Thank you! I've had the same computer for almost 10 years and I thought I lost all of the music I had spent years collecting when I got a new computer. I've very grateful for your user friendly video, otherwise I might have cried over my lost music.
I am 62 years old, and not completely computer illiterate, but no IT person by any means. YOU SAVED ME $100, NICK!! I am so appreciative!! I have over 7,300 songs, and I knew there had to be a way to transfer them. Thank you so much!
Thank you SOOOOOOO much! I just got my new laptop today and I was mortified at the thought of transferring all of my music.... this worked beyond perfectly, my playcounts are there and everything! This was such a wonderful tutorial, I'm so glad that I watched this instead of paying for some software that I didn't need!
Awesome!!!!! I've searched the internet relentlessly trying to find out how to transfer songs from iTunes from one computer to another and this video was the only useful information I have ever came across! Thank you!
Nick thanks so much for this detailed explanation of a process which I had no understanding of how to undertake. Your step by step instructions were spot on for even this novice to understand. I had resolved myself to losing my entire Itunes library before I listened to your video and was very discouraged. I really appreciate that you covered every single small step and did not skip any. I owe you big time for this.
that was such a great help Nick and your tutorial was easy to follow. Brilliant, I now have my entire itunes library transferred from my slow, old laptop and onto my fast PC. Plus have it backed up on my portable hard drive. I have been thinking about doing this for months and wondering how to do it - thanks Nick!
Thank you!!! I tried unsuccessfully for days to figure out how to transfer iTunes, but with your video tutorial, I did it within 8 minutes. I feel like a computer warrior, now!!!
very simple, concise, to the point, clear and you didn't assault us with some obnoxious, loud Logo ID in the beginning to self promote ..and we thank you... LOL
Nick you are the man. I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to transfer itunes from my old computer to my new computer. I would highly recommend this tutorial
YAY!!! it worked! thankyou so muchhhh. all the other videos were too confusing and just too much work. you explained each step so well. you are now my computer guy. so be ready for anything that comes to you. muahaha.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I have to share this! I have been trying to do this for months now and ran into so many problems. This is the only video that made this process real simple.
I have been trying forever to get my iTunes transferred, went to the apple store and everything and no help! thank you so much this was very clear and worked perfectly!!
I tried just copying my saved songs to my new computer then importing them to Itunes. But the problem with that was that it would lose some of the information I made in Itunes; such as changes to artists names etc. So thank you so much for saving me so many hours, very informative and to the point.
Thank you so much! I was beginning to think that this was impossible after browsing forums and tech websites for two days and finding nothing that solved my problem. The consolidation part is what I was missing, but I can't believe it took me this long to find a site/video that discussed such a simple process. Thanks again!
Great job in illustrating and explaining this procedure! I have struggled with this for weeks, even with Tech Support from Apple!! and you made it easy to follow. Thank you!
Thank you so much, followed the first steps & put iTunes on to external hard drive, then also decided ( as I have 3 separate drives on my laptop ) to also put on D drive. Reset C drive back to factory settings & then put iTunes back on to C drive, all working great. Thanks again.
I actually watched your video yesterday and it was very helpful It was so much easier then what I thought it was going to be you did a good job at explaining it and illustrating it so thank you it was very helpful
Thank you so much for this. The last time I had issues with a new computer or having to restore my computer from a back up, I couldn't find anything or anyone to explain this to me. It was a nightmare. But I followed your steps and my music is there complete with my play count which I particularly like.
This was VERY HELPFUL!!!! Thank you so much! You saved me and my iTunes music and apps!!! Your instructions and steps were delivered very well and simplistically. Thanks, again!
Thanks for your help. I finally got it to work! The problem was with my old computer and Part 1. The address for itunes on the old computer under preferences/advanced showed c/users/nick/music itunes/itunes music so I copied the itunes music file. That did not bring over the playlists or apps etc. so it did not work. I then deleted and recopied from the old computer just from the itunes folder and it all came over. Thanks for your patience in answering my questions.
Thank you for this amazing tutorial i've been looking for days to find a way do this and without this tutorial i would still be searching for a solution!
Oh thank you this worked can I do the same with my save places on Google earth or do I do something different? Only thing I just noticed are some of the album covers didn't transfer over they are just music notes. Is there anything I can do to transfer the ones that didn't?
Great video! Easy to follow. I had tried to copy before and was copying songs twice. This process copied exactly like it was on my old computer. Very helpful! Thank you!
Thanks Nick. I've been trying to do this for a long time now. All sorted! Also managed to get my wonderful Coverflow back all thanks to the good guys on You Tube. Cheers.
Cheers Nick, super clear and explained just at the right pace for me to pause & follow along with my own applications. Thank you for helping resolve! :)
thanks for replying, like i said before i dropped my old computer and lost everything all i have is my ipod i just got a new computer and im following your instructions but my question is do i first download itunes into my new computer and if so after i plug the ipod wont i get a window telling me if i sync i will loose all my songs,i havent done anything yet i want to make sure first because in your tutorial you already have itunes on your computer, thanks its people like u that make a diference
Hey Nick, I was just wondering, does this method consolidate everything? Or just music and apps? Because i have movies and music videos and books and tv shows also... And does this work if the old computer is a PC and the new computer is a Mac? And does this also save to memory which devices i have synced?
The video was great. but you only did a transfer with a couple songs. How can i tell how large my itunes file will be so that i can get the right size USB or if an external hard drive would be better? I have alot of movies and music.
Thank you Nick. It worked perfectly, and I had 4700 songs to move (from 15-20 different locations on old PC). My guess about why some people didn't succeed (as stated in other comments) is that they didn't wait long enough for the time-consuming steps that are involved. There were 2 different steps that took me over an hour just WAITING TIME, The only reason I knew to wait, was my Mozilla Firefox icon, at the bottom, was partially green, indicating that it was still searching and sorting the music files. The only way I knew when it was done is that the color of the icon returned to normal.
In reference to your point where you need source files from the computer, I can't do it that way as my old computer died way before I found out about your tutorial, and the only source of my podcasts and music is my iPod. Do you know of any other ways I can fix this problem?
I really liked how easy you made the transfer, however i think you forgot to mention that the computer will have to be activated if the person is to sync iphone, ipad, ipod and so on. Maybe showing them that at the same time as the transfer then they could put 2 + 2 together.
Thank you for creating this step by step instructional video Nick. I just hope that I can do the same process in 2017 and the transfer be successful! Anyway I will certainly give it a shot.
great directions, easy to follow - but still didn't work for me. on my new laptop the only songs my iTunes can find - though it shows that it's looking for songs in my correct (transferred) folder - are songs i've purchased and downloaded from iTunes...it doesn't find anything i've imported from a CD. any thoughts/help? i don't know how many hours i've spent trying to get this right...
not working. @ 5:42 when you open up itunes i do not get that screen? no library to open up? i have my library saved to my desktop off of my flash drive saved to my desktop. i drag the folder into the new window after i delete the itunes created folders.....nothing!
Hi! I saw this video after i had transferred my songs and movies into my new itunes on my new computer. However, i did it differently. I transferred the individual music folders and the tv show folders into my new itunes but i did not do the "delete" and "copy" with the whole itunes media thing as you did. Is that okay, too?
I've got a Windows 7 laptop I was hoping to reinstall Windows on it and then put iTunes back onto the computer! I've got all the music files on an external hard drive and I was hoping to be able to save the playlists art etc so I don't have to rip all my cd's all over again! would this process work with this as well?
Hi Nick thank you so much for the video it has really helped me, I really appreciate your work good to know there are some decent folk out there. Nice one fella
Hi! For the last couple of days I've been struggling trying to connect my iPod to iTunes having installed it to a new computer. The thing is that I bought a new computer and installed there iTunes. But when I tried to connect my iPod to the iTunes, it didn't connect. I searched a lot for help and reached to your tutorial. So, do I have to just transfer music, videos etc from the old iTunes to the new one? But how to fix this problem that my new iTunes does not recognize my iPod? Thank you!
Wish I would have found your video last Spring, when I did indeed transfer from Windows XP to Windows 7 my iTunes Library. I discovered the same method of moving the entire library, but I didn't know about the consolidate library feature (I really didn't need it since my Music & APPS were organized under iTune save 2 PDFs I forgot to transfer). Apple was no help. The one thing I ran into is in Windows 7 I had to edit permissions of "iTunes Library.itl" (If I Recall correctly) before SYNC.
Hi hope you can help as I would really like this way to work :-) I followed all the steps you went through but when I try to play any of the tracks that have been moved to the new iTunes I get an exclamation mark by all the track listings and none of the tracks will play? Helllllp :-)
Only thing I might have you add as a possible 'side bar' is if someone is transferring an original ITunes library from an original PC into another PC or laptop that may already have part of an ITunes library.....what actions should be done. Thanks!
if i consolidate all my music files can i delete the original ones? wouldnt consolidating double the amount of hard drive space being taken up on my computer?
Thank you! I've had the same computer for almost 10 years and I thought I lost all of the music I had spent years collecting when I got a new computer. I've very grateful for your user friendly video, otherwise I might have cried over my lost music.
Anyone else think Apple should be making this a lot f'ing easier?
Steven McBrien Couldn't agree more. I love my iPod but this shit this is stupid. I had a Microsoft Zune that was soooooo much easier to use.
Steven McBrien that's the thing i love and miss about android. apple guys tech are just lazy c**nts for not making it easier
mm...When I get stuck, I just use ZillaTube. It works great too, and it's very easy to use. Just google for "zillatube"
absolutely !!!

Anyone can become one. Thanks for posting your successfulness.

I was honestly very afraid that I would lose all my music! Thank you SO much, this is a very useful and easy to understand tutorial.
Great job in illustrating and explaining this procedure! I have struggled with this for weeks, even with Tech Support from Apple!! and you made it easy to follow. Thank you!
Very easy to understand and your ability to show it step by step was extra great. Thanks

Thanks for the tutorial, it made it a lot easier than just reading the steps on Itunes' website.
I actually watched your video yesterday and it was very helpful It was so much easier then what I thought it was going to be you did a good job at explaining it and illustrating it so thank you it was very helpful
Fantastic video. Transferred 300gb of music and it was a success....
Thank you so much for this. The last time I had issues with a new computer or having to restore my computer from a back up, I couldn't find anything or anyone to explain this to me. It was a nightmare. But I followed your steps and my music is there complete with my play count which I particularly like.
Thank you very much for your help dude. Your other video has exactly what I needed. You've earned yourself a new subscriber. Keep up the good work!

thanks for replying, like i said before i dropped my old computer and lost everything all i have is my ipod i just got a new computer and im following your instructions but my question is do i first download itunes into my new computer and if so after i plug the ipod wont i get a window telling me if i sync i will loose all my songs,i havent done anything yet i want to make sure first because in your tutorial you already have itunes on your computer, thanks its people like u that make a diference
Thank you for your useful tutorial
Thanks so much for replying. itunes is located in a different folder on the old computer and the new computer. Could that be causing the problem?
does this also work for new models and for a transfer from mac to windows?
if yes big thanks to you nick

Thank you!
Thank you so much Nick! Very clear step by steps.

what about using a usb transfer cable? Have you tried that? If so, how does that work. Thanks!
Thank you, you really saved me from pain.
that helped me out a lot, cheers dude appreciate it
brilliant, simple tutorial that worked for me. thank you so much.
Cheers for the tutorial, did the trick nicely!
Only thing I might have you add as a possible 'side bar' is if someone is transferring an original ITunes library from an original PC into another PC or laptop that may already have part of an ITunes library.....what actions should be done. Thanks!
this is an amazing video great work. you really helped me out
Excellent work mate, it worked at treat for me👍🏼
Thanks for this video. Helped a lot!
How did u have the copy and past from ur old computer to ur new computer?? Would you have to copy from the removable disk u just put in?
USB Flash Drive.
Thank you so much! This made my transfer so much less painful!
Worked a treat. Thanks mate
if i consolidate all my music files can i delete the original ones? wouldnt consolidating double the amount of hard drive space being taken up on my computer?
