I have been playing for over 50 years and gave lessons for 22 years. UA-cam just popped you on my TV. I am glad. You are a great teacher. Keep up the good work. I enjoyed your approach to teaching, I am never too old to hear it again.
Yup, thanks to you countless drummers are paying their way through college, dating above their level, finding nicer digs, driving cooler cars, improving the record collection, and making the alimony... We all say thanks
I've just returned to playing drums after a very long layoff. (30 years, lol). I determined I was going to start from scratch and focus on the areas I always struggled with, rudiments, hand control, dynamics, fills, etc. I absolutely love the way you teach, it's awesome. You don't just teach a trick or cool fill, you explain the foundation behind it in a clear, consice way. I can't believe the speed that I'm improving with from just watching your excellent videos. Thank you so much. I'm going to be loading up on your merchandise, you have great gear and I want to support what you do. I hope every drummer looking to improve finds your channel like I did.
I found your channel a few days ago man, the way you break shit down is exactly how I need it to be done to learn. Never finish one of your videos feeling frustrated I haven't figured it out in just one watch. Keep being an amazing teacher.
I am always late to these videos, but I'll tell you what- I play in a few bands and I'll watch Rob and pick up a groove or a trick and bring it to practice or a gig and I always get a reaction like, "WTF is that?!!!" Usually in a good way!! Usually... :) Thanks Rob, you are the best!
Thx bro! Another fun variation is putting the left hand on the hi-hat and playing the 2 and 4 snare with the right hand. Another classy attention getter.
Modified Swiss Army Triplet...love it. It you can also mix in the Swiss Army Triplet with it to add some more tasty stuff in transitions or in the middle of the groove.
That's great man! I use this all the time for all kinds of grooves and fills. It's simple and easy to play at all kinds of speeds. Very useful. And dang man, that A&F snare... Awesome!
This one is also fun to play right hand on ride and chick that hat on all of the eighth notes. Nice to drop into during a chorus when you run up on the ride or the bell. Bell bow snare bow bell bow snare…
Beatdown - I LUV the sound of your kick drum !! Deep, round, soft . . . I hate the sound of mine. I gotta review your kick drum video . . . Great lesson Rob. Orchestrating choices and sticking patterns to achieve these phrasing movements (Chaffee).
Mr Rob Brown this is amazing stuff you are one of my favorite Drummer's now I only have a small pot of professionals I listen to Thank you for sharing your music
you're awesome Rob!! I'm still waiting on the "enter the shed" tour!!! You know every once in a while I get bored playing and you always fire me up to find some new exciting expansion. Thank you!!! :)
Yup fantastic . Hey Bob can you teach us that groove you play at 5.37 to 5.38 in your video it sounds like a go go groove but would love to learn it thanks. Yes I know its only one second but its just before or incorporated in your fill . I need to learn this
Hey Rob, love you stuff; watch every video when it comes out. Would you do a vid about playing ahead, on, and behind the beat? I find myself stuck playing behind most of the time, and I'd appreciate any tips to get better. Thank you for all your vids!
Wowie ! From 6:15 on 👉🏼that advanced application and the groove change!!! Blows my mind. On my Mark Lettieri cover I use a similar triplet on the snare.
remus blaque This triplet pattern is taken directly from one of the older Rob’s videos - something like “How to seriously improve your stick control” or something. He shows 5 excercises there, based on this very triplet pattern. Ever since I saw that video, those 5 excercises became my everyday warm-up routine.
By George, I think I got it. I've been searching for a way in for over thirty years. Thanks Rob. I'm buying some of your merchandise now. ...lol... 😁👍😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Damn. That snare, tho... 🤤 Also, try this same groove, but lead with a double on the right and a single on the left. And start in the snare drum, alternating every double stroke between the snare and hi hats. Kind makes it feel backwards and half time.
Finally, FINALLY, I'll be able to get that car loan. Rob, you're a lifesaver!
You're the key, man! Drumeo ain't got nothing on you. All useful tips and no BullS$%!

When you laugh more in the first 1:30 of the video than you have in weeks, then proceed to an awesome lesson :)
