This was easily the Best Superbowl Halftime Show ever!
Best halftime show in my opinion. Great sound, great set list, great energy.

Hi Susannah---I believe in English Football, the champion is determined by overall best record. Meaning a champion can be crowned even if there are still matches to play.
Ours is a bit different. American football has two conferences (American and National). Each conference has 4 Divisions, with each division composed of four teams. All teams play a 16 game schedule. Winners of each division plus 2 "wild-card teams----(teams that didn't win the division but had really good records), then participate in what we call a play-off type tournament....basically "win and advance". Both conferences have play-offs and when the winner of each conference is determined they meet for the final championship which we call the "Super Bowl", the very last game of the season. I hope that this makes sense.... :-)
More simply put----league play determines the play-off teams. then there is a small tournament between just these teams.....win and advance until the last game (Super Bowl)
So you could in theory have a champion that may not even have won the most games during the season.
Yup! It happens sometimes. In 2011, the New York Giants had a 9-7 record (the season is 16 games). They barely made the playoffs and then won two playoff games to make the Super Bowl - which they then won, in a major upset.
Thank you Tee Badd. Your comparison with English football makes sense. I just love my music and any rock concert held in a football stadium (as opposed to a regular rock venue) distresses the hell out of me, but Tom and the boys did this one with aplomb. xxx

I won tickets to see him about 5 years ago and it is probably one of the best concerts I have been to, they were second row seats and he rocked all night, so confidant and comfortable with his audience, breath of fresh air.

A true American, Tom Petty. Tom Petty passes at 66. The only "ARTIST" I seen live 5 times, twice this year. I've been listening to Tom Petty since 1979, "Refugee" was the first song I herd of him, and still today I think it's his masterpiece. I am sad today, I'm very sad.

Wasn't that amazing?! Tom was 57-58 when this was recorded and easily knocking the pants of ANY rock band, decades younger!! Mike Campbell, same age, and his mastery over those guitars is hypnotic to watch. :) - I can't believe how young Tom's voice remains to this day. I've heard a song, 'Trailer', from his new Mudcrutch 2 Album (due May 2016 in UK). Considering he's 65 now, his voice is still wonderfully pure, and simply beautiful. The music, as, always, is the perfect compliment. :)
I agree with you totally about the strength of Tom's voice even at his current age of 66. I think it is more mellow and has more resonance than his early years.

Best SB halftime show ever. Blows away U2, The Who and even the 'Boss'. Beside the great performance were the really good 'vibes'.
That's what I love about Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers ... there's always a great laid-back vibe. You get the sense these guys really love what they do and they work so well together. They make it look effortless, which is why it's so easy to escape into their songs.

I agree Petty blew away U2,The Who but the Boss was pretty awesome in 2009.I think I give the nod to Buce though.
The "Boss", you're right, was great, but, unlike TP and the boys, looked a bit "forced" whereas TP looked completely at home on stage midfield.

Completely! Except you can clearly see here Petty Lip Synced, watch closely when he backs away from the mic. Bruce Sang live. Mick sang live, Prince sang live, Sir Paul lip synced parts of it.

the video. If you have noticed one, then I think UA-cam is to blame.
I've experienced it several times with other YT videos that picture and
sound were not in sync. Then decreasing the video resolution often helped.

After a series of less-than-stellar halftime shows, I almost turned this one off. Glad I didn't. Totally blew me away- still the best halftime show ever, IMHO. Great set from one classy artist.
