    Another past story. I was a cable installer, had a work truck. Went to a new gas station in town to fill it up. I had noticed about 3 or 5 cars just setting on the sides of the road as I approached the station. I remember thinking, thats odd. In the station, there wore more stalled cars parked around... Again, I really did not add 1 + 1 yet. I start fueling up my truck. Finish and start to leave. Got out of the driveway, and it stalled. Right about then, I realized why all these cars wore busted down near the station.... Turns out, the vents for the main fuel tanks wore in a corner of the lot. It rained that night, and flooded that part of the lot. filling the tanks with rain water. Local shop fixed everyone's cars... I now look around for stalled cars near fuel stops.

    just had a water in fuel incident recently. My son bought and fixed up a little Chevy truck, replaced the fuel pump. Truck drove great for a few days. Then it rained, not sure how it got in the tank, but it did. He thought the new fuel pump went bad, cause truck would not start. I went out and looked at with him. I advised, it looks like watered fuel, but he insisted it was a cheap defective fuel pump. We tested spark, air and fuel. Had fuel pressure. But I noticed the fuel pressure test gauge clear hose. The gauge has a clear drain hose, to bleed pressure. I could see how the fuel and water settled in the hose. There was definitely water in the fuel. Pulled the filter and drained about 4 gallons, before we saw pure gas. Truck started right up, and runs fine. NOTE: You should have added water to that container, to give a visual of what water in fuel looks like and behaves like.

    Great video.! Just an FYI- I believe the fuel bump only runs for a short period for safety. With the valve open the system notes that it is not building pressure so it assumes a leak and shuts down. Keep the videos coming👍

    Great video Marion. Do you use Ram filters or do you get them elsewhere. My truck is same year as yours and is under warranty for another year on powertrain. The dealers charge like the filters are lined with gold so I am looking for a good quality cost effective alternative if there is such a thing.

    Mr Blair, I'd be very interested in your opinion regarding delete of the DPF, EGR, and CCV reroute after the warranty has expired. Most of my reading/viewing says the DPF will fail eventually and is extraordinarily expensive. I have no desire to retune my truck, but I also don't want to be out several thousand dollars each time the DPF fails. At my age I intend this to be the last truck I ever buy.

    • @MarionBlair
      @MarionBlair  6 років тому +3

      Ed, I struggle with the same question. I lean toward delete when the first significant emissions device fails that would justify the delete. In fact, it would be a no brainer for me if it were not for the issue of not being able to trade it in deleted. My emissions warranty is up in April so I'll be on my own. I suspect I'll delete if I feel I'm going to keep the truck and I do feel I will. I'm 71 and have 38K on a truck nearly 5 years old. I think all the bugs are out of it now and it'll pull any RV I'll ever have.

    Marion, I've got a 2106 Laramie 2500 cummins. I've got 48000 miles on it, and never had the did sensor come on. It's now triggered twice in a week. Both times since the dealer did a software update 2 weeks ago, and also by coincidence, both times I've been driving in wet slushy snow. I don't think there's water in the fuel. Thoughts?

    • @MarionBlair
      @MarionBlair  6 років тому +1

      The sensor on the back filter, the one attached to the bottom of the filter seems to go bad on some trucks. If you check for water and there's no water in that back filter/ water sep. I'd probably change that sensor and see if it's any better or if you are still in warranty, take it to them with the code but make sure there's no water in the water sep. filter.
