I am Colombian and we appreciate the music of the world, you can see these Mexican mariachis playing all those instrument without reading any music and Linda's amazing performansen makes you almost cry.
What a set of pipes! She was clearly the most talented female vocalist on the planet until her voice was taken away! What a terrible loss for the world! Thank goodness we have all of her beautiful recordings and videos. I love her music and have enjoyed your reactions to her. Please continue with more. 🥰🌺✌️
QUE BONITO ES HERMOSA ... LA CIGARRA ES UN INSECTO ... QUE EN TIEMPO DE CALOR , SE PEGA A LOS ÁRBOLES Y EMITE UN SONIDO... Y MUERE EMITIENDO ESE SONIDO ... TAMBIÉN SE LE CONOCE COMO " CHICHARRA "
She said she was a fan of Lola Beltran since childhood and they have a duet live. Look it up. Plus, a cicada is like a cricket, that makes its sound in summer or when a heatwave/rain or bad weather is coming. So they're "bad omen" for some, depending on how you see it.
Linda could quite honestly be credited as the top Hispanic recording artist of all time. People just didn’t know it until she forced her record company to release and she heavily promoted her album of song of her father.
Linda comes from one of the original ranching families in Arizona , Tucson area , in fact she lives on the ranch today in the Tucson mountain range . Yes she is part Mexican .
I believe she lives in the San Francisco area, in California and has for many years. Yes, she is from Arizona originally. She moved to Los Angeles at a young age and has spent most of her life in California.
When Linda was asked about who were her primary influences, her first was her idol, Lola Beltran ❤ There's video of them performing together ❤ you should check it out if you haven't already!
Cigarra is a cicada in english... their life cycle is about 17 years. When they emerge by the millions the sound is almost deafening. Late at night they get a rythm to their singing that puts you to sleep, but some find it very annoying.
I know I already commented before but I have a question for you. In her other video from this same show (La Charreda), you said you could tell this was not her native language. To me, her Spanish sounds impeccable, but I come from a place of ignorance because I don’t speak Spanish. How can you hear her American accent through her singing? I cannot even hear the Beatles British accents in their songs😂. Just curious. 🥰🌺✌️
I'm Mexican and love Mariachi music. The way she's singing the songs is in the original arrangement. This is the way these songs became classics. These songs are full of emotion, passion, very expressive, the instruments in the mariachi band sets everything up. Linda's pronunciation of the words in these songs is like 99.9 % correct. Let's say a song is 300 words, in 1 word she mispronounces 1 vowel in a word (not the whole word). So unless you're looking for it, you won't notice. Singer's do it all the time, even in their 1st language. Linda's voice is amazing singing in spanish. In her 3 albums Canciones de mi Padre, Mas Canciones, and Frenesi her delivery is full bodied, great emotion, firm, really compliments the song and the musicians (Mariachi). A lot of mexican singers have sang with Mariachi Vargas before, but sadly they usually do a half ass, so so job (they kinda do a pop version of it). The only mexican female singers that can actually sing Mariachi music are Lola Beltran, and Lucha Villa (They both had very unique strong voices. I would say that of all the mexican mariachi singers: (covering last 120 years) At the Top Level (male) there's 10 guys At the Top Level (female) there's Linda, Lola Beltran, and Lucha Villa at a very distant Level 2 there's a lot male and female singers. Is kinda like when accomplished singers record the nobody-wants Christmas Album (maybe only their fans). Accomplished mexican singers do an album with a Mariachi. Very Sad.
There are certain words that sound weird to the native speaker, lets just say that You notice shes being careful with the pronunciation and thus sounds fake, however it's only on a few Words, she had a very good pronunciation of mexican spanish and the right technique to sing mariachi songs.
@@arturoducati Thanks for a great post! The only defect I can find in her pronunciation (the 0,01%) is that she consistently overemphasizes the hard r, the rr (as in cigarra) 👏👏👏
Linda is simply the GOAT! She can perform anything. Check out some of her performances of American classics such as Skylark arranged by the great Nelson Riddle.

Hi everybody this reaction is for the song "La Cigarra" by Linda Ronstadt thanks for your request
She learned the craft of Mariachi music through Lola Beltran.
When Linda was asked about who were her primary influences, her first was her idol, Lola Beltran ❤

LA CIGARRA is THE CICADA ... and that insect is very loud, they sing their song even as they come to the end of their lives.

I'm Mexican and love Mariachi music.

la cigarra es una pajarita que canta (it's a bird)
So sad she can't sing now anymore...she has Parkinson's and said she can't sing anymore...such a great voice. She could sing any type music.
La Cigarra is the cicada.
cigarras is a mormon cricket

Cicada!en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cicada
It’s a cicada, I believe.
👍👍
In English melancholy is more “a period of sadness”
Listen to "La Charreada"
It's a dragon fly
una cigarra es un ave y segun las creencias de la cultura mexicana es un ave de mal agüero y de eso habla un poco esa canción
