Paco was out of contest... He's the greatest guitar man of all time, that's just a matter of fact.
Paco doesn't deserve to be ranked. He's above all of them, despite of him being extremly humble. He was more a family man than a superstar. He would trade a collab in exchange for some sweet melons from the next village.
Paco de Lucía never needed to be on that list....he will always be in the hearts of the Spanish people, which is more important than anything.

Paco de Lucia, es el mejor de todos los tiempos, me crie escuchando Heavy Metal, me considero Metalero (Metal Head), no reconocer que Paco es uno de los mejores guitarristas de todos los tiempos es como querer tapar con un dedo al sol y nose si no es el mejor... el dominio que tiene sobre la guitarra Criolla es un espectaculo. ¿Que és eso de la guitarra criolla? la guitarra que toca Paco de Lucía és la guitarra española de toda la vida seguramente hecha para sus grandisímas aptitudes, ya que para mí y para muchisima gente és el mejor guitarrista de la historia. Y sí alguien piensa lo contrario que aporte pruebas de una grabacion en directo como esta. Seguramente en tu ignorancia crees que esta guitarra fué creada por los argentinos o criollos, pués no, a hispanoamerica igual que la rueda, caballos, mulos, cultivo de agricultura, universidades, hospitales, caminos, puertos, astilleros y muchas cosas más fueron llevadas por los españoles.

Tranquilos. Se denomina así a la guitarra de este tipo, no eléctrica, no acústica.
No es una ofensa a lo español.
De la misma manera que decir ensalada rusa es inexacto, pero no ofende la cocina rusa
Es una guitarra española, pues su origen está aquí en españa. Existen dos tipos:
guitarra clásica: se busca un sonido limpio y definido.
Guitarra flamenca: se busca que el sonido rompa (sature, distorsione) a volúmenes altos, y que trastee.
No es una guitarra criolla, no.
Hace muchos años asistí a un concierto de Al di Meola, Santana y Paco de Lucía. Flipamos todos, los dos primeros también
tengo un dvd en G3 de esos maquinas , te lo pasarías de locos eh!

Well, you should know that he is improvising 75% of this piece in the sense that he is changing many phrases as the song goes staying in tune all along. Listen to the studio one and compare, you’ll see what I’m talking about.
One thing about this particular piece is that you’ll never hear the same song twice when watching his live performances and there are many in YT.
I was lucky enough to see him once before his passing a few years ago. Too soon… but he’ll live forever.

I was a teenager when visiting my family in Isla Cristina, Huelva, and went for a walk with my relatives near the beach and began listening to this piece . One of my cousins recognized Maestro Paco de Lucia with another guitarist playing the accompaniment. It's an unforgettable moment in my life. He was a very humble and wonderful person! Entre dos Aguas was an improvisation he created in the recording studio when he finished making the production and noticed he needed one more piece! He started playing this, and it became the actual main hit!

Paco is more than a legend for spanish people and this song is fantastic. I think a lot of spanish we grew up with this song playing at our parents' turntables. Probably Paco was the best guitar player ever. You have to read his biography when he spente hours and hours every day playing guitar since he was a little kid. He was veeeeeery critic and perfectionist with himself.
His talent and skills are beyond incredible, I can understand why he is so legendary!!!

Y cuando le daba a las obras clásicas para guitarra era el acabose, siendo el culmen su interpretación del Concierto de Aranjuez del maestro Rodrigo de tal calidad que tanto el autor como Andrés Segovia (el mejor intérprete de guitarra en música clásica) coincidían que era la mejor interpretación de la obra en la historia.

I was lucky enough to hear him in no less than 10 live concerts and in others accompanying the legend Camarón de la Isla. Have no doubt that he was a genius and giant of universal music that can be equaled but never surpassed.

The piece with which Paco de Lucía became world famous, “Entre dos aguas”, was, paradoxically, the only one in his entire career that he created by chance. It was in the studios of the Polygram record company in 1973. Paco was recording "Fuente y caudal", his first great revolutionary album after others in which he appealed to tradition, and he had taken great care of the work, composing it for months.
But when the recording was finished, the producer, José Torregrosa, told him that one track was missing to complete the vinyl. Paco had no choice but to improvise from a rumba that he had more or less already outlined, but that was still stuck on pins and needles. In his own official guides he assures that it was "a filler issue."

When Al Di Meola and McLaughlin invited Paco to play jazz with them, he didn't really get the song's key and ended up playing a Greek scale for each note in the songs Meola and McLaughlin suggested. In a documentary, he mentioned he almost went crazy, literally - like his head was going to explode - and he realized how much of geniuses Meola and McLaughlin were... until he learned how to read the song keys in a grouped way. Once he explained his transition up to that point... it all made sense, and it was clear there was one standout genius in those three chairs.

I recommend reading about his life. He said he hated the guitar, because his father made him learn and practice for hours ever since he was a little kid and he could be quite harsh. He didn't have a childhood because he was forced to devote it to guitar playing. He said the only place he felt at ease was diving. Quite a story. One of the absolute greats.

La limpieza en la ejecución de Paco es increible. Todas y cada una de las notas suenan limpias, nitidas, reconocibles, no hay ni un solo ruido de los dedos subiendo o bajando por el mástil, salvo alguna imprecisión y alguna nota que se ha saltado... CASI PERFECTO.
