I had a professor from India and every time the department would order catering he would complain about the vegetarian option with good reason, it looked nowhere near as good as the vegetarian option in India.
Your comment is very nice..,.
I can agree with this. I eat Indian food frequently and noticed their veg options are equal to their meat options.
Western veg options are trash it’s just to please the ultra rich vegans who don’t even eat there they’ll just go to those ‘vegan restaurants’ which charge crazy

Food insider hit the jackpot with Nikhil as the host for Indian food. He does a really good job. I have one request and that is that you don't waste food by throwing it out after taking just one bite and instead cut off a piece from where you took the bite and offer it to someone who doesn't have food, it'll make that person's day and you wouldn't lose a thing.
I'm sure the crew shares the food and throws out what they can't eat.
The crew eats it the food doesn’t go to waste
Oh my god I thought the same but instead of biting in the first place just cut of bite size piece and have it . This way u can share with people even who are germophobe lol

I remember getting in line for a subway at Delhi int airport. there was a line of say 6 people of which, 4 were non-indians. I was getting late and the line seemed huge. I was also wondering why so many foreigners were eating vegetarian, then one of them got in the front and the cashier told him that the non-veg line was on the other side and then they looked up and spotted that they were standing in the vegetarian line. The entire queue moved and I got my sub in time for my flight. Fun times!

6:31 Chana is a smaller variety of chickpea, whereas dal/daal is called lentils in English. That aside, great video, and I really love Nikhil's sense of humour and style of presentation!
Nope, it's still chana dal, dal meaning lentil.
Let’s clear this confusion with the meaning of Dal. Dal is a generic term for dry legumes known as pulses. Typically dal is the source of protein in an Indian vegetarian meal. Lentils are a specific type of pulse, it’s masoor dal.
Regular dal recipe is a soup made up of Toor dal aka Pigeon Peas which is most commonly used across Indian subcontinent but not necessarily, and it might be mixed with different dals as well varying by the region, like pulses of lentils, mung beans, chick peas, kidney beans etc. and this soup is tempered in different spices like mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, and masalas (spice powder mixtures/seasonings) depending on the region/household/secret masala recipes.
You can literally have millions of different types of Dal recipes in India, and I’m not exaggerating, there’s just insane amount of permutation, combination in the ingredients and cooking methods that alter the taste. Hence, no dish will taste the same in two different Indian restaurants. ✌️🤙
@@rajuaditya1914 Incorrect. Chana is a type of chickpea and dal is lentil soup. Chickpeas are not lentils. Chana dal is a combination of the two, that does not mean that they are the same thing. The chana in Subway is definitely a type of chickpea and has nothing to do with dal.
@@NexSicarius What you are referring to is Kabuli Chana, which is different from Chana, which is a lentil.
At my home, Chana is what we call chole and the small, darker ones are the desi chana lol
Nikhil is crushing this series - love him!
Once again, the Indian menu is far superior to anything we get here in the West. No lie. Here in the UK I am forced to rotate between the Spicy Italian, the Meatball Marinara or the Steak and Cheese. Everything else on the UK menu looks rank. Bleurgh!

There are so many fast food chains that it would be amazing to have in India.
huh now that sounds good
Sounds so good 👍
They all come to India and become terrible! Wendys is terrible, Burger King and KFC tastes nothing like the original one abroad, but only McDs has managed to maintain their taste.
I always find it amusing how global fast food companies that started in NA, have amazing global menu's EXCEPT in NA where they started. I wish they would bring some of this menu back home, the NA fast food menu tends to be quite boring like I can't believe how many veggie options Subway India has meanwhile they are sooooo unhealthy here in NA, only 1 veggie option? COME ON how hard would it be to incorporate some of these ingredients over here? ;p
Your comment is very nice..,.
Bc NA loves everything fattening, salty and oversized when eating out for shock factor. But overtime those portions became the normal to consume
Well it's probably due to the number of vegetarians here. Even the Non vegetarians, most of them don't eat meat daily. It would be like 2 days of meat per a week. Also the vegetarian food in India tends to be on par with Non veg, so they kinda use them in fast food Ig. So we have many veg options.
It's because they have to compete with already existing food places in those countries. And McDonalds still failed in Vietnam .

The thing I miss the most about US Subway is their 'Creamy Sriracha' sauce. Not a single Indian sauce comes even close. Everything else is better at Subway India though, especially the vegetarian options.
There used to be this "Harissa sauce" in India that was available for a limited period of time, got discontinued probably coz nobody seemed to even know about it. That one, IMO, was the mother of all sauces in India. Savoury, creamy and with just the right amount of heat. Not like the common hot sauce that tastes like slightly hotter ketchup - too sweet for my liking.
@@smk6736 I've had it, and I still think the Creamy Sriracha in the US rules. Had more heat than the Harissa in India, and is perfectly creamy, just the way I like it. Gotta try both before you can make a fair comparison.

There's a common omelette in the U.S. called a "western omelette" that's originally from the western united states, and it's mostly unique for having bell peppers in it. So that's probably what "western" is referring to with the egg sandwich.
