    If your power supply is only 12V and 2A, then your max is 24 watts assuming 100% efficiency. Doubling volts cuts amps in half, so you end up having 24V and 1A. Volts x Amps = Watts.

    wow ... i am so happy to find this video is the step up convertor capable of being installed in a car with a battery voltage of 12v 24A?...
    i was thinking about it, i have a plan to make a subwofer with tpa3116, i think i need 24v power for a tpa3116 amplifier

    If you're only getting 2 amps from voltage booster that tells you right there the most you'll get is 50 watts

    Thank u sir with that informative video.
    I have a toshiba mini soundbar subwoofer which is rated 40watts @8 ohms. Its a passive subwoofer gets its power from the amp installed in the soundbar.
    I have tried this 100 watt mono sub amp and its working with a 4amp 19 volt power supply without a problem. I used audio 3.5 jack to input the stereo signals from my phone.
    Now i cant figure out how to use signals from my car audio. The player does have a sub output but the input requires R.L.G. a set of three wires.
    Also do i need a step up circuit in order to boost 12v of my car? It worked when i tested but it seemed a bit distorted at 12 i think.

    Great Scott, thanks for the video! :) (BTTF... one of the best movies ever!)
    I have a Klipsch Promedia 2.1 set that I blew the amp in. I tried to fix the amp by installing new fuses, but the fuses keep blowing, so there are other components that are damaged. Anyhow, I saved the set (Bought a Logitech z623 - lol which is booming with your video here. :) ) and was interested in putting the Klipsch sub in my truck. Would you know, and could you tell me what wires and such would be needed to do that? I suppose I need to run a power wire to the battery, through the firewall?
    I just installed a new Sony stereo. It has an RCA jack in the back for subwoofer. I already ordered an RCA wire - 20 feet or so. I was going to just try to hook it up with that but i'm sure it's not enough power. I have a Sony DSX-B700 4x 55W. I don't need anything outrageous, just a little extra bass than the factory speakers put out. Which.. the factory speakers are pretty nice.

  • @theAGanimators

    How useful did you find the crossover frequency control? I put one of these in my son's car driving two 8 ohm subs wired in parallel and the frequency control doesn't seem to do much, if anything. Just wondering if I happened to get one with a bad potentiometer or something. Thanks.

    • @cafe80s
      @cafe80s  4 роки тому +1

      I used this in a friend's car with a factory stereo and from what I can remember the crossover frequency adjustment worked well. Maybe not as good as a store bought amp, but I could definitely tell it's working.

    Nice video. Did the step up create any noise? I am building a BT speaker and I am wondering if going from 12v (3 18650 in series) to say 18v would cause any noise or battery problems. Any advice? Thanks

    • @cafe80s
      @cafe80s  5 років тому +1

      It's now installed in a car with the step up convertor. It's powering a 10" subwoofer for a while now and here haven't been any issues. No noise in the sound system, and no issues with the car's bluetooth connection either.

    • @theAGanimators
      @theAGanimators 4 роки тому

      Yes on the noise but not always noticeable on a sub. Three 18650's will drop to 9 volts or less as you run them down and the cheaper QSKJ 150w dc-dc converters will start cutting out at less than 10v input (not sure about the one the OP used here). If you're running 18650s its better to just go to a 6s pack IMO. With a 3s pack you should be 3s2p to keep up with the current draw anyway.

      Hi. I have it to a friend to use in his car and it worked very well. The voltage booster was also used. I used a little plastic box and installed a SPDT automotive relay connected to the remote turn-on (accessory power) to switch it on. Since the relay is capable of 30 amps and this amp only draws a maximum of about 4 or 5 it worked perfectly. And the amp never even got warm.

    • @PaakoBravoo
      @PaakoBravoo 5 років тому

      cafe80s thanks a lot for the reply.im curious about the relay.how did you wire it? I would like to do this project and use a nexus tablet as my stereo.i already have it installed but it’s connected to the car stereo for audio.do you think this amp can drive 4 car speakers?

    • @rickphillips683
      @rickphillips683 3 роки тому

      @@PaakoBravoo It can if wired correctly. It depends on the impedance of the speakers on how best to wire it up. What is the ohm value of the four speakers?
      I know this question is a year old but hey...

    My ONKYO integrated amp has a single line out ( One RCA female out ) for an active amp. Could I use this output and use a single male RCA to male RCA cable connected to a single Female RCA mounted on my passive sub then wire this to the board? Thanks in advance and cheers for this video 👍

    • @theAGanimators
      @theAGanimators 4 роки тому +1

      I've used this amp with just one channel hooked up to the input. Use the included cable with the JST connector and solder an RCA to the other end. Most receivers have plenty of oomph at the sub output to drive this amp to full output. Keep in mind that these little amps will only do about 55 watts into 4 ohms or 30ish into 8 ohms so make sure you use a subwoofer with a driver that is fairly efficient.
