In the remake the tramp LITERALLY ABANDONS LADY. In the original he desperately looks for her. They made him shitty and they made all the songs shittier to match their shitty remake.
Peggy Lee in the original had a more mature sound of her voice, one that sounded like she had been around and seen a lot of things and was speaking from experience.
mmm, I love the toon style most but as someone who learned 3D animations and other I have to say I really appreciate how natural they tried to keep the movements while still making them have a humanistic quality. The expressions in her eyes could use some work but the subtle shifts in her body were nice to see as she walked.

My reasoning is simple, instead of creating new spins and renditions of old stories as they did with other tales they are simply repeating the same stories over and over. Which tends to be a constant cliche of the industry. The Beauty and the Beast movie for example was yes a retelling of the original classic but it was not stricktly a revamped version it had a more indepth look at certain characters that changed the perspective of the whole movie. Such as WHY gaston was the way he was. Not just he was a stuck up prick but he was a man of war and messed up in the head. In the original he was literally... just a prick with a lack of a better story. That is being more original than the lion king.... or above lady and the tramp.
I think what these live action remakes show is that some concepts are cute and charming and work well when in 2D animation. It looks bizarre and uncanny seeing things like animals singing, waving their butts, etc in CGI. Even in the lion king it felt bizarre. There’s a flair that 2D gives that CGI can’t capture and it ends up falling flat in comparison. This isn’t to say the CGI is bad. In the lion king and jungle book in particular it was groundbreaking and stunning, but it just doesn’t connect with the original material and the way it played out
You can make an animated character waggle their arms around like they’re made of rubber, but an actor can’t do that without looking like they’re autistic. The only way to make this work would be to forget about making the dogs look real. Make it obvious that they’re fake and make of it what you can. Real dogs moving the way the cartoon dogs move looks unnatural.
The issue is the restrictions in movement caused by trying to keep to more realistic movements. If she was allowed to move in a more unrealistic way it could be less stiff and awkward. It's not as bad as the lion king at least.
Malovane that’s what everyone says, it does look good, but it isn’t as magic, people suggest to do like detective Pikachu, they made CGI monsters, not animals that looked similar. They could do this to the live action remakes. Imagine those dogs with crazy big eyes and human expressions, how it would be magic and even more nostalgic!
It's called passion, something Disney has lost since doing these remakes. As someone who 2D animates, it takes hard work to do...Disney doesn't want to do that
Both versions of the movie are good but peg has always been my favorite character and she doesnt look or act anything like the peg I know and love. Shes not even the same breed...and half the time I'm pretty sure shes a puppet. I know they must use them where they cant use real dogs but with the other dogs I cant tell at all...with her though...

It's really starting to piss me off that Disney keeps remaking all these old Disney classics with CGI technology. The children of the future are going to grow up thinking that this was the original when it really isn't. The old hand drawn animations are so satisfying to look at and obviously alot of effort was put into them,, they're absolutely beautiful😞
I like both covers. Mostly because I am a sucker of this genre of music. As I grew up I started to see Peg in the cartoon version more of a harlot or floozie given her facial expressions and hints of interest towards the Tramp. I did appreciate how the Peg had a more mature-dame approach with self-respect. But in the end, I like both versions. I try to be open-minded and see the good side of things instead of being immature, nostalgic-biased, or picky.
The most unbelievable part of this movie was that a white man was married to a black woman in 1955 in the fockin USA... and not to mention all the freedoms the blacks were enjoying In the movie... that was just fantasy... interacial marriage was legal only by 1967, civil rights was still a huge thing even till the late 70s, even the whole "seperate but equal" issue was festering even in late 50s even though it was abolished by 1954.
I have to say the camera work is pretty good in the new one. Just a little strange seeing a realistic dog make such strange movements, and that's why I prefer stylized animation, both 2D and 3D. It's strange and kind of boring seeing realistic stuff in 3D movies. 2D animation with a realistic style works (see animes for example with wolves, it looks cool, or here on YT for free, "The Story of 86" or something like that), but not 3D. It can easily become uncanny if too realistic. Just look at the new Lion king. Emotionless and some movements aren't even realistic. There's no weight in the lions movements sometimes. They move as if they are light as a duck, not a heavy lion.
When's Disney going to realize that you just can't make something "live action" and "hyperrealistic" and expect people to forgive you for having less emotion than Marmaduke and the dizzying and nauseating motion of the 3D A Christmas Carol? Or the fact that the majority of people don't want to see the same thing done over and over again until you've decided you've milked enough from their memories and nostalgia in the cheapest way possible?
Honestly thats my BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH DISNEY For the last couple years they've barely had any new content- just live actions- reboots- and unneeded sequels. Nothing new and its such a waste! Disney can slap their name on anything- a pile of burning trash- and people will watch it! But instead of putting real effort into new interesting stories they play it so safe- a practical monopoly on animation- and they play it safe. Even if one movie totally flopped- it's disney- it will not destroy their studio. Its just disappointing seeing all these talented voice actors and animators spend so much time on something that couldve been actually interesting and beautiful with some actual passion in the films- but it becomes wasted talent for a fast buck- people will watch anything nostalgic so theyll make every cartoon into live action 😥
Okay, I admit the new one is pretty well made. Besides the realism, there's theater-style lighting, all the motion, the background barking...as Lady sits there, motionless and expressionless. Yeah, I didn't say this was perfect.
Okay, to everyone who is arguing over the dogs being emotionless, calm down. Animals do have emotions. When I saw the scene of when Lady was trying to wake Tramp up, I could see the pain in her eyes. So, dogs do have feelings.
@Wolf Lover Dude my car has emotion but he has the same face everytime. We have more visible expressions because we have eyebrows, depending on how much our eyes are closed it's an expression, we can almost move our mouth in all ways when cats look like they're always smiling xD
Musically both are great. Obviously I’m biased towards the original but the 2019 one is actually pretty good. Some of the lyric changes are meh but vocal wise I’m happy. Animation, 1955 all the way.

Sad thing about all of this is the Buddies movies, Beverly Hills Chihuahua movies and the two Cats vs Dogs movies (to name a few) all used real animals and yet look better by far and they’re older movies. They still maintain animated expressions to display emotions yet hold their appearance as animals. It makes the whole thing fun, entertaining and you can become attached with the characters. If you don’t want to use expressions on their faces, don’t make them talk or at least use the same tactic as Homeward Bound. Dogs have expressions, we all know that but they aren’t good for dance scenes like this unless you know what you’re doing or care to put enough effort into it. I find it really sad their excuse it that don’t display as much expression thus they don’t animate very much. Yes they do. That’s pure laziness is what it is. They have the capabilities, they just don’t utilize them. All the movies I listed off and even the ones I didn’t that everyone knows of possessed perfect canine traits yet still went above and beyond with displaying their emotions to bring the characters to life. Instead of trying to get everything so damn realistic down to the finer details. We watch movies to be set apart from reality while getting to enjoy all the neat rigs animation has today.
Obviously the original is better. I’m tired of the stupid excuses saying there trying to make more realistic, and that dogs don’t make emotions. I know saying "2019 LOOKS BAD 😤" won't do or mean anything but hyper realism is something you do with serious characters like dragons or large predators in movies because they usually keep them acting feral like their design. Making realistic Lady and the Tramp characters in nice to see until you realize it's a movie. A few clips would be cute, but a movie of uncanny pets that make human emotion is pretty bad.
The cgi version is SO laughable. Just like tge lion king re-make, the characters seem irritatingly emotionless, and combining the animation with the song, the result looks like a footage of dogs being (fan)dubbed. Like, come on. 😂😂

The old one actually shows personality in the design. While in the new one.... they just killed the old designs. I can't tell what the dog is feeling cause they keep the same face through the song. So I like the old one better because of the expressive designs, and I can tell the dog's emotion AND recognize the character by the design.

The reasons below are reasons why the original movie is and will always be my favorite version of lady and the tramp but I warn you about spoilers! The first movie takes place in the early 1800's so the african americans wouldn't be having any sort of high status yet, meaning darling in the remake, shouldn't be african american, neither should aunt sarah, or anyone else in the movie. I'm not being racist I'm just stating facts. And Ik they probably did that so there would be no drama with races but still.. Plus they made Jock a girl like, BOI! HE IS A BOI. (Heccin feminists are taking over) They even made Darling and Jim dear's child a girl! I don't care so much about tramp's new design since it resembles his original design but I'm sad that they changed his personality, he went from a tough, mischievous, brave and bold, tramp who plays with the heart of every girl he meets, to a loner tramp who wasn't even brave enough to fight off the dog that attacks lady or the dog catcher?? c'mon! Another thing I didn't like about the live action is the location, the animation is based out of an upstate high class community, either new york, Vermont, Virginia. the opening scene showed it snowing and in L&T2 they show that the town has 4 seasons winter, fall, summer and spring. The live action was based out of louisiana with a new Orleans vibe and Louisiana doesn't get a lot or any snow in most parts, the most is about 2 inches before it melts so the opening with the snow is not correct and I agree with a lot that you said, jock was a huge disappointment, tramp was basically a wuss with his tail between his legs, they never completed the whole film with lady and tramp having their own puppies, the ending with the carriage chase was completely lame in my opinion the animation was way better, tramp wouldn't of have gotten hurt in the first place, the wagon toppled over he was locked in the back it wouldn't of opened for him to have fallen out of it cause it was locked with a key lock it wasn't a stopper like the animation that was easier for tramp to unlock with his nose, in the live action tramp had to wait for the catcher to unlock the back before helping free peg and the bulldog so their was no way for tramp to get out and be the one to get hurt instead of trusty, some of the live action was good especially the famous spaghetti scene at Tony's, but for the overall I was disappointed in it, I'd rather the animation compared to the live action, the only good live action films in my opinion is the jungle book, cinderella, and beauty and the beast... Maleficent is okay but it's not a live action of sleeping Beauty, lion King lacked emotion the voice of older simba just didn't match in my opinion especially at the end with the battle against scar he was just talking normal instead of being mad or angry, their was no emotion in his voice, and with Aladdin I was just confused, it was basically a fresh prince of Belair Halloween special, the rapping was a turn off, the location was great the extra cast for song numbers was amazing the outfits were great but the overall jibe I wasn't getting, they completely butchered Petes dragon it was nowhere near anything of the classic beside the names their was no passamaquoddy or candel on the water which made the movie so great. So hopefully mulan will be good i know they said about taking out the soundtrack and mushu which is a shame cause mushu was a major factor in which the movie was so great, the soundtrack is just gonna be orchestrated with no vocals so I guess will have to wait and see how it is when it comes out next year.

What breed was she origibally? I always thought she was a lhasa apso or somethung similar and tgats what she looks like in the new one.

It's really starting to piss me off that Disney keeps remaking all these old Disney classics with CGI technology. The children of the future are going to grow up thinking that this was the original when it really isn't. The old hand drawn animations are so satisfying to look at and obviously alot of effort was put into them,, they're absolutely beautiful😞

I like both covers. Mostly because I am a sucker of this genre of music.
As I grew up I started to see Peg in the cartoon version more of a harlot or floozie given her facial expressions and hints of interest towards the Tramp. I did appreciate how the Peg had a more mature-dame approach with self-respect. But in the end, I like both versions. I try to be open-minded and see the good side of things instead of being immature, nostalgic-biased, or picky.
The 1955 was really good and the 2019 was adorable and funny. I would prefer both versions in my opinion

The most unbelievable part of this movie was that a white man was married to a black woman in 1955 in the fockin USA... and not to mention all the freedoms the blacks were enjoying In the movie... that was just fantasy... interacial marriage was legal only by 1967, civil rights was still a huge thing even till the late 70s, even the whole "seperate but equal" issue was festering even in late 50s even though it was abolished by 1954.
I have to say the camera work is pretty good in the new one. Just a little strange seeing a realistic dog make such strange movements, and that's why I prefer stylized animation, both 2D and 3D. It's strange and kind of boring seeing realistic stuff in 3D movies. 2D animation with a realistic style works (see animes for example with wolves, it looks cool, or here on YT for free, "The Story of 86" or something like that), but not 3D. It can easily become uncanny if too realistic. Just look at the new Lion king. Emotionless and some movements aren't even realistic. There's no weight in the lions movements sometimes. They move as if they are light as a duck, not a heavy lion.

Honestly thats my BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH DISNEY For the last couple years they've barely had any new content- just live actions- reboots- and unneeded sequels. Nothing new and its such a waste! Disney can slap their name on anything- a pile of burning trash- and people will watch it! But instead of putting real effort into new interesting stories they play it so safe- a practical monopoly on animation- and they play it safe. Even if one movie totally flopped- it's disney- it will not destroy their studio. Its just disappointing seeing all these talented voice actors and animators spend so much time on something that couldve been actually interesting and beautiful with some actual passion in the films- but it becomes wasted talent for a fast buck- people will watch anything nostalgic so theyll make every cartoon into live action 😥

Okay, I admit the new one is pretty well made. Besides the realism, there's theater-style lighting, all the motion, the background barking...as Lady sits there, motionless and expressionless. Yeah, I didn't say this was perfect.

Musically both are great. Obviously I’m biased towards the original but the 2019 one is actually pretty good. Some of the lyric changes are meh but vocal wise I’m happy. Animation, 1955 all the way.

Sad thing about all of this is the Buddies movies, Beverly Hills Chihuahua movies and the two Cats vs Dogs movies (to name a few) all used real animals and yet look better by far and they’re older movies. They still maintain animated expressions to display emotions yet hold their appearance as animals. It makes the whole thing fun, entertaining and you can become attached with the characters. If you don’t want to use expressions on their faces, don’t make them talk or at least use the same tactic as Homeward Bound. Dogs have expressions, we all know that but they aren’t good for dance scenes like this unless you know what you’re doing or care to put enough effort into it.
I find it really sad their excuse it that don’t display as much expression thus they don’t animate very much. Yes they do. That’s pure laziness is what it is. They have the capabilities, they just don’t utilize them. All the movies I listed off and even the ones I didn’t that everyone knows of possessed perfect canine traits yet still went above and beyond with displaying their emotions to bring the characters to life. Instead of trying to get everything so damn realistic down to the finer details. We watch movies to be set apart from reality while getting to enjoy all the neat rigs animation has today.
The 2019 version makes me want to adopt every last one of them

I know saying "2019 LOOKS BAD 😤" won't do or mean anything but hyper realism is something you do with serious characters like dragons or large predators in movies because they usually keep them acting feral like their design. Making realistic Lady and the Tramp characters in nice to see until you realize it's a movie. A few clips would be cute, but a movie of uncanny pets that make human emotion is pretty bad.

Although that's my biggest issue with those cgi live action remakes : why do they settle for 99% realistic looking characters ? The fact that they're cgi should be the 1st excuse to stretch things out; and here sure it looks "real" but it feels very unnatural, because the characters look like they're trying to refrain themselves from being too jumpy or too emotive in order to be less cartoony

The old one actually shows personality in the design. While in the new one.... they just killed the old designs. I can't tell what the dog is feeling cause they keep the same face through the song. So I like the old one better because of the expressive designs, and I can tell the dog's emotion AND recognize the character by the design.

The OG is better. There is no argument. It looks better, the way the characters move looks better, the character models look better, the voice is better.
1955 is better then 2019 by FAR. There’s good facial expressions on the dogs, and the music number is more lively - though both singers are really good.

When you have a story based on emotions with animals as main characters, good artist know that traditional animation is a proper tool to use to design and emote with. The reasons below are reasons why the original movie is and will always be my favorite version of lady and the tramp but I warn you about spoilers! (They've just changed lady and the tramp 2019 way too much for me to love the movie, although it's not the worst. For me the worst is the aladdin remake ;/)

The first movie takes place in the early 1800's so the african americans wouldn't be having any sort of high status yet, meaning darling in the remake, shouldn't be african american, neither should aunt sarah, or anyone else in the movie. I'm not being racist I'm just stating facts. And Ik they probably did that so there would be no drama with races but still.. Plus they made Jock a girl like, BOI! HE IS A BOI. (Heccin feminists are taking over) They even made Darling and Jim dear's child a girl! I don't care so much about tramp's new design since it resembles his original design but I'm sad that they changed his personality, he went from a tough, mischievous, brave and bold, tramp who plays with the heart of every girl he meets, to a loner tramp who wasn't even brave enough to fight off the dog that attacks lady or the dog catcher?? c'mon! He became a wussy! And there was no zoo scene! Instead just a dumb beaver statue ;

Another thing I didn't like about the live action is the location, the animation is based out of an upstate high class community, either new york, Vermont, Virginia. the opening scene showed it snowing and in L&T2 they show that the town has 4 seasons winter, fall, summer and spring. The live action was based out of louisiana with a new Orleans vibe and Louisiana doesn't get a lot or any snow in most parts, the most is about 2 inches before it melts so the opening with the snow is not correct and I agree with a lot that you said, jock was a huge disappointment, tramp was basically a wuss with his tail between his legs, they never completed the whole film with lady and tramp having their own puppies, the ending with the carriage chase was completely lame in my opinion the animation was way better, tramp wouldn't of have gotten hurt in the first place, the wagon toppled over he was locked in the back it wouldn't of opened for him to have fallen out of it cause it was locked with a key lock it wasn't a stopper like the animation that was easier for tramp to unlock with his nose, in the live action tramp had to wait for the catcher to unlock the back before helping free peg and the bulldog so their was no way for tramp to get out and be the one to get hurt instead of trusty, some of the live action was good especially the famous spaghetti scene at Tony's, but for the overall I was disappointed in it, I'd rather the animation compared to the live action, the only good live action films in my opinion is the jungle book, cinderella, and beauty and the beast... Maleficent is okay but it's not a live action of sleeping Beauty, lion King lacked emotion the voice of older simba just didn't match in my opinion especially at the end with the battle against scar he was just talking normal instead of being mad or angry, their was no emotion in his voice, and with Aladdin I was just confused, it was basically a fresh prince of Belair Halloween special, the rapping was a turn off, the location was great the extra cast for song numbers was amazing the outfits were great but the overall jibe I wasn't getting, they completely butchered Petes dragon it was nowhere near anything of the classic beside the names their was no passamaquoddy or candel on the water which made the movie so great. So hopefully mulan will be good i know they said about taking out the soundtrack and mushu which is a shame cause mushu was a major factor in which the movie was so great, the soundtrack is just gonna be orchestrated with no vocals so I guess will have to wait and see how it is when it comes out next year.
I actually didn’t even have the guts to watch the whole movie, I skipped through it after noticing that jock was a girl, I do not like that Disney is ruining original movies like the lion king, I mean no offense to those who liked them but I think they should stop making live action movies

I know that, technically, they were designed to be stereotypes in the original; but SIAMESE CATS naturally fall into those unfortunate stereotypes. They have creamy-tan fur, their eyes are almond shaped/slanted, and Siamese cats are known to have high-pitched vocalizations. If you take out the buck teeth, the originals are just friggin’ Siamese cats.
