- I take a quick look at the TPA3118 and TPA3116 2.1 Subwoofer Amplifier Plates for DIY speaker building. Also available as the Lepai LP210PA from Soundimports.eu (in Europe) or Partsexpress.com 9in the US), this very versatile mini amplifier plate has great uses for home DIY audio. It can be used on small subwoofers as part of a 2.1 channel home cinema setup or be purposed for use in boomboxes or powered speaker setups. With the option of bluetooth, they can be used to create a great home audio system.

pretty cool thing...
cheers
Makes life easier!!
Another great video.
Thanks Nicholas!
I was waiting for a sound test.
I used it to build the following. There is a sound test on this build: ua-cam.com/video/P_YL9MoaYLI/v-deo.html
Thanks for the overview Does the speaker output feature an integrated high pass filter? I am considering getting one of these for a fun build, driving a quite efficient 10" subwoofer and some high efficient mains. But I need a high pass to protect the main speakers
Tbh I'm not sure, but, you can use the link to contact the sellers to ask them
Paul, I love the channel buddy. Keep it up. One question about the TPA3116 plate amp with bluetooth. Does it have an auto shut off when there is no signal? I am wanting to use this in a 2.1 desktop setup and was hoping not to have to switch it on and off in between uses.
Hi Donnie, not that I am aware of. Don't know if there is a work around. You could always contact the seller, they may know more.(parts link in the description)
Hi great channel
Want to make 3 way speakers with this amp (one amp for each speaker)
How to connect wires to speakers (tweeter, mid and woofer) to this board?
Thx
You'd be OK with the woofer but have to figure out a way of incorporating a crossover on the mid/tweeter. Can't really help you but best of luck!!

Hello, would connecting a 100w subwoofer to this TPA3116 amplifier be enough, or would I have to look for a more powerful amplifier?
To get everything out of your 100w sub, you would need to check the power supply you would be using, as although this amp is rated at 100w for the sub and 50w x 2 for the l + r drivers with the average power supply you may only get 70% of the max power. So, to get the full 100watts, you may want to consider a bigger amp but, that will obviously cost more!! Hope this sort of makes sense
Do this one also have a hi pass filter to the satellites , like the Lepay?
Hi Ole, I really don't know. The link is in the description and I am sure if you email the sellers they will let you know.
What is louder sir and what are their frequency response on the amplifier
3116 has higher wattage. No idea of frequency response but I am sure you may find that out in the links!!
I'm building a guitar amp. Would this run a 2x12 cab?
Sorry I genuinely have no idea. Link to where to buy is in the description so I guess you could always ask the seller?
What power supply are you using?

And the AliExpress version is much cheaper than the lepai one 😂 even though they are identical. But 50*2+100W is not that usable since you will get 20%Thd+n @ 50W per channel. But it’s more than enough for a pair of bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer
It's considerably cheaper!! Tbh I find the 3116 perfectly adequate.
I literally just need enough power to run two 35w speakers and one ??w subwoofer (all of which are second hand thrift buys $15) in a motorhome.
@@DIY-AUDIO What power supply did you use and/or what's it's rating? I noticed the plate amps claimed it worked in the range of 15v-22v which I thought was sorta odd (USA American here, used to seeing 5V, 12V, and 24V power supplies mainly).
@@MrWirelesscaller I use a 24v 5A power without issues (never likely to have anything at full power mind you) but bought it separately on Amazon.
@@DIY-AUDIO Thanks, I was curious about that, I do know if I do buy one of these amps I was going to get a power supply rated beyond the amp because from what I've seen most of these supplies tend to fall short on their claimed output.
I ordered a PAM8610 from walmart yesterday and realized it'd also be nice to get another amp that can push a sub as well (have two sets of bookshelves in two rooms and thinking about buying a sub off craigslist). These seem to be better built that I expected, now I have to decide which amp to buy for the living room, thanks for your video.
compare to tpa 3255?
I've not had pleasure of trying that one but obviously it should handle much more power. Don't think they make the amp plates with it though and I've done this plus builds to show how easy this is to incorporate into a build!!
I’ve used these on 4 projects as well, sound fine, however have a 150hz @ 12db (2nd order) high pass filter on the L/R channel which drives me crazy… I should figure out how to disable
You know more than me!!
I bought the 3116 version and doesn't have the high pass filter for the L/R. Only the 3118 have a filter;
@@tsikisag3 I also purchased the 3116 Bluetooth version. You say the L/R channel have no filter. How did you find that out? By testing? I am possibly wanting to use it with a 2.1 desktop system.
That's a presentation not a review
