You don't need to use alt at all. Right clicking and copying does the same exact thing. If your songs aren't all in a folder, you can click the top song in the list, hold shift, and click the bottom song in the list. That'll highlight all of them and you can right click/copy.
Either your music is not MP3, your sync isn't working, you are selectively syncing, or you did the process incorrectly. If you cannot sync (in general) you should contact Apple support (after you try rebooting your device and your computer). I cannot really help you solve your syncing issues beyond this advice.
