BL, your passion brings me to tears brother. Your knowledge is so valuable. Thank you, for not getting bitter towards those who have sold out. True Champion.
Our culture started in the very early 60's and solidified in 1968 with the 4th Worlds that took place here, in Puerto Rico, at Rincón waves. Thank You for the kind words for our Country.
Great show as always BL. I watched every second of the event last year and this year. You were great as always. I must say the waves (or a lack thereof) on day 5 this year was a big disappointment. It just doesn't do anyone any justice to have athletes lose their Olympic dreams paddling around in slop. ISA had time and should have waited to run some of those heats. Of course "someone" has to win even in slop, duh, but that's not the point. It's also just not right that out of the top 8 finishers from last year and this year a couple of medal winners are still locked out of the Olympics. Again, I know it's "the rules" and I'm very up to speed on the qualification process (unlike so many others out there) but "rules" are meant to be changed. Instead of ISA being laser focused on "including" athletes that finished 20 spots lower than Sally for example, just because they're from "wherever", maybe ISA should first ensure that if you do win a medal at the ISA's (eg 2023 & 2024) then you are guaranteed a spot. THEN, after that, ISA can systematize the "inclusion" beyond that point. Having surfers forced to participate in a competition they can't even ultimately win, (even if they "win"), like was the case in 2023 for ALL of the "Americas" athletes (notwithstanding the eventual anomaly of Alan going via Jordy's spot of course), and then again as it turned out for Sally in 2024, is just is not the way. Something definitely needs to change. Anyway, I know this is all spilt milk at this point, and it will all get bulldozed over by the hype of the Olympics and who "did" make it, but this all still needs some flushing out before next cycle imho. Cheers!
Appreciate your contribution to the conversation as always, I think they are pretty consistent in looking for the opportunities to improve, i have that faith.
rules of engagement: 1 thing i would love the surfing world to learn would be the paddle out snake... when someone new hits the line up and immediately takes the next set wave from the inside position... at reef and points this seems to happen an awful lot
Yeah happens all the time at Sunset Point where I surf, they just paddle straight to your inside, take the wave, paddle back out straight to the inside and do it over and over and it drives me mad. We gotta get the rules out there because the new breed never learnt it from anyone.
Hey Barton what was that junior contest you were in years ago at Fairy Bower , I think you won it , correct me if I'm wrong , but I have some happy memories of that time , So what contest and what year please , man I think it was years ago hey
Good show BL and PK! Learned learned alot about the ISA and the qualification process for the olympics. BL i have a question: what if they end up holding it in maxing conditions? Proper 10+ with some sets that are tow only. Are they really gonna send out team ukraine for example? Mahalo in advance!
Thanks brother, all the surfers who have qualified are excellent surfers and there are no people who cant handle, but that said if people cant go because it is too big and dangerous I see that as a good thing because it will truly show the world how gnarly surfing is.
It just seems wrong that Sally Fitz can’t get a wild card into the Olympics. She won! She’s got four medals and she’s the first one to do that. Seems wrong that WSL competitors gets that advantage that she missed out on last year. Another great show, thanks guys.
Filling a niche that is sadly lacking in WokeSurfleague , have Surfer’s lost their way from the early day’s of rebellion? ISF is the future , bring the tribe together 🙏🏻
Yes mate the culture has lost its way for certain, owned by multi national corporations and largely pushing woke ideology and its so distant from what we were, thanks.
I prayed for you BL that you'll find Father/Mother God, Christ Jesus, and The Holy Spirit! Otherwise, Satan would be glad to have you on his very dark team...There' no time for sitting on the fence! Choose a side very soon! Amen! Amen! So Be It! So Be it...WWG1WGA
The golden rule for comintating is, or should be, when someone catches a wave, stop talking about whatever and give a comintary of the wave being ridden which is something that Jesse Mendes seems to be the only one capable of at the moment.
If only the powers that be at WSL had half BLs passion and knowledge. They made a complete mess, now they've stuck their head in the sand. They have no clue about surfing and surf culture. Their egos won't allow them to heed good advice

If the waiting period at Teahuopoo is XXL, will they tow.....?
No will only be paddle power.

BL i have a question: what if they end up holding it in maxing conditions? Proper 10+ with some sets that are tow only. Are they really gonna send out team ukraine for example? Mahalo in advance!
Excellent question. They’ll join a long list of Olympic deaths whether in training or competition.
Rather, will they send out the women, whose surfing is astonishingly inferior in all conditions, but especially in waves of any consequence.
Thanks brother, all the surfers who have qualified are excellent surfers and there are no people who cant handle, but that said if people cant go because it is too big and dangerous I see that as a good thing because it will truly show the world how gnarly surfing is.
@JeremiahAlphonsus I don't think, no I know, Pickles will charge it, she's not frightened of Shipsterns

Juan Ashton from Puerto Rico has 4 golds in ISA Masters Worlds, way before Sally. FYI
Yes I agree but the rules are the same for everyone but she deserves it for sure.
Yeah amazing great surfer but we are talking about the Open division, I am sure there are other multiples in other disciplines they run.,@@avionesboys

Did you ser Tom Curren trying tô make Joe Turpell pay attention and narrate the wsves? He essa completely ignoring the action
The Golden rule for surfing is narration when there is a set coming., It needs tô be done
!00% the rule for me.
Would love Kelly in the games. His longevity just missed out, bummer.
Yeah we would all love to see him there.
