
@@ManuCath France needed no one exept to make the best 4.5th gen fighter, they did it, period
Stunning considering the awful weather xx
Many thanks! it was a shame but it was dry😊
Magnificent in every way.
We've seen it a couple of times on the Friday practice days. A great display.
Impatient de voir les Rafale français et les Eurofighter britanniques faire le show conjointement pour la commémoration du D Day en Normandie cette semaine, ça promet un joli spectacle !!
🙏 The French 🇫🇷 Dassault Rafale & Sweden's 🇸🇪 Saab JAS39 Gripen are great value for money fighters that capable of performing many of the tasks rostered to more expensive fighters of this generation ... 🌷🌿🌍✌💜🕊🇫🇷🇸🇪
Wow. Fine energy management throughout, an amazing display. The filming is of the kind that is so good that you don't notice at all, just the subject. Thanks mate.
Glad you enjoyed it!👌
It is better looking among the Typhoon and Grippen IMO. No surprise in keeping with Dassault Mirage lineage the Rafale is gorgeous as it is capable, spectacular display.
I've been living in "Le Bourget" when I was a Kid, I remember watching the Paris Air Show from my balcony, I've always been impressed and fascinated by the Rafale, at this time there was also Russian Mig flying also ! I could watch it for hours !
Cool 👌
Somehow, to me, Rafale always looks like it's in a hurry. And with a pilot this good, blink and you've missed it. Amazing!
@ElwynR splendid filming , hats off! 👍
Many thanks 👌
Really superb display, no wonder the French have not othered with the F35! Home grown aircraft with superb avionics and great pilots will serve the country better, why fall for the sales talk from the US? France supports its own design and manufacturing industry, unlike the UK!
i guess brexit will not enhance that situation ,
The Rafale and its pilot are a great combination! Good Video as always from Elwyn
The "hovering" capabilities of some non-VTOL aircrafts are remarkable...
Keep up the AWESOME work...
👍🏼
Indeed! 👌
At what point do they start landing them vertically?
@@pistonburner6448 ... as a professional Frenchman, I really admire prototypes like the 1959 SNECMA C.450 Coléoptère... Gallic craziness at its finest!!! 🤣
@@EssexCountyPhoto I hope the frog legs are plentiful to keep you going, my strange but wonderful French friends!
i asked the same in the Biscarosse's display few years ago. The thing can quite be "stuck" in the sky only on the thrust of the engines, its incredible.
the sound of it is close to painful indeed
Hi Elwyn
Great video again thank you very much.🛫🛫⭐️⭐️👍
You are very welcome 👌
@@ManuCath Thanks for letting me know - just went hunting and found some fabulous in cockpit footage. Dog fighting is no joke!
Pulling serious G’s throughout-amazing aircraft, pilot and filming 👍
Many thanks ☺️ it's always a pleasure to film the Rafale 👌
I've been hearing about the Rafale from William Spaniel's channel (global buyers turning away from RU to buy French) - great to see it in action. Your footage is soo darned good, you didn't skip a beat filming all this. The livery says 'edgy' to me - all the best to you!
Thanks for that Elwyn. Sadly wasn’t able to attend. Hope he’s at Fairford must be a trophy winner. Brilliant display. Be safe. Mick.
Cheers Mick, it's not down to do RIAT unfortunately 😕
c'est vraiment très bien filmé, et agréable à suivre. Bravo ! 👍🏻
Thanks ☺️
Howdy Big E! Amazing job of photography and tracking…smooth as butter! Thanks again !
Many thank Stuart 😊 👌
Incredible show of skill and fitness to endure G forces that must be off the charts for such prolonged time. Bravo!
Awesome video as always. I can’t wait for you guys to see our CF-18 when it comes over. The paint scheme this year is awesome.
I can't wait 👌
Great show, awesome craft, well captured
Thank you! Cheers!
