- A very wet morning at Crewe but some interesting moves passing through the station and yard.
See class 73's 73963 & 73965 heading back to Derby after an evening working a test train across the Merseyside 3rd rail network.
Next up is A4 loco 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' arriving on the rear of the consist to head to Chester, where it will lead to Carlisle for a railtour to mark the 65th anniversary of it's 112mph ECML post war steam speed record.
Also seen is MIdland Pullman/LSL loco 43049 arriving by road via Allelys.
Hope you enjoy the video!

The Midland Pullam locomotive from your video looks to be 43046. Great video, thank you for sharing
I saw the 43 trundle past on the Crewe Railcam.. looked very strange lol
It looked like it was on top of the class 37’s at one stage from my angle 😜👍
The No.43046 “Geoff Drury 1930-1999 Steam Preservation and Computerised Track Recording Pioneer” is there.
And No.43049 “Neville Hill” is not.
More scoops!
73s are not the prettiest of locos, but you can't deny their longevity.
I guess that back in the day a BR(SR) 73 driver could only dream of taking his loco to Crewe.
Ask anyone 50 years ago. Class 73, scrapped, yes, at Crewe, no.
60007 marking the anniversary of its ECML speed run by going up the WCML... different I suppose 😆
The West Coast Mainline is closed north of Carlisle this morning due to flooding, not sure how far the Rail Tour will go.
It's only going as far north as Carlisle, so it shouldn't make any difference
hi, great video. why can't the clowns put that hst power car in a train with a brake van behind it, would be a lot quicker. those 73s don't sound the same without the EE engine which is a pity
There are no brake vans. The rules applicable to vans have been removed from the rule book. It’s likely going by road as it’s unfit to run by rail. The 73 has been updated to a V8 from an in-line 4!
The power car was returning from specialist bodywork repairs at a non-rail connected site. Perhaps in future educate yourself before referring to a very competent and professional railway company as “clowns”.
Why have a 600hp inline four cylinder from the 1950s/60s when a vastly more modern 1,600hp MTU V8 does the job of moving it a great deal better lol
@@Danse_Macabre_125 To be fair, the V8 lump does pack the engine room well! Unlike the 4 pot!
@@22pcirish Wonder what Network Rail's 73/9s are with their twin Cummins inline sixes
Power car must be unfit to travel by rail, seized wheel or something
Was solely logistical, as it had been at non-rail connected Millenium Site Services in Derby
Went to a non-rail connected body repair place I believe
Power car is 43046, not 43049.
Excellent video as always 👍
Where is the powercar going
It was returning back to LSL - Not sure where it’s been though. Someone will likely confirm..
the blue flying machines probably been to neville Hill Leeds for repairs! as normally it goes under its own power so not sure 🤔
weird seeing a class 73 at crewe as they was originally Eastleigh locomotives used on the Gatwick express and used for other duties!
I cannot think of anything sadder than a steamer heading backwards especially my favourite steamer of all. 😭 perhaps only the cutters torch is worse.
Those DRS 37s are they now owned by LSL since they were in the yard?
Harry Needle acquired those from DRS - LSL will be moving them next week to Worksop 👍
Thank you for getting soaked to bring us yet another enjoyable video.
Where are the 37s going to
They’re headed to Harry Needles storage yard in Worksop next week. 👍
