Sadly they are very far from “defending democracy” there’s a lot of information I suggest you take a deep dive into. Most of the information of the Ukraine war from the get go starting with the CIA initiated Coup in 2014 was all led by the United States. It’s our fault that this war is happening. Went their 3 days after russia invaded within 5 days i was in Ukraine went thru Poland with some others guys with the same idea got two javelin strikes a btr and a t-72 tank this was at the beginning of the war when they actually had trained soldiers but I didn't experience nothing like what these guys are having to deal with completely different war now both sides duggan fortified trenches shooting insane amounts of artillery while simultaneously flying thousands of recon and suicide drones scary
