I am one of the last of many of my couple friends to get married, and I have heard split opinions on wedding planners. None of them had them and I’ll say this: the ones who had disorganized, thrown together, not enjoyable for guests wedding said “you don’t need one! I did everything on my own!”
The ones who had pleasant, put together, well executed weddings said “if I could go back in time I’d make room in my budget to hire a wedding planner because although my wedding was stunning it cost me my mental sanity for months & deprived me of a happy engagement”
Do with that info what you will😂

My daughter is getting married next June. The best decision I ever made was hiring a wedding planner. She has already saved us so much time and I am taking care of 2 parents with different dementia issues. I am letting my daughter make most of the decisions but the planner is keeping us on budget and my daughter responds much better to the planner than to me when it comes to decisions. Best money I have spent on this wedding!

We have a really low budget for our wedding. So when I started to reach out to wedding planners they all had insane starting prices from 2000 to 4000 Euros. Our budget is 15'000. We met with one planner anyway and she said no problem I will fit my cost into your budget, that is my job. She told me to send her my budget and she'd go over it for free. I had everything thing in there from flowers, our rings to my dress. She sent it back with her fee included, same 15'000 but she just deleted my dress and the cost for the hotel we'd be staying at 😅😅😅😅 I was pretty annoyed. Now I do it on my own. Just fun story to share😊😊

Hi Jamie! Could you do a video on music for weddings? Like options for the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, etc., live band vs. dj, how much of a say the couple gets in the songs that are played at the reception, what goes into it, etc. I hadn’t thought much about it before but I realize I don’t really know how it all works! Advice and information would be much appreciated :)

This is really good. I’d just like to point out, if the choices to be made were simply based on the cheapest option that fits a general vision, instead of figuring out “what you want” or “your dream wedding” maybe the average price of weddings would go down, lol.

    So, here's the thing:
    1) I'm Queen of to-do lists
    2) I'm definitely a planner
    3) I already know like every detail that I want for my wedding (besides maybe the napkins 😂)
    4) I already planned my friend's wedding and am about to help plan another friends wedding
    5) I LOVE event planning and interior design
However... Not sure I wanna deal with the stress of everything myself 😂 I know that I COULD, but it would probably be stressful with my schedule. I was planning on just having a day of coordinator that I maybe just converse with the last few weeks before the wedding, but now I'm torn. You always do this to me!! 😂

Hi Jamie! I just discovered your channel and it is amazing! My fiancé and I decided to invest on a wedding planner for two main reasons: we are having a destination wedding, so we do not the area and the vendors, as well as a wedding planner and the second reason, is that I am a huge procrastinator, so I would be terrible at planning a wedding on my own. I’m planning my mum and stepdad’s wedding in September 2020. I’m so excited! I’ve already got a full 2 year schedule planner for them to work on and we’re booking the venue this week. There’s only going to be 25 people who are mostly family so I feel like it’s not really a ‘huge’ event. Your videos have actually inspired me to look into doing events planning as a career. People are always telling me that I’m over organised, I always have spare hairbands, lip balm and water etc and so I feel like maybe I could do this as a career. Do you have any advice for me, apart from don’t do it? 😂 your video ‘no, you cannot plan your own wedding’ kinda scared me. 😬

Do you pay for a bunch of consultations with various planners, or is there a more affordable interview process? They don't all have amazing youtube channels like yours to get a sense of their personalities, so I'm curious to know how you can pick the right person for you without dropping a ton of cash.

Are you able to hire a wedding planner on an as needed basis? For example, I have a lot of the wedding planner things covered from this video between myself and my family, however, when it comes to contracts I'm not really sure what I would do. Jamie, the more and more I watch your videos, it makes me so mad/sad that my wedding planner really isn’t good. All the points you brought up today I either do on my own or with little to no help of my planner. She’s not organize, I have to make spreadsheets for her, and she still won’t fill them out. I have found my own photographer. I’ve asked her for a quote from florists it’s been 2 month and she has yet to give me one. I hired a WC because I live in California and my wedding is in Maui, Hawaii. She’s not helping the way I thought I should expect her to help, and she’s expensive. What can I do to pay less and not have a weird vibe with her the day of the wedding? She makes me so mad, I don’t want her there but I know I’ve paid 50% for her and I don’t know if I have to pay her the full 100% and find someone else. Hellppppppppp!

Do you have a contract? If they have breached it, you could take them to small claims court and get the money back. Erase the tension and either do it yourself (since you already have been) or get a better one

    • @biazaragoza
      @biazaragoza 5 років тому

Elizabeth Penton I actually emailed her today asking her “is it normal to not see a contract?” The only contract I can remember signing is for my venue. If it wasn’t for my venue being all inclusive, I would be stressed even more having to deal with a cater, Baker, flatware company and misc items like lights and dance floor. My venue provides all that in house and they send me very clean and organized PDFs. I have even made a spreadsheet and all she has to do is fill it in, and she won’t do that! Says she can’t do it. Her emails are all over the place and hard read. Very informal and unprofessional. She’s so hard to deal with. What should I do if I never signed a contract? Could I get my money back, before going to small claims? I’m in a pickle too because her son will most likely be my videographer. I really don’t want to piss her off before the wedding day and her son not do a good job with my video. From the 3 options she only have me of videographers to choose from, I did not like one because his videos were dark and the other one was WAY out of my price range. Did she set that up on purpose? Who knows. But she says she doesn’t know anyone else to recommend me.

    • @elizabethpenton2306

@@biazaragoza I recommend talking to your fiance and a parent (or older relative who doesn't let anyone screw them over) and consider what to do based on all the variables such as how far away the day is and how many changes can be made while still being successful. Idk if contracts are the industry norm with wedding planners, but there should be clear rules about what the roles are and expectations to begin with and if its possible to establish that, do it asap

Jamie, would you please help with our photography decision? We are between two amazing photographers for our destination wedding. One lives in the wedding location, is extremely open, kind, generous, organized, and thoughtful, and comes with an engagement session. Only concern is that some photos have been too bright/overexposed and the tone of surrounding greenery can sometimes appear a bit yellow (important because our wedding is outdoors). Other photographer is out-of-state, kind, and professional, and has consistently absolutely gorgeous photos that we love (never seen a bad one in fact!). But, no engagement session or knowledge of the destination location. The price is nearly the same, with the latter slightly more. Thanks for any input! :) Love your channel!!

As an amateur photographer I'll just pop in and say that over exposed photos are the worst when it comes to editing. Basically you can do anything with the colours in a photograph when you edit except dense black and complete white (also called dead pixels). Whatever you do to the photo, those dead pixels will stay the same. You can add a filter and make them more cool tones etc, but the depth will be completely gone and won't be coming back. It's much easier to get white dead pixels than black so that's definitely something to be careful with when you look at their photos. A sky should be lots of different colours, but if large expanses seem to be blocked white that's definitely a red flag.
