Thank you, SWT, for the wonderful, life-saving work you do. I'm so glad Mwinzi was rescued in time and now is thriving from the love and care you give him.
Oh my word!! Blown away by that story of Mwinzi. Who would have thought he would have had that much fight? But look at the cheeky little one now 😊 adorable does not cut it!! Lucky he was seen and saved, for all concerned ♡ huge thanks to all involved xxx
This is such a uplifting story to end the year. Mwinzi is a very lucky elephant and another little miracle rescued and saved by the SWT team. I hope this little elephant grows up to be a African Giant and lives a long life. Huge thanks to everyone at SWT and everyone around the world who supports the Trusts work. This post is in memory of Mark and Peter Jenkins who recently lost their lives in Tsavo National helping to protect the elephants. A father and son team who were passionate about conservation in Africa. They were two of the Unsung hero's who made a difference with the work they did, and their legacy will not be forgotten.
Such a great job, I too am completely shocked to see a collapsed neonate recover like that! Anyone who's handled other animals in that state knows those odds are always 20/80 against meaningful survival. Fantastic!
What a lovely boy. I'm so grateful that he recovered because the first sight of him down on the ground was a very sad sight. Great work everyone, from those that reported a loan baby and everyone that got involved to help him. Thank you!
A beautiful baby and a wonderful rescue. The work and good you do is immeasurable. Whomever his parents are his strength, will to survive, and recovery give new meaning to "having good genes."

Wonderful to see little Mwinzi so healthy and thriving!! Can't wait to see him grow and become a magnificent elephant!! Merry Xmas Mwinzi and everyone at SWT!!
You have to consider the long term consequences of what your actions will bring. I know the poor baby is cute and would probably be worth its weight in gold for fundraising and photo ops, however when we disrespect mother nature and her ways there is a price to pay. Look up the elephant cullings in south Africa and you will see the end result. They had to shoot 15',000 elephants due to overpopulation. These are not puppies and kittens but enormous animals that require a lot from their environment. They were destroying entire evo systems for other species. So what happens in 10-20 years when These cute babies are all grown up and you dump to hem in a shrinking habitat,? Can anyone else see the train wreck ??.
Videos like this remind me why it is so important to donate to this trust. Our donations help save their lives and for that I will never stop giving when I can God bless the keepers and the DSWT❤
Its absolutely insane to me to watch this animal get a private plane ride to unlimited amounts of food and medical care til it's old enough to go out into the wild and destroy entire ecosystems in a country who has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world, and the children that do live more than 1/2 won't make it to their 10th birthday. These African children are dying of starvation, and lack of clean water and basic medical care,.. Does it sit well with you that animals are treated better than children in this country and you are contributing to it? Shameful.

Actually, looks like Rokka is Mwinzi's caring and protective big sister. It makes sense as DolDol is actually almost a year younger than Mwinzi, and is still the teeniest tiniest! Hmmm, I still want to adopt Minzi though--my nephew is a Christmas Miracle, he survived a universally fatal illness, so I want to adopt Mwinzi for him. But I also wanted to adopt a nurturing elephant who adopted orphans in honour of my stepmother who just passed from Covid. Hmmm. I guess the solution is to adopt Rokka too? It's Christmas, time to be generous.
