Hey Tanner. I recently did fuel lines(Cobbs kit). They route them on the STI as a 180° fitting from the front of the tgvs on the passenger side front side fuel rail and a 90° from the rear end route them under the turbo inlet. Worked just fine for my 11 hatch STI with a bigger turbo.
My install were inverted... 180degree for the turbo rail ends, and 90 degree facing up for the tgv sensor up front rail ends.. But on LHD driver side i went 180 for front tgv sensor ends, with 90 for the starter motor rail ends.. 😁 Along with parallel fuel rail conversion

I put some LED smoked headlights on my Subaru and it gives it such a clean look I would recommend I think it’d really be the last step and clean up the whole build whenever you get this thing finished
I did the 180 degree fitting off the front of the passenger fuel rail and it worked perfect! I do have tgv deletes but I liked the idea of running the line under the intercooler. So hopefully it’ll work out for you!
As far as the access port, I had the same thing happen with mine. It was a power surge and it fried the AP. Happened from a bent pin and fried most of the fuses in the interior fuse box and a few under the hood. So if the car starts to light up the dash check all your fuses.
It’s funny that I’m seeing this video. I just finished my fuel system and kept the tgvs, and that is what I had to do, 180 degree fittings on both feed and return in the passenger side and plumb them under the manifold towards the driver side. Driver side feed also 180degree fitting, return was able to use a 90. Was a pain for sure…
I actually just swapped out my leaking steering rack for the 2015 STI steering rack.. overall the steering feels very nice, I love it!! BUT I would say the most difficult part about the entire process was getting the two power steering fitting back on and tight!!
@@Smeedia I agree 100%. The steering is so much more responsive after swapping racks. When I got my STI 5 days ago that baby was oooozing power steering fluid and the steering felt like I was driving a truck.. all loosie-goosie😂 I was glad the Subaru dealership in puyallup had one in stock. The steering rack issue was really the only issue that was driving me up the wall so after I RR’d that baby all my stress went away.. up next is a access port, I’d like to have both eye balls on any potential issue.. In the mean time I should really buy a higher psi boost gauge. She’s tuned for 20psi and the gauge reads up to 20psi so I won’t be able to catch any over boosting… ps! We’ve got mutual friends! I text Cameron Chand the other day saying how familiar you look and he’s like “yeah dude that’s tanner!” “You’ve kicked it with him a time or two” 😅 I was like “huh no way!” Long read.. small world!!! I have a TGV delete on my 2011 WRX, but the problem is now that with tuning and the changes to Cobb policy, they can't clear the check engine light for them being gone, so I have to buy a set of OEM TGVs and cut off the majority of it, and dangle them in the engine bay to make the car think it still has the TGV.

My accessport had the same issue. It got corrosion on the electrical connectors from sitting in my car cause of humidity I suppose... had to pay $150 to fix it.
TGV’s are stupid that’s what I deleted them and went SD as well even with the stock VF52. Yes SD is “not exact measurement” but I honestly think with all the additional mods including being catless it’s a added safety net since the calculations for SD are done in reference to intake temp, and manifold pressure to scale fuel trims based off off calculated air density which is kinda beneficial for the nasty boost spike the VF52 will put out when you have catless UP/DP, ELH, TGV deletes and a intake
Should pick up a poly bushing pitch stop mount from eBay while you’re at it. Hella cheap as well for a no name brand. Around 20-30 bucks on eBay. Just search Subaru pitch stop mount, that is if a company doesn’t send you one. Ran the same one for years and no issues. Basically and unbranded, name brand one lol. Nice work brotha!
Same exact thing happened to my accessport after a month, all of a sudden it just died and wouldn't power on even hooked up to my PC 🤷 They were good about it and sent a replacement
I have that EXACT iWire wide band kit. If that shit works for you with the new update I'm gonna be really happy because I was thinking I was screwed....
@@Smeedia that's awesome news. So does it work after having a map made for that signal? Because I plugged mine up, instant CEL Because of the unplugged rear O2. So I unplugged the connection to read the rear O2 again. This was months ago.
@@Smeedia slowly. Warped my twin turbo turbo flange when welding it. Picked up a bench top belt sander like yours to flatten it out. But working on the Black SG XT to get it road worthy
You mean "pencil holders" right? My man, I might as well be the headlight retrofit dude at this point. I bought I think 5 for my G35 to make 2... did the whole satin blackhousing thing, tinted the high beam/fog light section yellow (the bulb does both on that car), thankfully got enough HIDs with the housings that I had 2 that were close enough in color (one's whiter and the other's more white/purple). My original game plan was to fit Q45 "gatlin gun" projectors in my housings... I had seen it done before. Except it was on a coupe. They have slightly larger light housings. I have one housing as a proof of concept still, unfinished but we got it in there (got 3 Q45 projectors), unfortunately the job would have required a lot more cutting, fab, & time than I had so I went the route of blackhousing+yellow instead. Oh and I'm pissed because the nearly perfect lenses were almost immediately UV damaged in the 2-3 months after install. They'll get a buff/cut/polish and hit with a UV film from Lamin-X that I have.
Those shrouds are pretty big, I use to retrofit headlights for a few years and did a couple sets of them. Overall not terrible but there are definitely some better options out there for the money. Haven't heard of the Q45 project swap before 👀
@@Smeedia What shrouds are you talking about for clarity? The Q45 projectors are absolutely MASSIVE. I saw someone retrofitted them in a pic online but I didn't realize at the time that the G35 coupe has a bigger headlight "bowl" or whatever it's called than my sedan does, thus my project would've needed a lot of cutting/clearancing to make them work. Unfortunately that means I have a bunch of stupid expensive projectors I can't use atm. But seriously look the gatling beams up, they're gorgeous.
I need that 2015+ rack installation video. My steering sometimes gets weird while turning and it becomes hard. I've tried flushing the system and refilling bleed. Didn't help is nor all the time but is scary when it happens so I want to do a new steering pump and a 2015+ rack so looking forward to that video
Give the morimoto 2stroke 3.0's LED's a try first. I did an HID retrofit and honestly I don't see a huge improvement over the morimoto LED's, in some cases I prefer the LED's. The light output is much more even than my retrofit, maybe I just suck at retrofits, but in terms of cost and ease, might be worth giving them a try first
Hit me up and I’ll send a few picks of how I set my fuel pressure regulator on my 2011 wrx. I Find My leaving it on the intake makes it really easy when I have to take the intake off or to remove the engine. I just modified the existing bracket.
Tanner! I am in need of your opinion. I’m doing a bugeye build, and I can’t find fuel rails to fit my tgv’s like you couldn’t! I’ve called a few company’s and can’t find an answer. Do you happen to know if there are any rails that would fit my 02 wrx tgv’s? And also the issue where your injectors were super loose is exactly what I’m dealing with. you can get the tgvs deleted then leave the tgv module plugged in secured somewhere in the bay? or you can delete the flaps and keep the module installed to the housing. sounds compliant to me. 😃

Yeah, ran into the same problem on my EJ255. I just used a 90 fitting, arched the line over the TGV solenoid/motor. same issue on passenger and driver side on EJ with TGVs. honestly the passenger side just tucks under the turbo inlet, the driver side arcs over the TGV motor and bends back towards firewall and under the manifold then over the wire harness runner. where i have the T fitting to the other side and the inlet line running back along the throttle body over the transmission and along the firewall to the fuel line hookups. i think a 180 would be a better fit on the passenger side, drivers side i dont think you can do much better than just bending it over the top.
About a year ago I had a similar issue with my ap on for my 2021 wrx. It worked great for about a week and then all the sudden wouldn’t power on and just made a screeching noise. Ap manager also didn’t recognize it.

I'm a big fan of Subaru and the mighty flat four. The one thing thats a little disappointing is that when you look at the engine, you can't see it. It's hidden beneath an ocean of tubes, hoses and wires. I appreciate the fact that they are high tech machines and rely on all the hoses and wires. But is it not possible to reorganise the "birds nest" to make it pleasant to look at and fully functional?

How the hell are you supposed to take the intake manifold off with the little fuel rails in the way? The intake manifold is bolted ontop o the TGV's, but how do you just remove only the intake without touching the fuel rails and stuff? there has to be some sort of way...
I think you're doing Cobb a favor figuring this tvg out. If they want to be green speed compliant this is something they should be working on. Hopefully they make something that works around it. Also would the Cobb port know if you deleted the tvg?

Would that iwire kit let me delete my rear o2 and put a wideband there instead and run without any kind of cel? My downpipe is an old invidia catless and it didn’t come with a wideband bung up top. It sounds like it would let me replace the stock o2 and connect to the ecu with the wideband in place of the rear 02 and not have any problems?

@@Smeedia oh it's SO much easier :) I'm surprised you've never tried it building headlights in the past. Spray it on, wait a few minutes, rinse n repeat once to get the crevices missed. With the VA headlights, I'm sure most, it has a nice gloss black finish underneath ready to go :) It’s nice because you don’t have to worry about runs, crap getting into the paint, off gassing, and you get to skip the drying time. Best of all you don’t have to worry about scratching the paint during reassembly.
So ive been wrenching with na subarus for a few years now and my 09 outback is shitting the bed. I'm really really tempted to just sell it and get a wrx hatch, would a 100k wrx with an exhaust and any little reliability mods be a solid daily? And any advice while I look for one

Hey Tanner. How do you plan to log with the iwire AFR setup. It says on the iwire website that it is not compatible with the AP after the green speed update. I guess I'm just not understanding how the iwire harness works for both the stock and wideband O2 sensors and the ecm.
Tanner! Hey man, loving the hatch build so far. I just got done with a pretty substantial upgrade on my 11 STI Hatch and have the stock intake manifold now sitting around doing nothing in my garage. Would that be something you're interested in for this build, by chance?
@@Smeedia Consider it yours, brother. Only thing you'll need is the vacuum nozzle for the brake booster on the driver's side, had to transfer that over to my new manifold. I know it's different on the WRXs vs. the STI in the GR years, but should be easy to source from Subaru, hell I wouldn't be surprised if you had one sitting on a shelf somewhere. I'll get it boxed up and dropped off at UPS on Monday.
Hey... Ive just slide into your discord server... And ive shown a couple of pictures on my fuel rail+hose install method with stock tgv housing... (1pcs 180degree fitting, 1pcs 90degree fitting per side)
Also.. later down the line when u decide to swap out headlight projector, please dont go with miniH1 type of projector... Its a downgrade from the oem projector... Atleast it needs 3" evoX-R projector... Or the king of laser like long throw output 3" fx-R projector if u want to keep using your existing ballast and bulb plug (igniter) But koito bi-LED or sinolyn laser bi-LED projector were awesome and sharp too.. just the price still a tad high for most people... (Because laser-led is still relatively new technology in headlights)
Thr mini H1 is wayyyy better than the stock WRX ones, the STI projects I'll agree are better though. Mini H1 projects with a TSXR lens and appropriate D2S bulbs and it's money🤝 We looked up the laser led stuff snd they are light spot lights 😅
@@Smeedia probably u mean mini d2s with clear lense... That one definately among the best budget projector ugrade option... MiniH1 uses H1 bulb which is difficult to align due to the bulb base design... Cheers... 🍻

Still won't go low enough, need to drop prop shaft, disconnect linkage and really let it hang, we made another attempt yesterday lol

My man, I might as well be the headlight retrofit dude at this point. I bought I think 5 for my G35 to make 2... did the whole satin blackhousing thing, tinted the high beam/fog light section yellow (the bulb does both on that car), thankfully got enough HIDs with the housings that I had 2 that were close enough in color (one's whiter and the other's more white/purple).
My original game plan was to fit Q45 "gatlin gun" projectors in my housings... I had seen it done before. Except it was on a coupe. They have slightly larger light housings. I have one housing as a proof of concept still, unfinished but we got it in there (got 3 Q45 projectors), unfortunately the job would have required a lot more cutting, fab, & time than I had so I went the route of blackhousing+yellow instead.
Oh and I'm pissed because the nearly perfect lenses were almost immediately UV damaged in the 2-3 months after install. They'll get a buff/cut/polish and hit with a UV film from Lamin-X that I have.
Those shrouds are pretty big, I use to retrofit headlights for a few years and did a couple sets of them.
Overall not terrible but there are definitely some better options out there for the money.

The Q45 projectors are absolutely MASSIVE. I saw someone retrofitted them in a pic online but I didn't realize at the time that the G35 coupe has a bigger headlight "bowl" or whatever it's called than my sedan does, thus my project would've needed a lot of cutting/clearancing to make them work.
Unfortunately that means I have a bunch of stupid expensive projectors I can't use atm. But seriously look the gatling beams up, they're gorgeous.

I need that 2015+ rack installation video. My steering sometimes gets weird while turning and it becomes hard. I've tried flushing the system and refilling bleed. Didn't help is nor all the time but is scary when it happens so I want to do a new steering pump and a 2015+ rack so looking forward to that video

Give the morimoto 2stroke 3.0's LED's a try first. I did an HID retrofit and honestly I don't see a huge improvement over the morimoto LED's, in some cases I prefer the LED's. The light output is much more even than my retrofit, maybe I just suck at retrofits, but in terms of cost and ease, might be worth giving them a try first
I've used the 2 strokes before and never been a huge fan, light scatter goes everything, looks unfocused. Personally lerfer a proper HID set up 🙏
I just bought a LED sti badge from lit logos that might be a pretty cool mod for this build aswell since they have it for wrxs

Hit me up and I’ll send a few picks of how I set my fuel pressure regulator on my 2011 wrx. I Find My leaving it on the intake makes it really easy when I have to take the intake off or to remove the engine. I just modified the existing bracket.

Tanner! I am in need of your opinion. I’m doing a bugeye build, and I can’t find fuel rails to fit my tgv’s like you couldn’t! I’ve called a few company’s and can’t find an answer. Do you happen to know if there are any rails that would fit my 02 wrx tgv’s? And also the issue where your injectors were super loose is exactly what I’m dealing with. Is it supposed to be like that or is there something you did for it. Thank you very much for your time and I absolutely love the content bro.
You really gotta push the injectors in, but the Cobb rails should fit with some proper lines 🙏

Yeah, ran into the same problem on my EJ255. I just used a 90 fitting, arched the line over the TGV solenoid/motor. same issue on passenger and driver side on EJ with TGVs. honestly the passenger side just tucks under the turbo inlet, the driver side arcs over the TGV motor and bends back towards firewall and under the manifold then over the wire harness runner. where i have the T fitting to the other side and the inlet line running back along the throttle body over the transmission and along the firewall to the fuel line hookups. i think a 180 would be a better fit on the passenger side, drivers side i dont think you can do much better than just bending it over the top.
The 180 was the beat solution I could see without making lines go everyone 😅 I get so OCD when it comes to building fuel lines lol
About a year ago I had a similar issue with my ap on for my 2021 wrx. It worked great for about a week and then all the sudden wouldn’t power on and just made a screeching noise. Ap manager also didn’t recognize it.

I'm a big fan of Subaru and the mighty flat four. The one thing thats a little disappointing is that when you look at the engine, you can't see it. It's hidden beneath an ocean of tubes, hoses and wires. I appreciate the fact that they are high tech machines and rely on all the hoses and wires. But is it not possible to reorganise the "birds nest" to make it pleasant to look at and fully functional?

How the hell are you supposed to take the intake manifold off with the little fuel rails in the way? The intake manifold is bolted ontop o the TGV's, but how do you just remove only the intake without touching the fuel rails and stuff? there has to be some sort of way...
I think you're doing Cobb a favor figuring this tvg out. If they want to be green speed compliant this is something they should be working on. Hopefully they make something that works around it. Also would the Cobb port know if you deleted the tvg?

Would that iwire kit let me delete my rear o2 and put a wideband there instead and run without any kind of cel? My downpipe is an old invidia catless and it didn’t come with a wideband bung up top. It sounds like it would let me replace the stock o2 and connect to the ecu with the wideband in place of the rear 02 and not have any problems?

@@Smeedia oh it's SO much easier :) I'm surprised you've never tried it building headlights in the past. Spray it on, wait a few minutes, rinse n repeat once to get the crevices missed. With the VA headlights, I'm sure most, it has a nice gloss black finish underneath ready to go :)
It’s nice because you don’t have to worry about runs, crap getting into the paint, off gassing, and you get to skip the drying time. Best of all you don’t have to worry about scratching the paint during reassembly.

You'll need the 180s or you'll have to build your own lines, can confirm thr iag lines do no clear tgvs
Hey Tanner. How do you plan to log with the iwire AFR setup. It says on the iwire website that it is not compatible with the AP after the green speed update. I guess I'm just not understanding how the iwire harness works for both the stock and wideband O2 sensors and the ecm.
It's only able to log if you have capabilites to do so, we have it installed for future proof but will not be logging ei

I just got done with a pretty substantial upgrade on my 11 STI Hatch and have the stock intake manifold now sitting around doing nothing in my garage. Would that be something you're interested in for this build, by chance?

@@Smeedia Consider it yours, brother. Only thing you'll need is the vacuum nozzle for the brake booster on the driver's side, had to transfer that over to my new manifold. I know it's different on the WRXs vs. the STI in the GR years, but should be easy to source from Subaru, hell I wouldn't be surprised if you had one sitting on a shelf somewhere.
I'll get it boxed up and dropped off at UPS on Monday.
Hey... Ive just slide into your discord server... And ive shown a couple of pictures on my fuel rail+hose install method with stock tgv housing... (1pcs 180degree fitting, 1pcs 90degree fitting per side)
Also.. later down the line when u decide to swap out headlight projector, please dont go with miniH1 type of projector...
Its a downgrade from the oem projector...
Atleast it needs 3" evoX-R projector... Or the king of laser like long throw output 3" fx-R projector if u want to keep using your existing ballast and bulb plug (igniter)
But koito bi-LED or sinolyn laser bi-LED projector were awesome and sharp too.. just the price still a tad high for most people... (Because laser-led is still relatively new technology in headlights)
Thr mini H1 is wayyyy better than the stock WRX ones, the STI projects I'll agree are better though.
Mini H1 projects with a TSXR lens and appropriate D2S bulbs and it's money🤝
We looked up the laser led stuff snd they are light spot lights 😅

MiniH1 uses H1 bulb which is difficult to align due to the bulb base design...
