    This is probably my favorite Southern song and nobody does that better than Charlie Daniels. He did this one in 1979 when I was 28. When Charlie Daniels died, Vince Gill sang "Go Rest High on that Mountain" for him. I was tickled when I saw you doing this one and knew you'd love it. Look up some of Jim Croce's work - Photographs and Memories, Operator, my favorite of his, Time in a Bottle, I'll Have to Say I Love You In a Song.

    Who else remembers gymnast Dominique Moceanu doing her floor routine to this song in 1996 at the Olympics in Atlanta? Perfect idea-as soon as they heard the first few notes, the crowd erupted! Of course she nailed it, and was part of the Magnificent Seven, the first US gymnastics team to win team gold. ❤

    If you don't know the difference between a violin and a fiddle, a violin has strings, and a fiddle has strangs. Rip Charlie. He is a true genius. This was released before the first official rap song. Charlie wasn't truly country, he was able to cross into several different genres. Same as Dolly. Check out her collaboration with PTX on Jolene.

      @SaeedReacts. Dolly is an absolute gem. My dad, who played violin as a child, and his 2 younger grandchildren also played. He told me about a late night show where the host had Charlie and some famous violisnist who made some comment that Charlie couldn't play "real" music, so Charlie picked up his fiddle and played a famous classic piece, no music sheets around. I have spent hours trying to find it. Dad couldn't remember which show, and he passed away, so I can't ask.
      Charlie doesn't really fit into any specific genre. But his storytelling ability. He passed away in 2020. He was a great entertainmer. There is a sequel to this song, with several other artists. It's called the devil went back to Georgia. Enjoy!

    • @vladyvhv9579
      @vladyvhv9579 21 день тому

      Fiddle and violin are the same instrument, physically. It's just tuned differently and fiddle music tends to be much more energetic and fast-paced, while violin is more slow and somber. My grandpa played fiddle and gave his to my uncle's wife when they married. For many years, she played it as violin in her church's orchestra.

    I learned the lyrics to this when it first came out - and I can still sing along! You’ll find some of the best storytellers in country music, and also some absolutely fabulous musicians. What comes to mind is Harper Valley PTA, Sunday Morning Coming Down and He Stopped Loving Her Today as far as story songs. I’m sure others, who know country music much better than I do, will have other examples. Love this song and loved your reaction to it. Peace …

      Check and see if the local stations have means of weighing in on what they play. Cause there's still a lot of country that's got that. Particularly in the Red Dirt sub-genera, which is getting back more to the 70s-early 90s feel.

Charley Daniel's was a great storyteller, and this song will get you shaking your head and dancing in your chair. Charley once said "The difference between a Fiddle and a Violin is a Violin has strings..a Fiddle has strangs" just a different accent for the same instrument that he could play the heck out of. So glad you reacted to it and enjoyed a legend. May he rest in peace. Thank you and enjoy your day. ❤😊

    This was such an amazing reaction! This was also my first time watching your channel and you’re wonderful. As a writer myself, I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it at 6 years old, sitting in the backseat of an old car on my way to grandmas house. I hung on every word, I was wrapt within the story like I was right there watching it - but I was super worried for Johnny because I kinda thought the Devil wiped the floor with him at the time 😂 it’s a moment I’ll never forget - and watching you have a very similar experience not only made my day, but it made me feel all warm and nice inside. Thank you so so much for sharing this with all of us and for making my day way better. Absolutely subscribing, of course 😊

      @@kanditraxel Best wishes. Remember too that Vietnam Vets were treated poorly by the left in the US. Many openly supported the enemy whom the US was fighting, like Jane Fonda, Angela Davis, and many college kids. Your uncle did what his country asked. That is a big thing.

      @kanditraxel 24 дні тому

      @willieboy3011 Yeah, I don't think your "left" comments were necessary. My son in law is in the Air Force and my daughter is a veteran. Both are left and have signed on that dotted line to give everything for this country.

    • @willieboy3011
      @willieboy3011 24 дні тому

      @@kanditraxel I am stating facts. Vietnam veterans were treated badly by the left. Many veterans were spit upon and called baby killers by leftists. Journalist Bob Greene documented many Vietnam Veteran's experiences about this in his book "Homecoming." Jane Fonda flew over to socialize with the very enemy NVA who was fighting our soldiers. This is documented. Look it up. Many of the leftist students wore Communist dictator's t shirts in support of the enemy: Mao, Ho Chi Ming, Che, etc. I was around then and saw this. Check it out for yourself. I too signed on that dotted line to support America, not her enemies.

    Oh my..an oldie but goodie...yee-haa 👍😁... my family came from Georgia..both sides... I was raised in North Florida and Southern Georgia at different times and a short stay in Louisiana..so fiddles were used in a lot of music..in fact in 5th grade my teacher asked if I could join the music group after hearing me tickle the ivories during a reccess break...well pianos were out of our financial budget so dad got me a violin 😮...as we were in a home with multiple family relatives..my learning violin wasn't their cup of tea..the next year dad let music class slip 😄...then the following year he got me a second (or third) hand piano after we moved to our own private home...
    Since my short stint with a stringed instrument.. I can well appreciate Charlie's gift with the bow...good on you for adding this legend to your catalog...
    If you're looking for stories try this fella..Sir Tom Jones..yes knighted by Queen Elizabeth..and if you do listen I would recommend them in this order to hear the trifecta unfold...
    💥... I'll Never Fall In Love Again
    💥...I Who Have Nothing
    💥... Delilah
    Basically I would call him a crooner in his most powerful songs but the number of writers that brought their works to him created a large and complex catalog so beyond these 3 you'll hear a wide variety..and he even had a Variety Show in his name..This Is Tom Jones...
    So please consider adding him to your list if you haven't heard him..the first live from the Ed Sullivan Show and the next 2 from his show if I remember correctly...I didn't see him in your playlist..and DO these 3 in order 🙏..lol...
    Have a wonderful morning Saeed...

    Hi Saeed! If you like story songs, you really should listen to Harry Chapin, an American singer-songwriter who tragically died in a car accident in 1981 at the age of 38. His most famous song is "Cat's In The Cradle," but some of his other great story songs are "Mr. Tanner," "Flowers Are Red," "The Rock," "Taxi," a funny one called "Dance Band On The Titanic," and my all-time favorite song of his, "Corey's Coming." So beautiful! Hope you like them! 😁
