    Really nice guide as always, with some really good explanations, so would you say that armored cars are worthless in any ways ? (I some times use them as support recon in my military police template to have some armor and hardness, is it really worth in the end ?)

    • @71Cloak
      @71Cloak  2 роки тому +12

      As far as I know support companies don't add harsness to a division ( i cant check right now though). If they do adding them to a 50 width isn't goong to do much anyways.
      Armoured cars still provide the highest reconnaissance value if you care for that.

      Recon light tank will give you a booster in the status of your divisions that, I think are a lot better than any recon and armor bonuses that you can get with armored cars. Though, to use them in garrison would make them useless because of how little it would increase the armor of the division, without count that It would make the division more expensive unnecessarily.

    It would be nice if you could test some mixed divisions as well, and also mention that armored cars while more expensive are very useful as recon divisions and so you might already be producing them all game and have a decent stockpile. For instance how having just a few light tanks mixed into your full cav with mp and see how that effects losses and IC cost. ofc once you get huge IC cost becomes less of a factor but it would be nice to see if theres a truly meta design of mixed cav tank for garrisons.

    is there any reason to use armored cars anywhere? knowing recon is virtually useless

    • @Technae
      @Technae 2 роки тому +2

      nope :/
      armored cars can go very fast if you modify their engines but you can still make faster light tanks (technically the armored cars are much cheaper for this but they have less org, so you can't vroom far anyway and this entire speed thing is just a meme ua-cam.com/video/80yMXqlWW_0/v-deo.html)
      they might have been useful since there is the anti-tank armored car hidden in the tech tree, which you could use for armored car recon supports, but it's still not worth it economically or performance wise which leads into the following point
      since you cant combine recon companies (armored recon is straight up better) in the way you can supplement support artillery with support rocket artillery...
      recon armor cars hurt your bottom line by preventing you using armored recon
      technically armored cars require less research and army experience to set up, but they're a very weak stopgap measure compared to just using horses or setting up garrison light tanks since cars are still more expensive than the light tanks to produce, so... just forget this section of the tech tree exists honestly

    • @kyallokytty
      @kyallokytty 2 роки тому +1

      @@Technae thats actually sad, PDX reeeeeeaaaaally needs their QA back
      they used to be a decent niche in la resistance as support companies, but designing tanks means you can make better AT lights than the 1944(is it 44 or 46? I forgor) AT car variant(also a lot earlier), or at the very least you're not using any extra research in doing so

    • @71Cloak
      @71Cloak  2 роки тому +11

      You get more than just the support equipment back. If you started with a 10 width cav division and added military police, you are going to trade support equipment for a lot of infantry equipment back and a pretty big manpower savings. Increasing that 10 width to 50 width will reduce your manpower needed, infantry equipment needed, and support equipment needed. If you are using military police, the only reason to use a division less than 50 width is you don't have the army experience to spare.

    I will just saz something to all the people here. Looking at manpower loss is non existant. Manpower as a thing is just a number without any value behind it. Let me explain that being said to resistance. HOI4 is a game with unlimited ammount of man to throw around.. I mean if you play any major dont bother with crap and looking at manpower. Most nations require about 200 inf divisions for world qonquest at the most. If we talk SP Japan never goes past extencive conscription regardless what you do. USSR/Germany as well Italy probablly the same and any other major at the worst will go to service by requirement. So 50 cav width template is best due to IC cost of a single unit aka being basically notnhing due to another nice stat that guns are again a stat check. But nice video tho

  • @TheMelnTeam
    @TheMelnTeam 2 роки тому +1

    In world conquest runs, you can usually trivialize manpower as soon as you get one big peace deal vs a major faction. You can puppet, swap 2 width divisions of yours into 50 width colonial template of nation with lots of manpower, then annex. China and USSR are best candidates for this, but even stuff like Dutch East Indies will give you many millions of manpower, only a fraction of which would ever go into garrisons.
    Here is an example from an achievement run: i.imgur.com/I7VGhXB.jpg . With this much manpower, it's hard to justify anything but cavalry in SP world conquest runs. No tech requirements (unless you really want military police), generally minimal IC in practice due to captured/seized infantry kits as you point out, and the manpower difference just isn't consequential enough to bother with making investment against resistance in SP. Though interwar tanks don't take much tech either, I don't see it being worth the time/effort to bother.

      You can even do that before the war ends with collaboration government, but be careful if you annex a collaboration government, you have to build the collaboration up again from 0.

      @@bigbenhgy Yeah true. Spy time is a valuable resource though, as is IC. I think it's better to put collaboration where you intend to keep the territory, and use puppets for manpower while disregarding compliance/resistance until after annexing. At high compliance, you get nearly all of the IC.
      As such, DEI and China are much better manpower sources to sponge than USSR or USA, because the opportunity cost is smaller. I would say India too, but their focus tree/spirits tend to gut manpower there so you can actually draw more out of nations with a fraction of the recruitable pop. Its pop is so high that collab will give a non-trivial amount of manpower from non-core, though.
      Also if you're trying to take over the world as something like Cuba or Egypt you often just puppet whatever until you can get a spy agency going and set up actual compliance. Early on those nations don't have enough civilian IC to even get spies (in literal sense), and get more mileage from just piling up enough infantry to be a factor in the world war (you can farm warscore by repeatedly pushing AI off victory points to make top 2 before winning). But even as these nations, I find it hard to ever justify designing/using tanks in the garrison role...they still scale up their manpower pools faster (via annexation/using puppets) than IC, and thus it's at less of a premium.

      The advisor for non-core manpower if you have conquered lots of stuff with high compliance will also net you ridiculous manpower.
