    I had food poisoning once at a McDonald's in Saskatoon. The ironic thing is while I was at the hospital a doctor asked me which McDonald's I ate at, and apparently they had 7 other people who were also sick from the same restauraunt. So they shut them down for a week to clean house, but they were up and running again. I guess someone has to die for them to really take it as a threat to public safety.

      People can cry and whine all they want about something being healthy or unhealthy but the truth is ALL of our ancestors rose to this state we are now in by eating lots of meat and fat, and they made sure to have a daily dose of vitamin C from natural sources usually Scurvey grass for us of European and Ancient Americas decent. veggies and grains were not there or part of the diet, not until people started living in cities, it seems health problems began then at least on the very large scale, most modern humans have a hard time processing this fact about us humans, lots of meat and fat and exercise makes a healthy human

    As a former manager of Burger King of 3 years, I would like to state that Burger King grill marks are real, and caused by the chain in the broiler. Burger King also had a LOT more calories and the such in their beef because it's 100% beef. No fillers, no preservatives. still didn't really make it any less healthy, lol

      BK burgers are a 100 times better than McD's. McD's burgers are the blandest burgers I've ever had......and I used to like them just fine, but these days, it's like eating moist cardboard. No flavor.
      I prefer Wendys or Hardees, but I go to BK once in awhile. I really burned out on BK several years ago. Actually, I'd say Culvers is the best burger. It's super moist, fresh, cheesy/greasy and they burn the edges just right every time. It's a little pricey, but a combo is still cheaper than 5 guys, about $9.

    I went to a McDonalds once as a kid and ordered the chicken sandwich. As a kid, when I used to eat at McDonald’s, this was my favorite meal. One day however, I bit into my sandwich and noticed a large pocket of white, watery...goo. It was oddly shaped and tasted terrible. I took it to the front to ask what it was and the guy there said that it was most likely chicken cancer. As a kid, I was so mortified by this that I dropped McDonald’s altogether. As an adult, I realize the employee was most likely lying, but I’m honestly still grateful as he saved me from eating more of those disgusting meals.

    I work at a smoothie shop. If your smoothie is bubbling, it's not a smoothie. Also, here's something they don't want you to know at smoothie places. Some raw juices are made from very fresh ingredients, but about 25% of them will be made with 1 or 2 ingredients that were clinging on to the last few minutes of their freshness. The juices we use as a base for our smoothies are extremely sugar filled (for some smoothie places). Ask if the 'juice' for the smoothie is juiced fresh or comes in a box/bag. To cut down on sugar in a smoothie at any smoothie place, ask for half of the base to be water. Also, if they use yogurt or sherbet in them, ask for light or no yogurt or sherbet.
    If the smoothie place has an item where no juice or water is being used, but instead it's just raw fruits and veggies put into a blender to make a drink, that's likely the healthiest thing on the menu. When you juice fruits and veggies instead of blend them together in a blender, you lose the skin which holds most of the vitamins your body needs.

    I used to work at Burger King and the grill marks are real (actual visible flames in the grill we cooked them on) the fries are fresh, the bread is fresh, the vegetables are in containers, but they never ever mix the old ones with the new ones, they always threw away returned food and if something (even ketchup packets) touched the floor they would be thrown away immediately.

      That's the reason why SUBWAY is better .Because they give you more vegetables in your Subs. Beside it doesn't worth paying so much for these unhealthy craps from Burger King and McDonald.

    • @creationsmaxo
      @creationsmaxo 7 років тому +1

      Subway is better is you don't take any processed meat nor sauce in your subs. Those have really high amount of salt in them. As a matter of fact, a "regular" subs without any sauce nor meat has approx. 280mg of salt alone for a 6". That's on a 162g subs. If you take the BMT, it's 1260mg of salt (1.2x that of a Big Mac). A regular Club Subs is 840mg. (all those are for 6").
      It would be a lot better (and maybe cheaper) to make your own subs anyway.
      3$ for the breads, 5$ for the meat and maybe around 4$ for the content... and you got like 3x or 4x (6") subs.

    The thing about KFC is fake. KFC doesn't even use chicken grease to make the gravy. It's water and powder. I work there

    • @web1956head
      @web1956head 7 років тому +19

      It is true, you get the powdered product, you have no idea what they do to it prior to the powder crap being made, plus the salt that's all people basically can taste since it's loaded with it. I don't know if they do it to hide what's in it or to dehydrate people.
      The actual chickens used are caged in horrible conditions, killed in very cruel ways you couldn't imagine. End result is you eat an oversized salt filled chicken that released toxic fear into the meat when killed...then it's covered in so many chemicals and breading, deep fried in usually old grease and people wonder why they are sick. If you trust any fast food or restaurant as your source of food, you may as well eat plastic, it has just as much nutrition. If you've never seen a place that raises, kills and packs meats, I suggest you take a tour. The workers in these fast food and restaurants may be doing what they feel is right, but they don't know what goes on prior to getting the foods. I do know that I've heard kids say that work in these places... they've put rats in the grease, live ones, at least until they hit the grease. I've heard all the disgusting stories possible but know their are more than even I don't know. So, good luck, fast food eaters. Dr. Oz is a joke, but there are good people out there finding the real truth about ALL foods. carnicominstitute.org healthranger.com and many more. maybe it's worth your life to find out?

    I worked for BK and McD as a crew first, then manager in the late 80's to the mid 90's.
    I've got stories.
    The most obvious one is people picking buns off the floor after they fell.
    It is true that if you order fries w/o salt, you get freshies. I've seen the (then) 30 minute nugget cabinet holding time get reset. I've seen mops rinsed out in the same sink as the one getting trays, etc. washed. I've seen people spit in food. I saw someone fart into a bun and use it. As a crew, i didn't report stuff, but as manager of course i spoke up. I've seen people scratch themselves and not wash their hands. I saw cashiers handle money, then put their hand all over the bags of fries that were packed for rush hour. I can still picture it. Ewww. Money fries! I saw pork sausage patties fried in the same vat as fries. A big no-no.

    As a former BK employee I can say that the one near the end about grill lines is definitely false, at least for Burger King. They use a flame broiler grill, and while it's automated and has gas flames, the lines are still 110% real.
    We also had to clean our soda machine nightly and even ran cleaning solvent through it and rinsed it thoroughly, so that part is mostly false too.
    The rest of the facts in this I honestly thought were just common knowledge for the most part lol

We got inspected by the FDA, every month. We never failed. I went to a McD's and glanced at their milkshake and ice cream machine. I could see old dried milk all over it. In all honesty, fast food restaurants are cleaner on health inspections than nearly all "good" restaurants. That monotonous, strict standardization does have benefits. Now where the food comes from is another entirely disgusting matter, but McD, Subway and the like do maintain clean premises. Hell, everything's frozen until 30 minutes before you eat it and there are almost no dishes, always some dude pushing a mop around, not a real breeding ground..

      You didn't have food poisoning. Maybe food intoxication, but not food poisoning. Food poisoning = you consumed a bacteria and it really fucked your world up. Food intoxication = you ate toxic bacterial shit/piss and got sick for a few hours.

    • @matts1166
      @matts1166 7 років тому +1

      In that episode of wife swap they got sick because they were not used to fried food, which they ate a shit-ton of. This phenomenon can also be seen when Chinese tourists visit the US. In actuality a restaurant is about 20% as likely to give you food poisoning than food you prepare in your own home, since food in a restaurant gets rotated out so frequently.

    • @onyxtay7246
      @onyxtay7246 7 років тому

      Restaurants are also really clean, because even if an inspector isn't going to come having people report food poisoning is bad for both the individual restaurant, and the franchiser. McDonalds wouldn't like looking bad because of a bad restaurant, so they likely have strict rules for food safety. (I haven't worked at McDonalds, but I work at a fast food place, where the rules are very strict.)

    • @sdne1959

      .
      Hmmm.....I think "really clean" might be an overstatement.....while I've no doubt McDonald's and other fast food chains work hard at keeping most SURFACES clean LOOKING, if a bio-hazard team were to go into ANY of those establishments, I have NO doubt they could find enough germs (in both variety and quantity) to sicken just about anyone. Similar to the coliform (found in 48% of ALL drink machines) and e. coli (found in more than 10% of ALL soda machines) bacteria that they mention in this video showing up in/on the soft drink machines....

    An interesting tidbit. In the late 1960's my grade-school class took a field trip to a local fast food restaurant. I don't remember its name and think the chain is no longer in business, but it was something like a Wendys or the early McD's before indoor eating space was installed. I remember how they made their fries and they used actual potatoes and had a small hand operated machine similar to the aluminum can crushers you see today, but with a slotted bottom to cut the fry shapes.

      There are many places in the world where fast food is new and chains have just opened, we still don't have McDonald's here, but a few Burger Kings opened a couple of years ago, the first fast food here was Lucky Burger back in 2006 then KFC back in 2011 or so.

    I watched SuperSizeMe late one night, directly after it ended, I drove Mc Donalds at arriving at Midnight and ate 2 big Mac's. Fast forward 6 months, I was addicted to them, seriously! I was waiting inside Mc Donalds every single day, hanging out, waiting for the menu change over at lunch time. Eventually, the Macca's manager refused to sell me the daily dose of Big Mac Meals and the only way I could get them was to also order a salad and water. I actually ended up getting very, very unwell. Even after I changed my diet, it took several years to become well again. I still love Big Macs but only very occasionally.

      A paste just made out of meat is just expensive for them to produce, so adding all this extra "flavour", for example, will result in a 5kg of food, instead of 1.5kg.

      Disturbed 101 In Pennsylvania there are Sheetz convenience stores everywhere. They used to have a policy that the employees could eat any of the items that were beyond the freshness date. Turns out that the employees mad an excessive amount of food that would have to be thrown out after freshness date. Thus the employees were taking the food and passing it on to other than employees. Corporate Greed dictated that the way to make more money was to trash the excessive amount of over made food thus giving the employees no further reason to over produce the food items. This decreased costs and increased revenue. So the real answer is Corporate Greed.

When he was an inspector for food safety at grocery stores he would go to the back of the store and see how many of the food handlers still had their gloves on while they were smoking and eating. A lot of his write ups were for taking breaks or going to the bathroom without changing the gloves! Gloves don't make more sanitary conditions, they just made the customer feel better.

      Fast food tends to have very strict rules for employees. Sometimes people won't follow them, but those people tend to get fired, because the company doesn't want to get sued, and the franchiser doesn't want to look bad. It's not that healthy, but that isn't the fault of poor hygiene.

    the whole thing about the Macdonald fires being partially cooked then being frozen and shipped off is not uncommon at all (minus the freezing bit) it is a practice used by millions of restaurants(not fast food) it is know as par baking, it is only used for fries and doesn't actually invoke baking. the basis is to have the fries fully cooked but not crispy

    • @bobbyclemente21

    I actually moved the equipment for a McDonald's franchise owner that had 5 of the places during a renovation he was doing in all of them.
    I got to see the operations first hand and I must say I was impressed.
    All the equipment were on rollers with large electrical plug in lines.
    It made moving the machinery for cleaning very easy along with the floors.
    Cleanliness was top priority, when we moved the equipment I was expecting really greasey stuff but that was not the case.
    Now I know eating fast food is not good for you but if you are inclined I would trust McD's not to kill me with food poisoning and I can fairly be certain that anywhere on this planet I could walk in and get something to eat without going to an ER for my efforts.
    As a side note the grills used for the burgers had timers on them.
    They weighed a ton and had 2 flat inch thick heated plates that came down together and squashed that burger while grilling it.
    Cook time for the Big Mac was 73 seconds and for a single burger was 39 secs.
    It required 2 hands to engage the action, wouldn't want my hand in there.

    I got food poisoning from a fish sandwich at Hardee's, it was under the heat lamp for 4 or 5 hours probably. I also got food poisoning from Long John Silver's, fresh fish my ass, I was puking and shitting for a day and a half. Cook it yourself folks, the ramifications can be painful, and even deadly.

They looked the same as if I bought them at that very Moment. I was shocked. I had to take a Pic and Post it. Really Makes you think about what you are eating when you eat out.

      1) Taste good.
      2) Cheap.
      3) Convenient for a lot of people..
      4) Not everyone lives with their mum.
      5) They do give you free water (Here at least) ... But you have to pay if you want bottles.

    I would like to correct one of these points made, the one about coffee having cleaning chemicals in it at the start of the day. This may be true, but if you go to a specialty coffee shop, the baristas, when they turn the machine on in the morning do a process called dialing in. This ensures the coffee is running out of the machine properly as per their training, and it also ensures that any residual chemicals are flushed out with the first few coffee shots. These shots are not consumed for this reason and are discarded.
    In follow up to this. The nest time to get a coffee from a coffee shop is around 2-3 hours after the cafe has opened, as the machine and coffee grinder will be properly warmed up from use and will be producing a more consistent and tasty coffee.

    People moan at fast food companies for not throwing out food on and then complain because they throw away too much food? They may not be the most ethical companies but holding them to a ridiculous standard and just complaining about everything they do seems pretty pointless to me. Also you are supposed to re-use fryer oil as it adds to the flavour, you are even supposed to use the same oil for different foods to get a lot of different flavours in there, i'm not saying its healthy but it creates some amazing tastes.

    I used to work at Wendy's right after I graduated high school. Since I was 18 that meant I got to work the grill, the chicken fryer and the meat grinder!
    First, let me just say that after working there a couple weeks, the only thing on the menu I'd eat besides the salad was the chicken. It's fried in a pressure cooker type device that positively destroys anything like bacteria.
    The chili on the other hand is made from all the reject burgers.
    If you are flipping a burger and it breaks, it goes in the chili bucket. If a customer changes their mind about that cheeseburger, you scrape most of the cheese off and toss it in the chili bucket. If it gets to the end of a rush and you have a row of burgers that has been marinating in grease for 10 minutes, into the bucket.
    If it hits the floor, into the bucket.
    That meat is then added to the chili base mix and cooked for an hour or so before it's sold to you. Reject meat chili!

      Not in McDonald's or Burger King or Wendy's like in other countries. I think you might be able to get one at a gas station convenience store, like from a Slurpee machine at 7-11 or something. I remember having them as a child but they're not as common as they are in some other countries.

    McDonalds use a food supplier called 100%. They are able to legally say their burgers meat content is100% because of this, even though that would actually be a steak. Same with the chicken nuggets being 100% chicken - its not the percentage of chicken but the supplier.

      Beefburgers are not 100% beef in their make-up. They consist of onion, breadcrumbs, seasonings too. Those additions alone would automatically render the beefburger less than 100% meat. Not to mention McDonalds are not juicy or tasty. So I for one, am suspicious of the Snopes report link.

    The burger not aging is indeed because of loss of moisture. Tests have been done to show that you can do this with a normal burger and it doesn't always happen to mcdonald's burgers either. It's literally mummification.
